Sorry, six, not all six

BirdandSparrow · 29/03/2020 17:40

I don't know how the worldometer is sorting it but El Pais reported 862 yday and 868 today.

BirdandSparrow · 29/03/2020 17:41

No downward trend yet in Spain, but they have said that at least it's only 6 more than the day before. I see Italy has dropped again ever so slightly? Maybe beginning to reach the peak?

BirdandSparrow · 29/03/2020 17:42

Scroll down to the first bar graph and it shows the daily death tolls in Spain elpais.com/sociedad/2020-03-29/el-coronavirus-cierra-su-semana-mas-letal-con-838-nuevos-fallecidos-en-24-horas.html

BirdandSparrow · 29/03/2020 17:44

Italy may peak in within a week apparently www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/29/spain-poised-to-tighten-coronavirus-lockdown-after-record-daily-toll

fromlittleacorns · 29/03/2020 17:52

"Perhaps looking at the normal monthly death rates and comparing any differences would be helpful?"

cabbage king, fate (the poster not the concept) linked to the ons stats yesterday on the old thread - they show all deaths, and all deaths from respiratory diseases, for each week, for 2020 and past years. Yesterday the stats were only available up to week ending 13 March 20, so not possible to compare this week or last week with last year's figures yet.

Humphriescushion · 29/03/2020 17:59

Thank you bird, i will check that site. My mum is in spain as well so a worry. Stay safe.

BirdandSparrow · 29/03/2020 18:03

I hope she's OK, where is she?

Bufferingkisses · 29/03/2020 18:11

Thanks for the new thread

TheCanterburyWhales · 29/03/2020 18:14

Italy due to peak between 3rd and 10th of April apparently.

FATEdestiny · 29/03/2020 18:15

Will change of clocks skew things?

Yes it will. Data will cover 23h not 24h

I can't see the breakdown by hospital trust there

@fromlittleacorns - thank you Smile

fromlittleacorns · 29/03/2020 18:20

"Will change of clocks skew things?"

Tomorrow it will, as figures announced at 2pm are of the deaths from 5pm to 5pm the previous day. But in fact Barracker has pointed out on previous thread that the deaths announced during that 5pm - 5pm period did not necessarily occur in that period - rather the announcement is made that the death occurred, possibly a few days earlier. (Barracker, is that accurate summary?)

FATEdestiny · 29/03/2020 18:20

Perhaps looking at the normal monthly death rates and comparing any differences would be helpful?

We've not got enough data to make comparisons yet. But I'll keep tracking it as data is released.

That said, some of the figures quoted by the scientists on total deaths do talk about excess deaths - so the death toll over and above what we would expect a normal years death toll to be. Let there be no underplayimg here, we are not talking about hundreds/thousands of people who would have died anyway. We are talking hundreds/ thousands of extra deaths for this/year.

Data attached has ONS and worldometer as sources

Thanks for the new thread.

AndwhenyougetthereFoffsomemore · 29/03/2020 18:26

Thanks for the new thread - I'm really appreciating the calm and data-based analysis on here.

itsgettingweird · 29/03/2020 18:28

Fate interesting to see that before CV-19 the respiratory deaths so far this year were lowest in past 4 years and way below 2018.

Your data is clearly presented and thanks you for taking the time to do it.

Barracker · 29/03/2020 18:32

Fate that takes me to region, but not trust.

She is near alicante Bird which i dont think has been too badly hit. She has been ill for a few weeks ( unrelated) and now that is looking like a good thing since she has not been out. She has little idea of what is going on since she has no Spanish, and we just keep insisting she stay in.

FATEdestiny · 29/03/2020 18:49

You're right. I've just been searching for data by Trust and the only data that I can find is that published in Cambridge News - which is what you found (You screen shot earlier).

However.

I went looking for the source data Cambridge News used. The article said data had been released by NHS England but here is the NHS England Statistics page and I can find no such data:

www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/news/?filter-category=

So I can't confirm where Cambridge News got their source data from, or indeed how correct it is. As such, I'd be suspect over its accuracy.

BirdandSparrow · 29/03/2020 18:50

I think the worst regions are Barcelona and Madrid. I'm in Andalucía. I hope she's OK and is managing with food and so on, can she get deliveries? Lots of places are prioritising deliveries for vulnerable people.

Fartintheloft · 29/03/2020 19:20

Thank you so much @Barracker and to everyone who has contributed.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/03/2020 19:31

My mum is over from Andalucia, she came to take my gran to an essential doctor's appointment just before it got bad in Spain and is now stranded and stuck in my flat here with me. She has a busy whatsapp conversation with her yoga group in Spain and it seems like they are getting on ok buying food etc, and counting the days until it's relaxed.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/03/2020 19:34

My mum uses local expat forums, maybe there is something near your Mum in Alicante? I would imagine so. And a good way of finding community support.
