Continued support for those who need a few kind words to help them through the dips.

Please do not come here to ask 'but how do you know if you haven't had a test'

@lane boy yes I'm also an ME/cfs person, i wonder if it might be why it's taking me so long to recover, I also have asthma, hashimoto's and a very complex chronic daily migraine condition so am on a lot of medication daily which all might not be helping me to 'bounce back' but it doesnt help with the fear. Ironically in the 2 weeks before this started I had my first migraine free days since october as I've started on a new treatment, so the fact I've been back in bed again for 3 weeks is really upsetting and my partner is understandably at the end of his tether with it all. Hugs to everyone Flowers

tangledyarn · 01/04/2020 07:46

@katysun yeah I had to speak to my gp as needed a sick note..he said 4-6 weeks to recover..he was comparing it to 'the worst flu you've ever had' Which I guess would take a similar timescale x

stayathomegardener · 01/04/2020 07:53

Hi @KatySun I'm on day 21 and yes the chest pains do cause the most anxiety. In normal times I would be at the doctors for sure.
However we pretty much all seem to have them but as our oxygen stats and breathing are generally ok I'm taking the view (for now) that they are a completely normal progression.Confused

Casino218 · 01/04/2020 08:39

@stayathomegardener I think Brufen worked for my chest pains. They definitely seem easier now and we are at same point of illness.

Good morning all , I really hope you all feel better soon. I think this virus is obviously affecting us all not just physically but mentally too , it’s the not knowing how it will pan out- we all have a rough idea of how a bad cold or flu runs it’s course but this is all so new and seemingly quite random.

I have woken up this morning, quite breathless and with a mouth full of bloody ulcers , wish I could get hold of a thermometer as I can’t tell if I’v got a temperature or the flushes are the menopause.

user34254356 · 01/04/2020 09:18

Good morning. Seems all of us are struggling with the same symptoms and I am only taking comfort from the fact that we are all pretty much out of the danger zone. Like @dandypenguin GP, the NHS 111 doctor also told me that it's the first 7 days where the illness can change course but at days11 onwards it's unlikely for the symptoms to worsen and require hospitalisation.

Day 15 for me and I have my favourite chest pains. The strong heart beat is also lurking and I am so anxious about it that I don't want to do any activity as I feel the heartbeat for hours on end after.

I can see some people are still working / have gone back to work. how are you managing with the symptoms.

@Tangledyarn hope it's a better day for you today.

longshot · 01/04/2020 09:20

Hi all, I haven't read through all the updates since last night (so many!) but hoping that those who were really struggling overnight feel a little better today.

It's day 22 here. I feel OK, just washed out and a bit achey still, slight headache. Chest pains are decreasing, definitely feel more normal and on the mend but must not overdo it I know.

I am going to stop updating so frequently now because am concentrating on homeschooling again and trying to find some work (lost my contract).

If people would like me to still update on progress so that they have something to ease the anxiety I will do...just let me know. I know how useful I have found that from the likes of @Cary2012

Good luck to all of you with a special shout out to @Casino218 @notangelinajolie @tangledyarn @TheWooisStrong @Joeaj23 @SchrodingersKitty @findingschools4myboys who all came on here a couple of weeks back like me and have been a major source of reassurance to me at times. Thank you and get well soon. Flowers

onlinelinda · 01/04/2020 09:51

Morning everyone. I hope you continue to feel even a tiny bit better today.

I have continued to improve, just with occasional odd aches in my chest on and off, and feeling very chilled 7-830pm for some reason. I was Ok throughout the rest of the day, and cooked dinner again. I've noticed that my pulse is much better too, only fractionally above normal (63 normal, 70 today), according to my Fitbit).

Casino218 · 01/04/2020 09:52

Will miss you @longshot but I was just thinking this morning that I need to start focusing on my daughter and not this virus now for a while but will keep checking in now and again. Take care. Sorry about your job x

That's really good news @onlinelinda
So glad to hear you are much better

ofwarren · 01/04/2020 09:58

Lovely to see you getting back to some normality @longshot
Thank you for posting about your experience, it's been really helpful to me.

mymoonmyman2020 · 01/04/2020 10:07

So nice to hear your improvements @longshot and @onlinelinda

Day 10 here, felt much better but slightest bit of exertion/stress (homeschooling from bed!) and heart rate races up again

Other symptoms much better though, it’s (very slow) progress Smile

Standrewsschool · 01/04/2020 10:18

Isn’t Brufen similar to ibuprofen, and not recommended?

