Who is drinking more?

Cocoandclive27 · 24/03/2020 19:19

Drinking so much more at home. Stressed, anxious and bored. Seems like opening a bottle is something to look forward to.

Usually only drink at weekends but every day feels like the weekend now all routine is gone.

I'm confident it won't become a problem but I'll probably put on a few lbs at least!

Anyone else?

Yes!

Squidsister · 24/03/2020 19:26

Yes. We were previously only drinking Thursday-Sunday. Now I need a drink every night. Calms me down after Boris’s evening shitshow.

On the plus side, I am drinking less coffee now I am not having to get up at the crack of dawn to go to work.

Hollyhead · 24/03/2020 19:26

No, but only because we don't have any in! I am going to try and stick to drinking 1 bottle of wine over Fri/Sat/Sun as normal. That's not to say I didn't consider a glass of wine whilst working from home today!

wildthingsinthenight · 24/03/2020 19:27

Me! And wine too which I don't usually drink.

superram · 24/03/2020 19:28

I’m not but only because it’s a slippery slope. I tend to only drink in the week if I go out. I’m actively choosing not to but I’d love a glass of red.

WatchingFromTheWings · 24/03/2020 19:28

Yes! Currently working our way through a bottle of gin bought 3 christmases ago! When that runs out, there's more gin, disaronno and vodka. Also some spiced rum but I can only drink that in hot chocolate .

Peapod29 · 24/03/2020 19:28

Yes! I said I wouldn’t drink mon to thurs this week, just having a glass of red now!

Smithesque · 24/03/2020 19:29

Yes. I would be a Friday and Saturday imbiber but have introduced Wednesday (and maybe Sunday) in aid of sanity. I work from home so am a stay at home mum too (do all the parenting and house work while dh hides at work usually), both our incomes have disappeared but it's looking like only he will be able to claim (we earn equal amounts but it transpires the accountant, on his instruction, puts it all through as his income and I am just a wife) .

Anyway I'm sure we're not the only ones discovering truths about each other so f*ck it, if booze helps us gets through the next 6 weeks without a murder conviction then booze it must be!

devildeepbluesea · 24/03/2020 19:30

Oh yes. Had a case of wine delivered a week or so ago and working my way steadily through that. Night off tonight and tomorrow though. I'm running a Zoom pub quiz on Thursday though, so I'll be back with glass in hand by then...

elQuintoConyo · 24/03/2020 19:34

No. I need a clear head as I'm working from home, 4 hours video calls a day. DH works at home anyway, and with an 8 year old, a dog and living in a flat with no garden, we have to entertain differently, is mydtvtsje fig outside early in the morning for a wee, can't just open the back door and let her wee by the roses, or let DS run around and spend hours on the trampoline.

Today is day 9 of lockdown, I'm not in UK.

insancerre · 24/03/2020 19:36

Yes
I’m Day 4 of 7 days self isolation and it’s my birthday tomorrow
And I’m back to work on Monday

PicsInRed · 24/03/2020 19:38

No drinking at all. Want to maintain the best possible chance of a mild illness.

MotherOfAllNameChanges · 24/03/2020 19:39

Yes!

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 24/03/2020 19:40

Me

TheReelSlimShady · 24/03/2020 19:41

Oh god yes, I rarely drink midweek, and it's become a nightly thing. But not excessively, just a glass. Large one, though.

Interestingly though, I'm exercising a lot more, I think because I'm aware I'm eating and drinking more!

Therunecaster · 24/03/2020 19:42

No. Stopped a week ago to have a clear head. Found it was making me more anxious the next day.

MysweetAudrina · 24/03/2020 19:42

No, am enjoying wfh and having kids around. I am normally up and out at 6am every morning and don't get home until 7. This is my 2nd week of wfh and kids being off and we have a nice routine in place. Am way less stressed than normal and like waking up with a clear head so the following day goes well.

Floobydoodoo · 24/03/2020 19:43

Yes! Not much else to do.

HairyFloppins · 24/03/2020 19:43

Yes! I even done a Virgin Wines order.

I need to stop. I will be a fat alcoholic by the end of this and I need to be healthy.

Jolonglegs · 24/03/2020 19:44

Yes! We've stopped having 3 nights off each week, and seem to be drinking far too much, but its a
great prop.

reefedsail · 24/03/2020 19:44

Like PicsInRed, I have actually stopped even though I could kill for a drink because I'm thinking being as non-toxic as possible will help when the virus hits.

Growingboys · 24/03/2020 19:45

Not at all - I gave up in December. TBH I might have a glass to celebrate once this is all over, but at the moment I am staying dry to help my immune system and also my mood - I am much happier not drinking.

But I totally get everyone who IS drinking - usually that would be me. And I am sending my ancient mother Ocado orders packed with booze to keep her entertained.

breakingbetter · 24/03/2020 19:47

Yep, a bottle of red wine a night between DH and I, we barely every drank in the house before this.

Codswalloped · 24/03/2020 19:48

Wine, every night. Really cross at myself tbh.

Ondalay · 24/03/2020 19:49

I'm actually drinking less. But because that was my intention anyway - with or without COVID.
