Sorry.

I apologise. I'm just so anxious and despairing tonight

MarshaBradyo · 31/03/2020 22:24

WhyNot me too Flowers, hard news today

Coquohvan · 31/03/2020 22:32

@defthand
But I sure wouldn’t be taking a site like Worldometers as gospel on anything.

@defthand
They’re doing a brilliant job with new cases and deaths, but the more detailed data isn’t always reported by some countries (like ours).

????

I understand what you mean now re the reporting of detailed data.

On the one hand NHS officials are gagging drs and nurses for speaking out about lack of protective equpment yet here locally they have endorsed a local group who answered their staff's please for urgent equipment. It's growing onto a large operation and staff at NPH and other smaller clinics are showing gratitude for these much needed items.

*pleas

RedToothBrush · 31/03/2020 22:36

Quite. But why aren't more journalists going for them with this??? It's just lies on lies and no one is calling them out.

I've been talking about this for over 3 years.

Because there has been a decline in the quality of journalism with people believing in 'both siderism' or pushing particular political ideologies rather than 'checking whether its raining outside' because there is more revenue to be made in click bait than investigative journalism.

Oakmaiden · 31/03/2020 22:36

Thing is, if the NHS is "exposed" as being "not fit for purpose" then that suits the Tories very well.

So whilst I don't think their aim is to destroy the NHS over this, I don't think they will work very hard to stop it being a casualty.

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome · 31/03/2020 22:37

@WhyNotMe40 don't apologise, today has been the hardest in terms of news. I've just had the exact same mental debate with myself and cried for the first time. I felt the panic threaten to take hold earlier, amd had to work hard to squash it.

I can't reconcile the alone thing AT ALL but just keep telling myself that the odds are still very much the flavour of our children and they still have more chance of being hit by a car amd I don't worry myself sick about that every day.

But no apology necessary.

MarshaBradyo · 31/03/2020 22:41

Destroying the NHS isn’t the same as letting your medics not have PPE on purpose. But WhyNot has said this was anxiety which I have much sympathy with so let’s leave that strain.

If we take that out, then if people want to argue they are destroying it as an institution I can’t say much.

I do feel stressed again I admit. Like a few weeks ago when sleep went to pieces. So I can’t do debate on that atm.

WhyNotMe40 · 31/03/2020 22:45

Yes I totally take that back. After all, what's that quite about not attributing to malice that which can be explained by incompetence? Or something

Good idea I wish I could get my hands on some of those plants that need a home (growers)

defthand · 31/03/2020 22:51

I’m being trying to find seeds or seedlings to buy online to no avail. Smile

defthand · 31/03/2020 22:52

*I’ve been

MarshaBradyo · 31/03/2020 22:52

Me too I googled growers online sale but couldn’t find a site

Petiolaris · 31/03/2020 22:58

I’m being trying to find seeds or seedlings to buy online to no avail
To be fair it’s pretty late to buy seeds even if there wasn’t a global pandemic. Sarah Raven is still shipping, T&M is currently suspended but not for long.

peridito · 31/03/2020 22:59

I keep thinking about Jenny Harries saying that some staff in hospitals felt unsafe so they were looking at current technical guidance re PPE to see if it could be tweaked to help staff feel safer .

The implication was v much that this was about dealing with staff's mental state ,it wasn't that the current guidance meant they actually were unsafe .

I guess this relates to staff being told that an apron and surgical mask was adequte protection .

These briefings are a joke ,have they no idea that all the fudging ,not answering questions ,refusing to let journalists have any come back makes us all more nervous and full of distrust ?

defthand · 31/03/2020 23:00

Thanks @Petiolaris.

RedToothBrush · 31/03/2020 23:04

I’m being trying to find seeds or seedlings to buy online to no avail.

Chilternseeds.co.uk are still operational. They are temporarily closing their website so they can keep up with orders but they are reopening intermittently. Just keep checking back on their website. They definitely are still operational.

Didn't know this was a thing: Ocularly applied synthetic anti-RSV small interfering RNA prevented infection of the eye as well as the lung
Viral Infection of the Lungs Through the Eye Vira Bitko et al. J Virol. Jan 2007

NoWordForFluffy · 31/03/2020 23:23

It's definitely not too late for sowing seeds. Many shouldn't be sown until April at the earliest.

Try Lidl and Wilko for seeds. Also Poundstretcher has loads usually. Also fruit trees etc.

My favourite seller on eBay is sadly closed due to CV.

It's worth an eBay search to see if anybody is still trading.

It looks like Sutton's (www.suttons.co.uk) is back online tomorrow.

Marshall's (www.marshallsgarden.co.uk) is trading still.

There are options. Though the cheaper ones aren't about as much now.

VivaLeBeaver · 31/03/2020 23:23

The hospital I do bank work at are moving as from tomorrow to staff wearing gloves and a surgical mask for every patient. Before it was only if symptoms/confirmed. Only needed an ffp3 mask if An aerosolised procedure.

People have been wanting to wear masks and gloves for all patients for days but have been clearly told they can’t as not enough stock.

Now been told to wear it and a new mask every 30 mins or sooner if moving to a new patient......so more like changing every 5 mins. Not sure how much stock there is now but we will go through thousands a day. People reckon there aren’t enough masks to last tomorrow!

NoWordForFluffy · 31/03/2020 23:24

Sorry, it's www.marshallsgarden.com.

Aldi's garden event is starting on Thursday this week. I've no idea what's included.

mrshoho · 31/03/2020 23:26

This is what I really don't understand. Why should our medical staff be put at risk and why aren't the journalists shouting about it?
