Continued support for those who need a few kind words to help them through the dips.

Please do not come here to ask 'but how do you know if you haven't had a test'

My eyes still sting/hurt too and my vision goes blurry. Cough still minimal today as I said in my post at 15:40 today.

Knowhowufeel2 · 31/03/2020 17:06

This was my earlier post:

My cough is pretty mild (less often) today, more painful though.

My temp was up to 38.1°C overnight and this morning, but atm it's now normal-ish. The chest pain/pressure is the worst thing today and I'm absolutely exhausted. Hurts when I breathe a bit too.

I'm wondering if I maybe don't have it as I thought the cough would be worse than it's been today??

Just thought it would be worse so I'm wondering if I just have something else rather than CV??

Or does it come and go?

Bimbleboo · 31/03/2020 17:06

@ofwarren I saw you’d mentioned having a test now! Have you taken it yet? Wondering how you got on with it. Hoping you feel better soon!

ofwarren · 31/03/2020 17:09

@bimbleboo
I did the test this morning. Apparently I get the result in 2-3 days. I'll update on here.
I'm day 8 now though so I'm hoping it still shows on the swab.

user34254356 · 31/03/2020 17:20

one theory from me if anyone can give real life evidence - would the chest pains go away once the productive cough is gone and mucous /phlegm has come out?

ofwarren · 31/03/2020 17:20

What even is the breathlessness?
How can I have light-headed sensation and can't catch my breath, but have oxygen saturation of 100%?

user34254356 · 31/03/2020 17:21

@ofwarren i also did the test about 5 days ago and still not result. I am also doubtful I get a positive result as I am not sure if I managed to do the swabs correctly.

everythingisginandroses · 31/03/2020 17:22

@ofwarren I really don't know, but this has been the case for me too! Confused

stayathomegardener · 31/03/2020 17:22

@alittleprivacy I'm totally feeling that!We seem to be a forgotten lower tier of society.

user34254356 · 31/03/2020 17:22

I was told breathlessness to be when you can't construct a sentence without taking breaths intermittently. Both times I spoke to 111 I was told off for calling them because I was talking in complete sentences.

Casino218 · 31/03/2020 17:22

@user34254356 personally I think it's sort of pleurisy rather than phlegm. It's just inflammation and will go eventually with pain relief. You could try steam inhalation hot water bowl tea towel but don't burn yourself. Maybe eucalyptus oil in it. If you think it's phlegm that may help

ofwarren · 31/03/2020 17:22

I know what you mean @user34254356
I am certain this is Covid19, even if the test comes back negative. Apparently they are only 70% accurate anyway

stayathomegardener · 31/03/2020 17:23

@user34254356 I've never had the slightest cough in the last 20 days despite mad chest stuff 🤷‍♀️

user34254356 · 31/03/2020 17:25

@stayathomegardener @Casino218 so much for that theory! It was wishful thinking. Yesterday i was much more active and feeling "normal" and today I am back to how I was feeling a few days back.

Casino218 · 31/03/2020 17:33

@user34254356 and drink plenty of fluids. It stops phlegm getting sticky.

So casino to test this out, I've pretty bad chest pains at the moment, if I try an infared sauna for an hour and it eases would that then suggest inflammation as in plursey?
As pneumonia wouldn't lift in the same way...

Casino218 · 31/03/2020 17:38

@stayathomegardener I've never tried an infra red sauna. Does it work on other internal inflammatory conditions

The ambulance crew said there was no evidence of pluerisy on listening to my chest but said lots are reporting the same symptoms .. they said they are still learning about the virus and how it affects us but they think it may cause severe costocondritis

Casino218 · 31/03/2020 17:56

@Spacecadetagain I've read that somewhere else in terms of this virus.

I was told breathlessness to be when you can't construct a sentence without taking breaths intermittently. Both times I spoke to 111 I was told off for calling them because I was talking in complete sentences.

I had that for the first 5 days or so. I couldn't hold a conversation without gasping for breath. When I was have a phone consultation with my GP she asked if I was getting panicked because she thought the way I was breathing sounded like a panic attack. I felt completely calm though. I just physically couldn't talk without needing to gasp in big gulps of air.

Tbh, since I've been sick I've been calmer about the virus than I was for the month before. If I've caught it, I've caught it early and it's mild enough. If it's it, I feel very lucky. I had a flu in January and I felt worse then.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 31/03/2020 18:11

Oh, I have that then. Just spoke to my mother on the phone to reassure her I'm okay - effect somewhat spoiled by the fact I can't actually say a whole sentence due to breathlessness/sore throat. Bugger this thing. Day 8.

Spacecadetagain · 31/03/2020 18:27

@Casino218 it would certainly explain all our awful rib pain .. did anyone else get the terrible kidney pain too ?

alittleprivacy · 31/03/2020 18:28

I've just been reading up on costochondritus and that does sound like what I'm feeling. I don't want to risk ibuprofen to be on the safe side. I wonder if something like Deep Heat would help.

SchrodingersKitty · 31/03/2020 18:28

DH was just called by the person from the hospital checking on if he had any symptoms of corona virus before his appointment tomorrow (for lumbar puncture). I had sent him a list of my symptoms by day. They wanted to know the date he first got lassitude and other mild symptoms. That was 10 days ago and as a result they are postponing his appointment again. Not sure until when - they will call back tomorrow.

So this indicates that they are certainly not following the government's advice of '7 days and you're clear'. It also indicates that they are doing as much as they can to make the cancer unit safe for people going in there. I'm anxious that when he does go in there will likely be even more of the virus in the community (we are otherwise not going out at all), but it does give me a bit more time to hopefully get over the symptoms. So on balance, probably good?
