Are these things allowed in lockdown?

These weren’t included in Boris’s list but are things affecting me currently:

Car due for mot Friday (need to wait til then for pay day). Need it to get to my essential job.

Hermes/other courier deliveries - I’ve sent loads of stuff this weekend that I sold on EBay. Non essential. Old baby toys. They’re waiting to be delivered to my buyers. Will they still be delivered or should I start refunding?

OP posts:

Will Courts be open In particular Magistrates Courts . Anyone know?

Most courts are still operating, but remotely through phone or Skype.

I have to say, though, that many of the posts on this thread show why lockdown was necessary and I suggest hasn’t gone far enough. Soon Boris will have to remove the allowance for exercise.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 24/03/2020 00:24

Skittlesss - b&q will not be open. My mum works for them and was emails tonight to say they will be closed to the public tomorrow. She is still expected to go into work tomorrow regardless and help put stock away.

TheManFromTheTownHall · 24/03/2020 00:25

The supermarket I went into today only had 3 bunches of spring onions and 2 honeydew melons in the fruit and veg section. They had 1 readymeal in the chiller section. They did have some bacon and sausage but no other meat.

TheCatsBlanket · 24/03/2020 00:35

Will criminals, burglars, car thieves and general gobshites obey the rules by staying in I wonder?

MiniMum97 · 24/03/2020 00:35

Why are post offices and banks staying open when people are only allowed out for exercise? Or does this count as shopping for necessities?

fikel · 24/03/2020 00:35

Thank you for the updated advice, takeaways are on the permitted list

Inappropriatefemale · 24/03/2020 00:38

@changemynamechangemynamewhen What you would tell me I’m like an episode of The Simpson’s?!Hmm I am not risking yours or your families health, talk about overreacting! I simply stated my opinion about the lockdown not being official as in it’s not illegal to go out and I had already said this when someone came along (though it wasn’t you) and mentioned what I said about Cafe Nero being open as an episode of The Simpson’s! There are other ways to say something, I never once said I was going out unnecessarily, I can see the park outside my window which is how I know people have been there and I travelled home tonight from seeing my family as I had zero food and my mum took me shopping for food.

I don’t believe for a minute if we were all in a room that anyone would say we were like The Simpson’s, not a chance!

FenellaVelour · 24/03/2020 00:38

Countries in lockdown allow dog toileting more than once a day. We're not in lockdown

We are not in lockdown?
Eckhart did you miss tonight’s announcement?
We are most definitely in lockdown.

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 24/03/2020 00:41

@fikel are takeaways essential ? Really. Cook your own food.
@Olawisk
By using takeaways we reduce the need to panic buy, hoard and visit the supermarket generally, because we are not using up our own food stocks. We are also supporting local businesses.

Inappropriatefemale · 24/03/2020 00:41

It’s fairly normal to think of your own circumstances in this situation and then comes thinking of others, it’s human nature imo.

Itsjustmee · 24/03/2020 00:43

FenellaVelour
Thank you it’s a 4hr drive to the court one way
No hotel now as they are closed
So it means driving up at 4am in the morning
I will try to ring them tomorrow

MinkowskisButterfly · 24/03/2020 00:46

*RoseDog

My dog gets 3 half hour to 45 minutes walks a day, I'm quite happy to shorten them but you can't just take a dog out once a day, that's bloody cruel!*

As is infecting countless people with a killer virus because of your blatant disregard of the rules.

And this is why we need a much stronger lockdown than has been implemented, because people are stupid.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/03/2020 00:49

Why are post offices and banks staying open when people are only allowed out for exercise? Or does this count as shopping for necessities?

They're essential services. Not everyone can do everything online.

Eckhart · 24/03/2020 00:52

Fenella Yes, I did. My point about the dog walking remains. It's something that's being allowed in lockdowns in other countries due to animal welfare standards. And yet to query whether we're allowed to do it here is to be the thickest of all the thick, and the same as somebody who is concerned about the welfare of their false nails. It seems.

Eckhart · 24/03/2020 00:57

@MinkowskisButterfly So, cruelty to dogs is now law? Just to clarify, we're talking about walking them round the block to pee, not getting together for hours in the park, hugging and kissing other dog owners.

Inappropriatefemale · 24/03/2020 01:19

I think a quick walk with the dog, if you have no garden, counts as a necessity and I’m sure Boris would agree, he may not have said this but it’s obvious that it would be okay.

Just to let cat owners know that outdoor cats can get CV too & pass it on through their faeces in the litter tray, this is if you have more than one cat so cat owners may want to rethink letting their moggies out, mines is indoor thankfully.

Inappropriatefemale · 24/03/2020 01:21

Pass it on to other cats and not humans I should have said.

CatAndHisKit · 24/03/2020 01:25

Delatron, you can do both but mustt observe 2m+ distance from anyone - the harm is only in close contact and visiting shops too often as there you have to mix (even food shops).

They really MUST enforce distancing in supermarket queues, had enough of some idiots standing right behind me, one was coughigh and when I looked, he said 'it's all right , I don't have it'

WellAintThatAShitbiscuit · 24/03/2020 01:25

I have to go out and walk to work (NHS) leaving my very vulnerable ill partner at home where he is isolating as this virus would likely make him very ill (or worse.)

I am terrified of bringing the virus home from the hospital with me, but what scared me as much is that I'm going to catch it off someone who doesn't even need to be outside in the first place....

CatAndHisKit · 24/03/2020 01:26

*coughing, obvs

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 24/03/2020 01:30

That is a different coronavirus @Inappropriatefemale, not Covid -19. There is no evidence that cats can get Covid -19. This is from the PDSA website.

chrisski33 · 24/03/2020 01:33

Is ok to be in your bck garden say to paint a fence? Or go out into it more than once?

Inappropriatefemale · 24/03/2020 01:36

There are so many conflicting bits of info out there because it’s feline corona virus that they say cats can get and there are many different items about protecting dogs whilst CV is about and there was a pic of a woman and her dog both wearing masks!

Inappropriatefemale · 24/03/2020 01:37

There are so many jobs being advertised right now in supermarkets and I am not working right now so was going to apply, I live alone so I wouldn’t be putting anyone at risk but myself, is this a bad idea to apply? I do need the cash though...
