Don't know for sure if its corona but I expect he will be tested now but I'm very worried, he has heart health problems so isn't healthy to begin with but now his oxygen sat levels are low so they've taken him in.

Just need a hand hold I suppose. I have to find the positives here, at least its before the peak so there are beds.

Really good news - that's what they do when they feel the patient may be able to breathe on their own over time. They'll do it over a couple of days to see how he fares out without the ventilator. Best of luck to him - sounds like he's fighting it.

Natsku · 06/04/2020 20:13

Thank you all for your support here. Things are really starting to look positive.

Hi Natsku,

Thinking of you and your family. I hope your Dad continues to improve.

Toybox88 · 06/04/2020 23:01

Hi OP I'm so glad things are going in the right direction.

MrDarcysWetShirt · 07/04/2020 09:29

So happy to hear this positive news

YakkityYakYakYak · 07/04/2020 16:23

So great to hear that things are looking positive. I’m really rooting for your Dad @Natsku

Natsku · 07/04/2020 17:15

Thanks.

No change today but he's coping with the lower level of oxygen.

Hardtoknowwhat · 07/04/2020 17:25

Thank you for updating us, OP.
Really hope your dad continues to improve, I've been returning to this thread for your updates and am also rooting for you. Flowers

Bizawit · 07/04/2020 18:36

Coping with the lower levels of oxygen is perfect - suggests he’s getting better. What they’ll be looking to do is gradually reduce the oxygen - monitor for a while and see if he’s coping/ stable- and then reduce it a bit more until they are confident he can breathe on his own again and so can extubate. Sounds really promising Flowers

Natsku · 07/04/2020 19:40

Glad it sounds promising, I was worried I was a bit over optimistic about it and don't want to get my hopes up but it does sound like its going the right way now.

OP posts:
BoreOfWhabylon · 07/04/2020 20:52

Yes Natsku, it really does. He's not out of the woods yet but it does sound like he's getting there.

Natsku · 08/04/2020 11:58

Just got today's update, they say he's slowly improving and is on 35% oxygen now although his infection markers (I assume they mean CRP level) haven't changed.

Wishing all the very best for your dad OP

Camopetals · 08/04/2020 12:44

Bless him, he's doing great

Camopetals · 08/04/2020 12:44

How have you been OP?

coronade · 08/04/2020 12:53

That’s good news. Even a tiny improvement is a step in the right direction. Hope you and your mum are feeling more positive now and managing to eat and get some sleep. Especially your mum as she will need to nurse him when he’s out of hospital.

Natsku · 08/04/2020 12:58

I've been ok thanks camopetals, much less worried now.

I expect my mum will have to retire early so she can take care of him. She's due to retire this autumn so not that much earlier and she was considering doing it anyway.

Thinking of you and your family xx

MotherOfDragonite · 08/04/2020 16:21

@Natsku, it might be more favourable for her pension status and contributions if she goes on emergency family leave -- eg takes the time unpaid, but it doesn't count as early retirement and pension contributions can still be made. Please get her to check this before she retires early!

Natsku · 08/04/2020 17:05

Oh OK I'll tell her to check that, thanks

Continued slow progress, they're reducing the sedation a bit now. Fever is up and down.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 09/04/2020 12:57

Hoping all goes well as they reduce sedation

coronade · 09/04/2020 12:59

What day is he on since it started?
At least he is progressing in the right direction. Stay positive.
You and your mum must both be emotional exhausted. X

Noworrieshere · 09/04/2020 13:05

Sending love to you Natsku and your family. Such a stressful time when you can't visit and you don't want to be a nuisance to the nurses. The family liaison person is a good thing.
I hope your dad continues to improve slowly but surely. It seems like it is a long haul to recover.

Natsku · 09/04/2020 13:37

What day is he on since it started? not sure what day he got ill but its two weeks today since he went to the hospital and 12 days since he got put on a ventilator.

I hope he won't be uncomfortable with reduced sedation but I expect there must be some level of discomfort. Poor dad :(
