@longshot started a new thread as the other filled up and I thought you were poorly and people would be wanting to find out how you were doing.

OP posts:
treedragon · 29/03/2020 10:24

Ohh and can cause people to dry cough and have dry eyes.

EMichel102 · 29/03/2020 10:34

@treedragon even the weather is against us! That would explain my new tickly cough today maybe that I’ve never had

dontdisturbmenow · 29/03/2020 10:37

So many accounts of a sore throat, yet statistics say sore throat experienced by less than 15%.

Could it be that there is another virus going around, or that it has permuted a bit from the main symptoms experienced by the Chinese, from whom the statistics are derived?

Bornlazy · 29/03/2020 10:47

My sore throat wasn’t like a tonsillitis type it was more of a raw scratchy throat. I would have thought it would be more common than the statistics as the virus attaches itself to the throat before moving down into the lungs.

I unfortunately have had no loss of appetite apart from a few days at the start. Thought I might have emerged from this looking thinner but alas no.

Casino218 · 29/03/2020 10:47

@dontdisturbmenow yes but 15% of the cases is an awful lot of people. The 111 info is far too simplistic and I notice the Covid tracker now added separate box for additional symptoms too

It also says that diarrhoea is rare on the symptoms to look for but numerous posters on here are saying they’ve had it. It was what I started with and my mum was shouting at me saying its not a symptom.

My mother in law said “do you think they aren’t publicising diarrhoea because people are already panic buying loo roll”

Daytimes, whilst I physically feel as poorly, as so much easier to deal with. Windows open, birds chirping, people meandering by the window, its far less frightening than the dead of night.

MellowMelly · 29/03/2020 11:00

@Needsomegoodnews yes it did clear up for her in about a day and then like other posters said, she had the feeling of a lump stuck in her throat. I call it the catarrh hammock. You swallow and think it’s gone and then ‘boing’ it seems to ping back up again.

WanderingLost167 · 29/03/2020 11:01

I had days and days of cramps and bloating, stabbing pains, under ribs, high in my abdominal cavity. Diarrhoea came at the end, almost a relief

It so depends on how people view their symptoms and that can change between cultures.

My sore throat was a 1/10. I don't know if I even mentioned it to doctor because when you feel like you are suffocating that is the only thing you can think of. So we need to know how have they collected these symptoms? Did they track daily or ask patients to remember once they'd recovered? Did they ask for top 3 symptoms or all symptoms? Was it patient reported or doctor reported? Was it only from those who recovered? Etc. Data means a lot less when you can't access the questions and methods for obtaining it.

@TheDrsWife46 it sounds like you're doing all the right things. Keep resting but do remember eating is so important. Your body is using lots of energy fighting this and you have to give it the fuel to do so. Can your husband get you smoothies and meal replacement shakes?

treedragon · 29/03/2020 11:07

My right nostril has been bleeding. It has a habit of doing that when air is dry. My nose and sinuses feel full with dry gunk. Like they have narrowed to being like a straw.

KinderWild · 29/03/2020 11:16

I have been feeling rotten for over a month now. Only in the last week did I think it could be covid. And have started actually resting. Before that I was pushing myself.

I am on antibiotics from the docs. 4 days in. My left lung is really painful, pain towards the bottom in my back and also in my shoulder blade. Does anyone else have this?

I've had flu twice before and felt extremely ill and completely wiped out, on one occasion being take to hospital with suspected sepsis. But this illness comes with a feeling of terror. At times I have had a sense of something really bad about to happen, and been scared of sleep. Two nights ago every time I closed my eyes I could see fire. Slightly worried that sounds mad. But it was there for about two hours.

I've also struggled to think or talk clearly.

baroqueandblue · 29/03/2020 11:17

I've had worsening pain in my right lung for almost 2 weeks and this morning it was the worst and scariest it has been. Came to the conclusion I might have pleurisy as a bacterial after-effect of coronavirus (if I've had it). I've got 3 doxycycline capsules leftover from a sinus infection last year so once I was able to get out of bed (the pain Sad) I took one. Google says it's used to treat pneumonia too, which I'm scared the lung pain might also indicate.

Haven't had much of a cough but when I have coughed in the last 2 weeks it has occasionally been dry, but has also been productive at times. Have had the shakes a couple of times, including this morning. Terrible back and rib pain for 2 weeks, but this morning it's definitely my lung even though my breathing isn't too bad.

Should I call 111? When I spoke to my GP 10 days ago the receptionist said we have to ring 111 for respiratory problems, but surely they would only tell me to call my GP in the morning? I feel the worst I've felt this last couple of weeks this morning, and have taken the doxy because I fear this is getting out of control now, but also don't think I'm a hospital case if I can still breathe pretty well? In a perfect world I'd just phone the GP tomorrow and ask for more doxycycline, as only have two capsules left now and intend to take another in a few hours to try to blast it, then hopefully one a day until it has gone.

ofwarren · 29/03/2020 11:21

@Kinderwild
It sounds like what a lot of peoples symptoms are on this post.
The feeling of impending doom and terror. The disorientation, brain fog and confusion.
I think most of us have experienced those symptoms.

