I thought he basically said the decision had been made that all the Senior Leadership team should be tested to see whether or not they had it - I assume quite a few came down with symptoms at the same time as well which would make sense

I am watching it on Sky though

refraction · 02/04/2020 18:43

It didn't cut on sky but yes he said we decided those making decisions we agreed would be tested.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 02/04/2020 18:48

Just read in The Times that China is shutting down parts of the country again to stop spread. Doesn't bode well when they've only just reopened

HeIenaDove · 02/04/2020 18:52

@CharlieTangoBanana Thanks

I am bloody furious that there are no contingency plans in place for something like this.

I mean the whole thing.

SansaSnark · 02/04/2020 18:59

@CharlieTangoBanana That doesn't sound like a great situation. Could you talk to the volunteer group and explain how shopping at the farm shop may not be the best option for everyone?

If you're rural, I know a lot of young farmers groups are doing pick up/drop off of shopping, and they might be willing to go to a supermarket or might just have some cat food that they are able to sell/share?

mrshoho · 02/04/2020 19:04

@CharlieTangoBanana rant away here as much as you like. It really is a shit situation on all levels.

And I've not seen any journalist highlighting how the government proudly announced that 50k emergency food supply boxes would be sent by the end of this week yet gave no thought or mention as to how the other 1450000 people were meant to cope?

"good news contribution for today: Researchers in Denmark are starting to test a promising drug in #covid19 patients, barely a month after research appeared showing the drug could stop the virus in cell culture. Quick thread: "

@mrshoho i wonder if there is a correlation between people not getting help and the increase of cars on the road. Some of them could be going to a vulnerable relative or friend because waiting any longer would mean dire consequences.

My parents have spent over 21 hours on a plane, been through 3 airports having arrived back at Heathrow Airport, they are not being recommended to isolate for 2 weeks, there were no questions asked, no temperature checks and they saw one anti-bac gel, how is this allowed

Quartz2208 · 02/04/2020 19:31

I have to say though it is already rife throughout London we dont need airport checks anymore - that was a plan we needed in February. It would be shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted kind of plan

MarshaBradyo · 02/04/2020 19:34

Yes agree it’s too late now.

MurrayTheMonk · 02/04/2020 19:37

Sorry CharlieTangoBanana-it's a really shitty situation that... and you are right... it's really showing the difference between the haves and have nots...

Gammeldragz · 02/04/2020 19:39

Well it was nice to get a proper press briefing for a change, Hancock went up a small amount in my estimation after that.

DarnedSocks · 02/04/2020 20:29

I'd like one of the journalists to ask Hancock if he was tested with any particular drugs. Was he given chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine, remdesivir, the HIV drugs, something else? We have a very limited stock in the UK but presumably there's enough for senior cabinet members.

WhyNotMe40 · 02/04/2020 20:49

I'd like one of the journalists to ask if ANY of the cabinet / advisors were treated with anything other than the bog standard paracetamol advised to the rest of us...

MarshaBradyo · 02/04/2020 20:50

I wonder how Michael Rosen is doing, I heard his poem on R4 this morning

MarshaBradyo · 02/04/2020 20:51

Yes to question they’d totally fudge it though

Sassenach85 · 02/04/2020 21:02

Yes to the PP about Matt Hancock, he is what he is BUT it was a change from the repetitive drivel we’ve been getting

CharlieTangoBanana · 02/04/2020 21:39

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

The lady needing cat food has been sorted by the lovely man who runs the corner shop at the arse end of the village where all the ex council houses are, it's where the great and good go to find a cleaner.
He sent his wife with cat food, bread milk, tea bags, fruit and a selection of biscuits and ready meals. They have opened a tab for her and said she can settle when lockdown ends.

I've also found a market trader who is doing a single person fruit and veg box, they are happy to take a cheque.

namechangemania · 02/04/2020 21:42

Today I learned of my first ‘real life’ death from covid-19 - the father of someone at one of my hobbies. It all feels much more real now Sad

CharlieTangoBanana · 02/04/2020 22:02

Why is there such a huge discrepancy between the numbers being reported from Spain and those on Worldometer

WhyNotMe40 · 02/04/2020 22:27

Does anyone know if anyone is plotting England regional graphs by county or health board?

Yamayo · 02/04/2020 22:57
