Weight gain or loss?

Just pondering, how much do you think your weight will alter over the next few weeks?

I'm in the gain camp. I'm menopausal, less active than usual, and eating more processed food, not a good combination.

Friends with young kids are saying they're losing weight already, a mix of running around after the children, and also cutting back on their own food to make sure the family are fed.

My weight will stay steady, I suspect. I am already fairly underweight, and I seem to be more active, not less, since this began! Not expecting to gain any.

monkeytennis97 · 30/03/2020 08:38

Have lost 8lbs in last two weeks but I needed to. Have a BMI of 40.6 and desperately trying to get it under 40 due to CV. Have running machine (although mostly fast walking and some jogging at mo), Really want to lose another 5lbs in next two weeks then will be under 40 BMI.

AnduinsGirl · 30/03/2020 08:40

I can feel already that I've put weight on and I feel vile. I was already very overweight. In this week's shop I bought some meal replacement shakes and am intending doing those for 5 days out of 7 (breakfast and lunch.) Unhelpfully, I have a partner who loves snacking on unhealthy shit and doesn't put weight on. :(

HollyHocks13 · 30/03/2020 08:54

I am overweight and put on weight very easily. However I've lost nearly half a stone over the past couple of weeks or so. I think it's the combination of worry and being more mindful of what I'm eating and only eating when I'm hungry to save food.

devildeepbluesea · 30/03/2020 08:55

I'm exercising lots just for something to do, and trying not to overeat. Am hoping for weight loss. I have no worries about running out of food though.

Thistlepicker · 30/03/2020 08:57

I fear that the only way I’m going to get out when all this is over, is when the firebrigade remove the gable end of our house and winch me.

LajesticVantrashell · 30/03/2020 09:07

I'm consciously trying to lose weight. A huge risk factor in CV is being morbidly obese or obese (I don't get why this isn't listed as an underlying health issue!!) and I'm a few lb's away from moving from the obese to the overweight category.

Plus I don't have the daily temptations of nipping to the shop or cakes at work or dinner with friends.

I can't control Coronavirus but I can control my weight and I'm determined for something good to come from this.

WarmCinnamonZoflora · 30/03/2020 09:09

eating too much because the DC are home and 3 meals a day is what we look forward too. going to gain I fesr.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 30/03/2020 09:10

Loss for now.

But if this keeps going on for a bit, then fuck knows.

Olawisk · 30/03/2020 09:10

Gain!
I have a young family but loads of food and loads of nicer food then I would normally have.
Including 15 Easter eggs for family that I probably won’t be able to give theme (got them just before it hit).
Supermarkets by me have tons of food.

Afterhours · 30/03/2020 09:10

I’ve lost half a stone in two weeks. The half a stone I’ve been trying to lose for five years.

No appetite, feeling under the weather, no inspiration to cook, bare fridge.

Olawisk · 30/03/2020 09:12

I’m a size 8-10 too and I weighed this morning. Iv gained 10lbs in 2 weeks. It’s tipped me in the the ‘overweight’ BMI section just so il start being a bit more restricted to lose some now incase push comes to shove with ventilators

mummyof2boys30 · 30/03/2020 09:14

Lost 1lb this week. My birthday today so will pig out and then back to normal tomorrow. My gym has went online so doing classes from home as normal

Bouncingbomb · 30/03/2020 09:15

Hopefully a loss, my BMI is 'overweight'. I have got more time to exercise than I would usually have and have drawn up a programme.

feelingverylazytoday · 30/03/2020 09:17

It's a loss for me. I'm rationing my food so I don't have to go shopping so often.

GatoFofo · 30/03/2020 09:24

Gain for me. Already 2lbs up thanks to stress snacking alongside DH and vastly reduced activity.
I need to get a grip and reduce my food intake, I think smaller portion sizes and healthier snacks is the answer.

polkadotpixie · 30/03/2020 09:35

I've lost 8lbs in the last 2 weeks. I'm too anxious to eat and my toddler is running me ragged so I don't have time anyway

Only 1lb to go to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight so I'm happy with the loss really

Ughmaybenot · 30/03/2020 11:09

I’m losing weight, but that’s because I spent part of December and the whole of January in New Zealand drinking a lot of beer and eating a lot of pies! I’m back working now, eating better and TTC so I’m not drinking and it’s all working

Tulipstulips · 30/03/2020 11:12

I’m getting fatter. I usually fast for part of the day when I’m working from home on my own, but at the moment DH is also WFH and DC is here - when they’re eating breakfast and lunch in front of me, it’s a lot harder not to join them!

catscatscatseverywhere · 30/03/2020 11:13

I think I will lose weight. I am young, eating very healthy and unfortunately I am rationing the food, because I don’t want to go shopping every now and then (sic!).

Caramel78 · 30/03/2020 11:14

I’m normally someone who gains weight so easily so I’m trying so hard to control myself whilst on lockdown and have smaller portions and 2 snacks a day. I could quite easily binge on food all day long (and I’m so tempted to at the moment) but I know how awful I’ll feel if I put back on the weight I lost last year. It’s hard though

DebbieFiderer · 30/03/2020 11:14

I'm losing, but I've been losing for a while (been doing SW since Sept) and still have a way to go. I haven't had too much of a change in my routine (key worker) so am able to stick with the good eating habits I have been developing.

loobyloo1234 · 30/03/2020 11:14

I fear that the only way I’m going to get out when all this is over, is when the firebrigade remove the gable end of our house and winch me.

This made me chuckle Grin

I am walking more than ever - my one a day exercise - and finding it easier to lose a bit of weight as im used to eating on the go so much with being busy at work, as Im now home cooking a lot. I am snacking on chocolate a bit though, it makes me feel better after a shit day. Hopefully my weight won't go up too much

fluffdeloop · 30/03/2020 11:15

losing since theres only essentials being purchased, nothing 'naughty' in the house.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 30/03/2020 11:17

I have lost 10lb in 2.5 weeks. Most of the I was WFH or in a very quiet office.

Clearly the cakes and biscuits and buffet lunches for meetings were impacting my weigh more.

Oddly, my 2 slim colleagues are putting weigh on. Probably because they arent as busy and cant go to the gym.

I usually stress eat, but found that I really dont have much appetite at the moment.

Not eating breakfast anymore. Usually having lunch, but cant face dinner.

Not like me at all, I could do to drop a few stone. I will be like new woman by the time I go back to the office.
