Sounds nasty @ofwarren, I hope you have been managing to keep isolated, get well soon Flowers

Why is italy still getting 5000 new cases a day when they have been in lockdown for ages nowSad i dont understand x

WhyNotMe40 · 01/04/2020 18:19

There is still transmission during lockdown. Within families, within essential workplaces, from essential workers to the general public during essential tasks etc.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 01/04/2020 18:25

I'm not sure if I believe the above, but it is a theory I have held with my husband for a while. Surely eventually it would have to burn out. If it cant infect new people it has nowhere to go. We are way way off that though.

Legoandloldolls · 01/04/2020 18:36

I dont think it will burn out. Even if no one touched a infected surface for 9 days etc, etc, etc it has to burn out works wide or it will just be flown in again.

I dint think that's realistic. The entire world would be in the same level of lockdown at the same time plus no one meeting anyone including no NHS interactions

MarshaBradyo · 01/04/2020 18:40

Italy is now three weeks of lock down now? That is the lag for how long it takes for some people to arrive in hospital. Hopefully it will start to taper.

CrunchyCarrot · 01/04/2020 18:50

CrunchyCarrot where are you?

I'm here sporadically, just having a really tired day. Seem to have been busier since all this started. I am hypothyroid so I tire quickly.

ofwarren Flowers feel better soon.

Did anyone notice that more people are travelling by car again, according to the graph shown at the briefing? I wonder how long people will comply with the lockdown.

SansaSnark · 01/04/2020 19:01

Italy have been in full Lockdown for just over 3 weeks- I know it feels like longer.

If you think 2 weeks asymptomatic + 7 days of relatively mild symptoms, it makes sense that a lot of cases are only just getting spotted now.

You'd hope to see a fall by the end of the week I think.

Random18 · 01/04/2020 19:03

Crunchy I am surprised at the increased car journeys.

It changed 2 weeks ago though on the Monday to self isolating for 14 days. i wonder if many did that and then are back to work now.

Also with more people having had the virus or at least thinking they have, does that mean they think they are at less risk now.

These are my musings only.

EmeraldShamrock · 01/04/2020 19:14

@CrunchyCarrot Try take it easy, get some rest you don't want to get to run down especially now.

CharlieTangoBanana · 01/04/2020 19:25

I just want you all to know that I'm still here, still reading, still grateful for the ongoing information and discussions.

I feel as if this week (5th on antibiotics & now steroids) of pneumonia that I've finally turned a corner. I'm feeling a bit better in myself and actually did something just for fun today. I made a rainbow for a window. It's the first thing I've done for six weeks other than eat sleep and hang out on the internet.

Horehound · 01/04/2020 19:27

@CrunchyCarrot my husband would be included in those car stats.
He was told to work from home for a week and a half and that's now ended he's going back in. Same with many other of his colleagues

Horehound · 01/04/2020 19:28

That's good news @CharlieTangoBanana well done and keep going :) Flowers

Bessica1970 · 01/04/2020 19:34

Did any one else see the stats about increased car journeys and think it was the start of trying to lay excuses early for why lockdown isn’t working properly (rather than clamping down on non-essential businesses being open)?

Bessica1970 · 01/04/2020 19:36

I’ve now been shielding for 14 days (with my family) does this mean we’re probably going to be ok now if we’ve passed the 14 day point without symptoms?
We don’t go out other than the garden and wipe down all deliveries.

TheCanterburyWhales · 01/04/2020 19:47

Italian PM just speaking to confirm existant lockdown conditions extended till 13/4.
Which is what we expected, I can see families not respecting the distancing over Easter week.

Aurea · 01/04/2020 19:51

I'm 15 days in now, and thought I was almost better, bar lack of energy and slight residual chest pains. However today my glands have come up again and I feel like I'm getting a high temperature (my original symptoms did not include a fever but did include cough, chest pain/pressure/heat, etc).

Bar walks in the open air, I haven't been anywhere to pick anything else up, nor have my family. Could this be a recurrence of symptoms?
Thanks!

Helenj1977 · 01/04/2020 20:11

@Bessica1970 Do you mean you haven't had it? I've done the same. I wioe everything, gloves for everything and no actual shops.

Really hoping to avoid it.

EmeraldShamrock · 01/04/2020 20:17

I’ve now been shielding for 14 days (with my family) does this mean we’re probably going to be ok now if we’ve passed the 14 day point without symptoms? If you haven't had it and continue to isolate you might avoud it, though I'd say the chance of getting it is likely to stay for month's.
I've been isolating too, DP is still working so not sure if it is pointless. Sad

SansaSnark · 01/04/2020 20:22

@Bessica1970 I think that's a good sign, yes!

Bessica1970 · 01/04/2020 20:26

I’m getting a bit more confident every day Although second guessing every little symptom! I’ve convinced myself several times that one or another of us has it, only for symptoms to completely disappear an hour later!

WhyNotMe40 · 01/04/2020 20:28

Well I'm on day 17 from getting "something" - didn't have much of a temperature (37.6 but I normally run at 36.4) didn't really feel ill, bit of a cough but not bad... And one day where I felt really wheezy and breathing in hurt on the inside like I'd breathed in very very icy air, and it was difficult to get a full breath. But since then I've been fine.
In fact I've been so fine I've been doing Joe Wicks every morning with the kids, and even went for a little run yesterday evening.
But tonight I'm getting that "icy air, hard to breath" burning sensation again.... Very very weird.
I'm also worried about long term lung damage as seen in SARS. But it is what it is, you can't rewind..
Would love to know if I've had it or just a weird virus. The whole family had the cough, which is fairly unusual, but noone got it particularly badly. I think I had it the worst - and that makes me think that it can't be Covid19 surely as I should have had the biggest viral load as I caught it last and spend huge amounts of time with my child who got it first including bed sharing. - I would have thought I should have had a really nasty case?

middleager · 01/04/2020 20:28

*I’ve now been shielding for 14 days (with my family) does this mean we’re probably going to be ok now if we’ve passed the 14 day point without symptoms?

My DS came back from school 2 weeks ago with a fever for 2 days. He's rarely ill.

We have been SI for 14 days. Today I have a sore throat, fever, shakes, headaches, lethargy and I am also rarely ill.

It's a head fuck.