Had a poor nights sleep. I had that horrible feeling inside, almost as if you have been outside on a really cold day and inhaled too much cold air, and everything is burning, felt quite worried. Ended up taking a Gaviscon dual action tablet, and that seem to help.

notangelinajolie · 01/04/2020 10:27

Good morning all.
Day 22 and feel ok this morning. A little breathless from time to time yesterday but nothing anywhere near as scarey as the previous week's.
I will be going out for a walk today. It will be the first time I have left the house since March 12th. Not going far - just 5mins to the end of the road and back.
I do feel that I need to exercise my lungs to get better.
Hang in there everyone - and even if it feels like the teeniest pin prick there is light at the end of the tunnel. Hold on to that thought Flowers

EMichel102 · 01/04/2020 10:32

@onlinelinda wonderful and encouraging news!

@notangelinajolie @longshot I’m also really pleased to hear baby steps are in the right direction and upward trend. I can also feel myself slowly recovering inch by inch day by day even though my heart rate and chest pain goes crazy if I’m out of bed for more than a few minutes. When at rest I’m feeling more “normal”

SchrodingersKitty · 01/04/2020 10:41

I'm on day 22 like @longshot. I'm also feeling more normal the last day or so. I think I will also visit the thread less frequently, and try and get on with work. I have to make a decision about whether I am still infectious or not, so that I can take on some work in the house and relieve poor DH. I think it is unlikely that I'm going to be shedding any viruses they haven't been exposed to already.

Good to luck to you all - there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel. I'll report back now and then.

Cary2012 · 01/04/2020 10:41

@stayathomegardener

I'm well, and have been for 3 weeks, I think I had this late Feb early March. I pop in here to tell you lovelies that you will be ok, and you will recover.

Will also mention again that colleague had it for six weeks and she started Feb half term, lot's of underlying issues including scarring on lungs caused by previous pnemonia. And she is now fully recovered.

I'm here to support and reassure if I can. When I had it there was no epidemic here, no anxiety. I felt rough, but no where near as rough as I did three years ago when I had swine flu. It hit colleague harder, she said it was worse than flu, she had two courses of antibiotics, but managed at home. I got better. She got better. So will you.

So, my daily advice. Rest. Drink lots of water. Rest. Take paracetomol at correct doseage regularly, whether you need them or not, keep them in your system. Rest.

And did I mention: REST

I just wanted to let you know that I took a private swab and I have tested positive for Covid19. So for those of you who have been having similar symptoms and going through this journey with me on mumsnet - i am pretty sure all of us have it given how similar our symptoms are.

Feel a bit stressed knowing that i do officially have CV and so now a bit of a statistic so to speak.

Also on day 15 and keep thinking whether the worst is over or if there is more to come. I hope i have avoided hospitalisation at least.

user34254356 · 01/04/2020 10:45

@SchrodingersKitty @longshot glad you are on the mend and can actually feel confident enough now to step away from this thread. Your support has been great and i would really like it to hear from reassurances every now and then. Hopefully we will all get there in our own time.

TheletterZ · 01/04/2020 10:46

Can I join?

About 2 weeks in now, felt rough then better then really rough (racking cough etc...) the cough has mostly gone just occasionally now, still got a headache but it feels like I have been kicked in the ribs. I almost expect to see a bruise. How long does this last?

I am also absolutely knackered and want to just curl up in bed but not an option so sofa it is!

alittleprivacy · 01/04/2020 10:49

I almost want to say well done. Obviously that's a crazy thing to say to someone but you did the right thing getting the test done. While you are feeling discomfort and anxiety at having a definitive positive now, when the shock wears off, ultimately I think you will feel very glad of knowing for sure. I really wish I could have done a private test. If reliable antibody tests become available in the next few weeks, I will absolutely buy one if I can.

My breathing feels very weird today, it's like my airways are tingling or itchy. Every breath just sends this weirdness down my airways and through my chest.

YellowPrimroses · 01/04/2020 10:50

I got to day 7 today and had thought I was getting better but last night i had that feeling that I could not clear my chest and ended up having a panic attack about not being able to breathe which of course was no help at all to the situation. I walked around the house for an hour or so and eventually calmed down and this morning, I feel tired but marginally better.

What surprised me was the speed with which I went from completely fine and thinking I had recovered to basically not being able to breathe or clear my chest. It felt so congested.

I'm asthmatic so used to symptoms like that though it's not the same as asthma but it still panicked me. Hoping I'm out the woods now and it's just a road to recovery!

So glad to hear others have recovered - what a long road this is!

Standrewsschool · 01/04/2020 10:52

@TheletterZ - welcome .

Difficult to say how long it’s going on for.

Standrewsschool · 01/04/2020 10:53

Where do you get a private test done? I thought tests were in short supply?

Sambucus · 01/04/2020 10:59

@onlinelinda Thank you for the reassuring posts. It really helps. I’m on D16 and still have a raised temperature at some stage every day. The threads are so long I’m not sure how to see how things were for you as you progressed so I hope you don’t mind me asking if you had a fever that went on & on - and when it got better? I’m doing all the things you suggest - rest, fluids, paracetamol, just want to know it’s going to improve!
