Just that really
It's interesting to know others people opinions, As the virus gets worse in uk although we had no new cases or new deaths Since yesterday so far 🤞🏻

OP posts:
dementedma · 28/03/2020 13:40

It will be extended, possibly for months

X1402 · 28/03/2020 13:40

This is pure shit

X1402 · 28/03/2020 13:41

I can’t do 12 weeks of this

JingsMahBucket · 28/03/2020 13:42

@ShanghaiDiva oh wow, that must be agonizing for both you and him. He’s so close to home yet so far. I hope he gets to go home soon and you as well. I’m here in the US and my husband is in the UK. We’re in the process of applying for my UK spouse visa. He was supposed to visit me here in the US next month but all travel has been canceled. We may not see each other until July now. Sigh.

DogInATent · 28/03/2020 13:44

It'll get rolled to the end of May, probably 3 weeks at a time.

There's a reason that employment protection measures are for three months initially. Schools aren't going to go back before September. Lockdown measures may get stricter before they start to loosen, but some measures will have to remain in place until there's a vaccine in order to protect the most vulnerable.

ShanghaiDiva · 28/03/2020 13:47

@JingsMahBucket
Tough for you too. Hopefully, you will see each other before July.

Potkettlexx · 28/03/2020 13:52

They’ll extend it!

MurrayTheMonk · 28/03/2020 13:53

I haven't seen any predictions that say the peak will be next Friday?

ChristmasCarcass · 28/03/2020 14:01

Our (London) NHS Trust are expecting our peak in about two months. So I would imagine lockdown will continue for at least three months, possibly longer. Then gradual relaxation of the rules over the next three months. So not back to normal before September, basically.

I do think schools will reopen in September.

Derbygerbil · 28/03/2020 14:03

although we had no new cases or new deaths Since yesterday so far

Can’t believe that you genuinely seem to believe there have been no cases or deaths today yet, crossing your fingers that this will continue Hmm... believing that despite the previous 24 hours seeing 2,000+ cases and 180+ deaths, the past 14 hours have miraculously had none at all!

They post them all at once (or rather four times, once for each UK country/province)

It will be extended because if the numpties that are not following it now, and my guess is stricter rules.

Blankscreen · 28/03/2020 14:11

Let's assume everyone is behaving properly and keeping distance from each other where will the new cases keep coming from?

I get it has possibly has a 10 day incubation period. School shut to the majority last Friday so we are on day 8.

Is it that cases are within families of in the same household or are the current new cases from where lockdown didn't happen quickly enough.

MigginsMrs · 28/03/2020 14:12

So naive @Cornettoninja. If you did what I do for a job you wouldn’t be!

theschoolonthehill · 28/03/2020 14:13

It will be extended through to the end of the summer I think. I thought all along that the schools would resume in September. I’m not so sure now. A family member, a healthcare worker, thinks it will be 12-18 months. How the economy will cope, I don’t know. We are literally trying to stay alive. That is all that matters if/when we arise, it will be to a very different world.

winniesanderson · 28/03/2020 14:15

@Shinyshoes2 Hope you are feeling ok. You can go out with a cough as long as you are following the isolation period guidelines beforehand. If you're on day 9 I'm presuming you've just done the 7 days in that you're supposed to do.

What do you think will happen at the end of the 3 weeks ?
cantkeepawayforever · 28/03/2020 14:15

I expect stricter rules in 2 weeks - e.g. nobody working in anything other than vital sectors going to work, no travelling more than 200m from the house except to collect food or medicine, no exercise outside the house, army delivering food to vulnerable, no public transport except for key workers with id etc. No overseas travel in either direction except rescue flights followed by quarantine.

Then extension of that for another 3 weeks (so 6 weeks in all).

Then relaxation down to current level of lockdown for at least another 3 weeks.

Then very gradual withdrawal of restrictions. Potential partial re-opening of schools in September, possibly children / staff attending 1 week in 3 with 2 weeks to see if symptoms develop in between and to allow social distancing in schools.

More normal life only if antibody testing become universal and indicates a suitable level of herd immunity, or when vaccine becomes available.

winniesanderson · 28/03/2020 14:17

Just to add if you've now become unwell again I obviously am not saying it's ok to be going out now.

awkwardbuttons · 28/03/2020 14:21

From the NHS website:

"Do not leave your home if you have symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) or live with someone who does.

This is called self-isolation.

If you are self-isolating, you must:

not leave your home for any reason, other than to exercise once a day – but stay at least 2 metres (3 steps) away from other people

If you have symptoms of coronavirus, you'll need to self-isolate for 7 days.

After 7 days:

if you do not have a high temperature, you do not need to self-isolate
if you still have a high temperature, keep self-isolating until your temperature returns to normal
You do not need to self-isolate if you just have a cough after 7 days. A cough can last for several weeks after the infection has gone."

Surely ShinyShoes is just following the guidelines?

Cornettoninja · 28/03/2020 14:29

I’m not naive @MigginsMrs, I’ve worked with plenty of work dodgers but normal rules don’t apply at the moment. There’s a genuine case for people to stay away from work, especially if their employer can’t/won’t reassure them and introduce compromises to protect their health as much as they can.

I’ve been treated like a skiver for following the 14 day isolation period for symptoms of a fever or cough in the household. A lot has changed in those two weeks and on Monday I am expected to return to work (for a role that could easily be done from home) to work in an office you can’t push your chair back in without hitting the person behind you or a wall and where colleagues work in repurposed cupboards with two to three people based in them.

My choice is to protect my employment or risk mine and my families health. I’ve accepted we will all get this virus at some point but I’d rather not get it when the NHS is on it’s knees and there’s a chance I’ll end up in a bed in a repurposed arena.

Your attitude is awful and completely lacking in any recognition of the fact that you work work with actual people.

AutumnRose1 · 28/03/2020 14:47

someone suggests 200m

that would not get a lot of people to the nearest shop or pharmacy.

Mrselh · 28/03/2020 14:47

No new deaths? there has been 260!

Thekindofwindowsfaceslookinat · 28/03/2020 15:14

Extended lockdown and tighter restrictions if numbers aren't drastically down

This.

ilovecakeandwine · 28/03/2020 15:28

I expect stricter rules in 2 weeks - e.g. nobody working in anything other than vital sectors going to work, no travelling more than 200m from the house except to collect food or medicine,
Where do some people get their ideas from ?
Again assuming everyone lives in a built up area with a shop on the same street .
My nearest corner shop is a 15 minute walk away.
How extreme would you like it to be locked away for 6 months and once a week stick your head out the window. You are going to get the odd idiot flouting the rules , that's for the authorities to deal with.
I'm all for tougher restrictions ie mustn't go further than 1 mile away and no more than 1 hour but be realistic 200m isn't .
I think we all agree this will go on for some time but restrictions like that people will die and not of the virus .

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2020 15:34

Shiny shoes had symptoms nine days ago
Presumably she self isolated for 7 days at which point you can return to (our new) normal as long as you have no symptoms apart from a cough which may persist. Which she confirma was the case.

What aren't people getting about that?