TheDrsWife46 · 29/03/2020 11:22

I think maybe call 111 for advice because now you have started antibiotics and cant complete a cycle. I can see why you took it, yesterday I was ready to take four year old valium that I had left over from a nervous flying. Its that sense of taking something, anything, to be treating it.

EMichel102 · 29/03/2020 11:24

Just thought I’d share something I found helpful - sleeping on my front without a pillow has really helped me nap this am. Might help a bit with the other symptoms too. I remember someone posted this as good advice from some minimal research in China and seems to help a bit!

confusednortherner · 29/03/2020 11:27

I've been reading these and not joined in till now but do wonder if I'm one of you too.....
I had what I though was a horrible cold start on 9th March. I felt rough all that week then felt fine at weekend and it came back following Monday and I nearly didn't go to work but my colleague was off so carried on.
All week I felt like I had a hair or something at top of throat then on the Friday my chest started to hurt, a general ache and some indigestion and I did come over hot which is unusual for me. By Tuesday I stayed in bed as my chest hurt so much I called gp who prescribed antibiotics for chest infection and I'm still in bed now!
I've had no fever and only very occasional cough which isn't unusual as I cough all winter normally. Feeling terrible I might have passed this on unknowingly ☹️

Porcupineinwaiting · 29/03/2020 11:27

@EMichel102 I heard about that but thought it might make it harder to breath. Maybe I'll try it later.

Humphrey has wandered off for a bit so now I'm resting and waiting for the afternoon session.

KinderWild · 29/03/2020 11:29

Thanks @ofwarren.

Without a test it feels off to say out loud that I think I have covid, for fear of being called a hypochondriac.

Thankfully we have been self isolating for 20 days now so hopefully won't have passed it on.

I would speak to the gp @baroqueandblue. I spoke to mine over the phone and he was keen to prescribe antibiotics as in his words, id given it a really good go at getting better. My O2 has been fine throughout this.

I have been taking lots of vitamin c and d throughout. And a multi vit. Just to note - with doxy you can't take certain vitamins 2 hours either side.

Hope everyone feels better soon xx

longshot · 29/03/2020 11:34

@EMichel102 I tried sleeping on my front last night, I did it a bit (I think) but found it felt very heavy, however today my chest feels a bit better I think.

@SchrodingersKitty I think I’m entering the vertigo stage. I feel weird if I do anything other than sit still, can just manage to read. Music / noise makes it worse.

I’ve done nothing today, resting. Pretty fed up now but just trying to tell myself I’m not getting worse! I’m achey again and just feeling kind of spaced out. Breathing is ok and chest is better than it was but still not right. I thought I could go for a walk when I woke, literally no hope of that now!

longshot · 29/03/2020 11:37

@KinderWild that’s the same sort of duration I’ve had it. I still feel pretty bad, the first few days I wasn’t too poorly, just cold / mild flu symptoms then got a got a lot worse about 13 days ago. A lot of time in bed since then!

Where are you? There are lots of people around me now with symptoms although most seem less unwell than me which is upsetting. I’m in the North West.

SchrodingersKitty · 29/03/2020 11:38

@longshot - oh god, vertigo! I’ve had two vile episodes of that in my lifetime. Can really do without it now. I do hope you feel better soon.

Moonlite · 29/03/2020 11:39

My OH has been diagnosed over the phone by GP as having covid, no test. I am absolutely terrified as weve all been in lockdown for 2 weeks apart from me running to shop for food. His symptoms are- headache, temperature, chills, throat pain that comes and goes, burning in chest, sore legs and back and feeling like he cant catch a breath. Hes staying away from us in a bedroom to himself.

Symptoms came on suddenly 2 days ago. The day before when he had no symptoms I was delivering food supplies to my mum and his elderly parents and now I'm terrified I may have passed it on to them Sad although I dropped the stuff on their steps and backed away. We have 3 small kids at home and I'm just so worried.

I cant understand how my oh caught it when he hasn't left the house in 2 weeks it's been me doing all essential shopping. I've no symptoms at all except pressure on my throat (which I am pretty sure is caused by anxiety) I am just so worried that I am a carrier and have been leaving food shopping to our vulnerable parents

SchrodingersKitty · 29/03/2020 11:40

@lomgshot. I seem to remember travel sickness pills worked for the vertigo in the past - worth a try?

EMichel102 · 29/03/2020 11:40

@longshot hang in there as it sounds like you’re so close to the end. Patience is so hard when it’s such a long recovery time. I can relate to the vertigo thing I think - pretty light headed and spacey / floaty.
