@NemophilistRebel that doesn't include England.

Bluntness100 · 25/03/2020 19:33

That’s Scotland Northern Ireland and Wales. England is missing.

AvocadoOwl · 25/03/2020 19:38

Figures have never been as late as this.

Not sure there is anything to be gained from holding on to them so I'm assuming they've had trouble rounding up numbers from everyone reporting them. Presumably lots of smaller hospitals will be joining the reporting chain which might complicate things?

IronNeonClasp · 25/03/2020 19:40

Gah thanks @defthand.

Was talking to my friend about when things will go back to 'normal'. Probably never again when you really think about it.

Lifesavesocialdistance · 25/03/2020 19:40

It's so late what's going on!

StrawberryJam200 · 25/03/2020 19:40

That story about the 36 yr old mother who died is disturbing.....

redstararnie76 · 25/03/2020 19:40

So at what point do we assume they've forgotten and gone home without uploading the latest figures?! :-)

AKAanothername · 25/03/2020 19:41

There seems to be a bit of a delay in tests being processed. I only have a sample of one but that test result has taken almost a week to come through. Tested night of 17/18 March and only told of positive result yesterday.

EightNineTen · 25/03/2020 19:42

All they seem to be interested in is getting people back to work.

Obviously that's important, but they don't seem interested in people actually being ill with the disease.

I get the feeling they don't want the antibody test so that people can be relieved and be able to go back out into the world, part of which includes work, but has many other elements too. Just want them back at work so they're no longer a drain.

Fartintheloft · 25/03/2020 19:48

Still nothing been released yet, only figures from Scotland and Wales.

As of 9am on 24 March 2020, a total of 90,436 people have been tested, of which 82,359 were confirmed negative and 8,077 were confirmed positive. 422 patients in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.

TheRealHousewife · 25/03/2020 19:48

@HelenaDove what an undignified and appalling way in which to die :( Perhaps Kayla could have been saved if she had been admitted to hospital.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/03/2020 19:49

@FeatherCastle, your landlord can't stop you changing the meters from prepayment. You don't even need permission.

Fartintheloft · 25/03/2020 19:50

Bit late posting that 😂 it was meant to be to @NemophilistRebel

WhyNotMe40 · 25/03/2020 19:50

@AKAanothername is it yourself who has tested positive? If so, would you care to share symptoms on a day by day basis?

Sunshinesky1981 · 25/03/2020 19:51

The thing with the figures, even if they are having trouble counting them or getting the results in then surely they can just put an announcement out at say 6pm to say figures have not been able to be counted and confirmed for the day. And that the days figures will be posted in an extra announcement tomorrow at X time ? Then they could announce it on news programs and stop people continuing to worry and look for updates

Imerc · 25/03/2020 19:57

I didn't know that quartz. I'm reading about influenza infecting immune cells and then other immune cells killing them

FeatherCastle · 25/03/2020 20:03

Thank you NoWord that's certainly different to what I've been told and I haven't had time to look! I tried once about 5 years ago and the energy company said no so now I wonder why.

Now I just need time to fix it.. Probably not wanting grubby hands here configuring meters in the coming weeks...

FeatherCastle · 25/03/2020 20:04

These figures are very late

Imerc · 25/03/2020 20:04

Does say though that this infection is a result of white blood cells engulfing the virus rather than the virus attacking them

FAQs · 25/03/2020 20:05

Are China’s figures raising again after a few of free/low days? I haven’t followed for a couple of days.

AvocadoOwl · 25/03/2020 20:05

I get the feeling they don't want the antibody test so that people can be relieved and be able to go back out into the world, part of which includes work, but has many other elements too. Just want them back at work so they're no longer a drain.

Rightly so, in my opinion. It's not about people being a drain it's about people's livelihoods, their mental health, and our economy. It's about successful businesses small/medium/large that are going to go bust even after they've had their short-term govt bail out. People seem to hear 'economy' and think of rich fat cats lining their own pockets but the economic impact of all this is going affect everything. It's going to affect every single one of us for a long time. Absolutely we should be focused on getting people back to work if they are immune.

Lives come first but I'm all for antibody tests being used to get people back out there (after the NHS and other key workers have the tests they need of course).

CricketCrocket · 25/03/2020 20:07

I think China’s have gone up but they’re mainly imported cases

Quartz2208 · 25/03/2020 20:07

@Imerc can I make a suggestion that you stop reading medical articles. They have a habit of saying things which sounds scarier and more complicated than they actually are. Legal articles are often the same

MarshaBradyo · 25/03/2020 20:08

Me too Avocado and I’m pretty sure it’s the ones who test as having had it and who can get back to work and normality will be pleased. I know I’d feel great if it were me.
