Raab licked his finger to turn the page- surely that's not a good idea right now.

Gammeldragz · 30/03/2020 17:25

Sansa - I think he assumes Designated Survivor status makes him immune...
I'm struggling to pay attention, he's so dull.

SansaSnark · 30/03/2020 17:26

Special charter flights for countries where no commercial flights are running- although you have to pay for your ticket =/

But if commercial flights are running, then people need to get themselves home.

Gammeldragz · 30/03/2020 17:26

I actually miss Boris...

SansaSnark · 30/03/2020 17:27

He is putting me to sleep a bit.

Number12 · 30/03/2020 17:29

Next line please haha

woodencoffeetable · 30/03/2020 17:38

What is serious about an immune system making the scalp flaky
it doesn't just make skin flaky, it also can make internal organs, joints, bones flaky.

Helenj1977 · 30/03/2020 17:39

He's the deputy PM? Good god!

Helenj1977 · 30/03/2020 17:40

I wonder how Boris is...

maudspellbody · 30/03/2020 17:43

Psoriasis - even the fairly innocuous, although annoying, type I have all over my scalp - is a symptom of the immune system attacking healthy tissue in the body.

It's a disorder of immunity. Don't fixate on the external symptoms - the threat is in the fact that it is caused by a disorder in the immune system.

People can get psoriatic arthritis, which is nasty and debilitating (google it), which is why some patients take strong medications that suppress the immune system to stop it attacking healthy cells.

It is not 'a bit of flaky skin'

SansaSnark · 30/03/2020 17:43

He isn't deputy prime minister, but he will take over if Boris is incapacitated.

defthand · 30/03/2020 17:44

Vallance adds that at the moment, the UK is seeing around 1,000 new cases of Covid-19 a day. “That’s not an acceleration,” he insists.

He expects the pattern to continue over the next two to three weeks, with the number likely to being to decrease after.

——

Eh? 1000 a day? Are our current numbers of 2500 per day massively in lag or some such?

Somelady · 30/03/2020 17:46

Thank you for explaining the seriousness of psoriasis. Did the reporter just say there are 9000 people in hospital

CrunchyCarrot · 30/03/2020 17:46

Crunchy you need to line up the figures from when both countries had 10 deaths. So today, is 1441 vs 1408

Ahh OKwill do! :)

MarshaBradyo · 30/03/2020 17:46

Thanks

pocketem · 30/03/2020 17:47

Oof. This is how far back they have to go to get nasal swabs. Don't know if I could tolerate that

That was a bit abrupt at the end!

danni0509 · 30/03/2020 17:48

@maudspellbody I agree it is not just flaky skin. I've had ordinary psoriasis for 20 years (elbows, knees, scalp) although quite large patches but just in the usual places.

2 years ago I got tonsillitis. What followed was 80% of my body being covered in guttate psoriasis which has scarred some parts and took 6 months to clear. If I get a cold or anything as simple as that my skin goes mental and my psoriasis multiplies.

ajandjjmum · 30/03/2020 17:54

1,000 per day increase in hospital at the moment - so 9,000 people at the moment in hospital.

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 30/03/2020 17:57

Psoriasis as a teen was how my multitude of immune ishoos started...

defthand · 30/03/2020 18:03

@ajandjjmum

Thank you. Guardian blog a bit unclear there. 🙂

Checkyspeck · 30/03/2020 18:05

I’m not doing great... last few days I’ve been very conscious of my breathing. Mainly feel it in my throat. This has made me anxious. But I suspect it’s anxiety that’s making me feel like this. Woke up with a sore throat today which made me panic. Think that’s from clearing my throat so much the last few days, due to the heavy feeling in my throat. Fun vicious circle!

SistemaAddict · 30/03/2020 18:05

Ds's (absent) dad is obese, has bad asthma, and smokes. Sleep apnoea too. His asthma would more than likely be controlled if he didn't smoke and lost weight but he wouldn't listen when I was with him and is still the same apparently. He'd have a poor outcome I expect if he bought this.

SistemaAddict · 30/03/2020 18:07

*caught

Helenj1977 · 30/03/2020 18:09

@pocketem I hope I never need to be tested.

@Checkyspeck Keep going, every day over is a day nearer being healthy 💐
