Conspiracy - where is the queen?

Greybutterfly · 27/03/2020 22:18

Is it just me or has anyone else been wondering where the queen has been in all of this?

This is the biggest crisis she has faced under her reign and yet she has not appeared to offer and support, encouragement or condolences.

To me this is highly disrespectful or is there another reason she is unavailable ... is she herself suffering from the virus or could she have passed away and we are being shelved from the truth?

OP posts:

The Royals in general are really not supporting the nation during this crisis. I am disappointed.

That is unfair. They are encouraging herd immunity by going to their holiday homes across the country

Oh, wait. We are not meant to be doing that are we. Whoops silly royals

bigyellowduck · 28/03/2020 01:15

She really should make an effort to see us

Does she come to see you often? Why dont you just what’s app or zoom like everyone else who can’t see their usual social crowd. For a longer face to face google hangouts is good.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 28/03/2020 01:16

I agree that fucking Queen!

She drove vehicles during WW2, as she’s only in her 90s she should at least be volunteering as an Asda delivery driver. Fuckin fuming here 😡

Wiltinglillies · 28/03/2020 01:19

She should be healing the sick. Disgrace.

WombOfOnesOwn · 28/03/2020 01:19

As an American, it's all very puzzling to me:

Surely the single best thing about a monarchy is that you have the absolute most "deep bench" situation possible for continuity of (even symbolic) leadership. The US would be an utter disaster if the president and VP died in the same day and the Speaker of the House, NOT from the party who was elected into the executive, was installed in their place, our "lines of succession" have never been tested beyond one person dying and leaving enough time for a successor to appoint another VP before leaving.

But under monarchy, the 20 (or more!) "backup" candidates have known all their lives, especially given who the reigning monarch is and how she was not first in line, that they could be called upon to serve as monarch. They're all in one family, there would be little uproar or scandal about who was succeeding who even if somehow four or five royals were taken out by the same disaster or disease very rapidly. Even if William were to die, I would think it would be obvious that the rest of the royal family would circle round the little princes and princess and ensure they were well-advised and looked after, with little disruption (it would seem a bit cruel to end their royal status in such a circumstance, too, and even a lot of republicans would zip it for a while).

So why is it (and I mean this very sincerely, it's so puzzling to an outsider!) that it's treated as if the 94-year-old queen must be protected with extraordinary measures at absolutely all costs, to the point where it's considered normal not to even see your head of state?! And everyone nods along. Imagine if Morocco hadn't seen its king and queen for weeks in the midst of national crisis, not even on a screen. You'd find it weird, even if one was vulnerable for some reason. I think the only reason it's considered normal is the extreme deference it seems many have to this family.

bigyellowduck · 28/03/2020 01:25

Yes usually in the uk we believe that the old should be fed to the dogs when they can no longer work, she has to keep going or it is the pedigree chum factory for her.

Or maybe we have a society where we try and protect all of the young, old and vulnerable. It is part of what makes. Is British , we call it the welfare state and it includes the NHS

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 28/03/2020 01:31

Could you all kindly agree on her age please? 92? 93? 94? Which is it? Confused

Chloemol · 28/03/2020 01:35

She is at Windsor , she sent a message last week and has been advised not to do anything more at the moment and let the Government crack on with daily briefings. There is nothing disrespectful in that

bigyellowduck · 28/03/2020 01:36

Could you all kindly agree on her age please? 92? 93? 94? Which is it?

Depends on if you think she was substituted after birth with the child of the gardener surely? Or if you believe that she was taken by aliens age 2?

bigyellowduck · 28/03/2020 01:37

She is at Windsor , she sent a message last week

I must be the only person in the country not in her what’s app group

pallisers · 28/03/2020 01:38

so every old person in the UK is treated with the same level of consideration and protection as the Queen. That is lovely to hear. I don't see this in the newspapers but still, great to hear.

Or do you mean the Queen is receiving normal care from the welfare state and the NHS? That is amazingly egalatarian and I didn't expect it but great for you British.

bigyellowduck · 28/03/2020 01:44

so every old person in the UK is treated with the same level of consideration and protection as the Queen. That is lovely to hear. I don't see this in the newspapers but still, great to hear.

Every person over 70 has been asked to stay at home. 1.5 million vulnerable people have been identified and sent a letter with additional contact numbers and helplines. If they don’t have families there are volunteers set uk to help them and from next week apparently they will all have allocated support if they need it. More than half a million people have signed up to volunteer to help them. The 1.5 million can register their nhs number for priority food and medicine deliveries.

Is that the response you wanted? The country is stepping up to help the most vulnerable yes.

You need to read a different newspaper

bigyellowduck · 28/03/2020 01:47

Oh and every elderly person in the uk receives free medical care and has a guaranteed minimum income and is eligible for housing support which ensures that they have a place to live.

eaglejulesk · 28/03/2020 02:08

She has always been an extremely active, busy lady and to suddenly go from that to nothing is odd.

Haven't most of us been up until now?? For goodness sake, go and find a hobby OP, this thread is just ridiculous!!!

Thepigeonsarecoming · 28/03/2020 03:43

It’s ok people, she’s fine. My brothers, friends dog told me she’s just busy driving. Stobart lorry

bettybeans · 28/03/2020 03:47

She's 93. 94 next month.
My life and feelings about this situation won't be affected one way or the other by a royal speech. Best she just focuses on staying well and alive, like every other elderly person.

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 28/03/2020 04:48

I'm in the Queen's whatsapp group and she sends her best and is doing well and delivering food to NHS staff. Oh and Op she thanks you for your concern and is sorry for disrespecting you, but has been a bit busy innit.

Absentwomen · 28/03/2020 05:00

" S'alright, I facetimed her over a cheeky glass of sherry just this evening."

'Dies with laughter'

How was she @JemimaPuddleCat?

MangoFeverDream · 28/03/2020 05:10

Surely you are not daring to criticise William and Kate for going to their second home are you ? After their children clapped for the nhs (From Norfolk)

😂🤣😂

Ks0708 · 28/03/2020 05:21

No offence, but who cares where the Queen is. She doesn't do anything. She's quite irrelevant to this crisis and I can't imagine most of the population give a toss what she's doing right now.

HeddaGarbled · 28/03/2020 07:54

I doubt the OP gives a toss either but casting around for someone to criticise for spurious reasons seems to be the way that most people are coping with the current crisis. Every other single person on the planet has been done on these threads in the last few days so we may as well start on the Queen.

Who else haven’t we done? Shall we have a thread about newsagents? Bob Geldof? Flautists? Stamp collectors?

Triglesoffy · 28/03/2020 07:59

Oh please god no, not a thread about Bob Geldof. Shock😩

okiedokieme · 28/03/2020 08:00

She's at Windsor, doing what all older people have been told to do, staying indoors!

HoffiCoffi13 · 28/03/2020 08:08

There should be continuous praise for the nhs and the country as a whole

Continuous? What, daily? Hourly? Every minute?
She released a statement last week!
