BBC are saying 900 deaths in Italy in the last 24hrs, tell me I have misheard that

News said earlier that there would be the usual 5pm conference, today led by Gove. Has it been cancelled?

I've just gone cold reading those numbers from Italy. I can't comprehend it at all and feel so, I don't even know the word for how I feel. Those poor families.

A lot of people fled from N Italy as it was being locked down and headed South. I think a lot of new cases sprung up there.

Can someone explain who are making up the negative tests? If they are only testing people in hospital how can there be so many? Or so they have to test the same people every day assuming one day they don't have it and the next they might??
