Quiet in here this morning. We had an Ocado delivery arrive at 7.30 with not too much missing which was good news. Didnt go put yesterday so will go for a quick stroll if nothing else today to get some fresh air.

Huge pile of ironing to attack so that will keep me busy for a couple of hours .

Bunnyflop · 30/03/2020 09:15

Morning everyone

Here’s your daily dose of Henry!

Me and dh watched episodes of Curb your Enthusiasm and The Office last night and I managed to do some yoga while ds ate his dinner. So, not bad.

What is everyone up to today?

Morning all. Currently mildly regretting having a second gin and tonic last night Blush About to lumber into action though and get dressed, do some yoga with DS and then run some laps of the garden for World Autism Awareness Week. 💪

For some positive news - UCL, UCLH and the Mercedes F1 team have reverse engineered a CPAP machine prototype - these are machines to deliver oxygen to patients who need a bit of help but don’t quite need a ventilator.

And for light relief - an Australian astrophysicist got bored, and decided to try and invent a machine to prevent face-touching, with magnets. This did not quite go according to plan Confused

we had a lovely roast chicken dinner this afternoon with beautiful veggies delivered from the local greengrocer that under usual circumstances we wouldn't order from!

I would say to everyone who's benefited from local businesses like this stepping up, when this is all over if you can afford it, please keep using them Smile

I'm back to work today - from my landing!

StCharlotte · 30/03/2020 09:27

Love the magnet story!

Slowdownandsee · 30/03/2020 10:08

Very long time lurker, usually just browse through threads but have signed back up to post on this one, it really is a comfort to read as everything else is so anxiety inducing I’ve had to stop checking fb and news etc on phone, currently distracting myself doing maths book with my youngest, then will have a coffee in the garden, with a coat on! Lovely to have the sun even if it’s a bit chilly out. Hope everyone is doing ok this morning.

ofwarren · 30/03/2020 10:16

Morning.
Another day of feeling better.
I love the bunny photos 😁
Not up to much, still in isolation and resting but it's all good.

Sunshineanddogwalks · 30/03/2020 10:26

Good morning, I haven't posted for a while. I'm glad these threads are still going. They've been a great resource for me, I'm ward-based NHS and have been appointed wellbeing lead for the duration. We have moments of panic, and every cough and deep breath is greeted with alarm but on the whole my team is, not upbeat as such, but there to do the job and help as many of our patients as we can.

And I want to reiterate the point a pp made about local businesses. The small businesses locally have really stepped up and are going above and beyond to maintain the local community and offer support.

Have a good week everyone. Each day is one day closer to this all being over.

Arcadia · 30/03/2020 12:26

Good news on The Mirror today that already showing signs of slowing in UK in terms of admissions. Death figures lag behind as usually people have already been ill fit sometime so won't reflect decrease in transmissions.

M0reGinPlease · 30/03/2020 12:35

That's good @Arcadia

I am I unsure where to look for balanced news reporting. I find the BBC terribly biased these days and I do think they are loving a bit of drama.

DogsAreTheShizz · 30/03/2020 12:40

I went the whole weekend without the news and/or online apart from googling recipes - I feel great for it! DH was still reading the news and I told him just to tell me if there had been any significant updates I should know about, definitely recommend a news free few days

@Bunnyflop that is one fluffy booty!! love it!!

@Spudlet I know the feeling, also regretting yesterdays GnTs, we have introduced cocktail fridays in our hosue and are going to make a new cocktail each Friday but not going to drink any other day to help with anxiety levels.

To give the week a bit of structure we have introduced themed days e.g. Movie Mondays and Wellness Wednesdays

Had Ham shank, apple glaze, hassleback potatoes and asparagus last night if anyone is bored enough to care what a complete stranger is eating lol

Bunnyflop · 30/03/2020 12:53

That dinner sounds lush @DogsAreTheShizz

Arcadia · 30/03/2020 12:56

@M0reGinPlease you have to be a bit careful but if you google positive Coronavirus news then you get some good results. I'm still avoiding mainstream news generally.

DogsAreTheShizz · 30/03/2020 13:00

hahaha @M0reGinPlease I also care so anyone who is thinking of posting dinner details, keep em coming, pics also would be welcome!

@Bunnyflop it was tasty, I'd never tried the potatoes before but they worked out quite well, think I'll double up on the garlic n rosemary butter next time though!

Going to try make one new recipe a week... with all this extra time why not? This week it is chilli beef salad... I'm going to be rolling out of isolation and I'm okay with that!

Callybrid · 30/03/2020 13:04

I love the eating updates!

And the bunny ones Grin

sunshineanddogwalks virtual hugs to you and your team... in awe of you all Flowers

We’ve had a good homeschooling morning - did maths with chalks out on the patio, reading and sounds practice with mini marshmallows for good effort, mopping the floors, topic work, watering the pots in the garden and now all settled down with a bit of CBeebies before lunch...

M0reGinPlease · 30/03/2020 13:09

We're having fish cakes tonight. What should I serve them with?

Siameasy · 30/03/2020 13:11

Morning! Loving those scrumptious bunny hindquarters ❤️❤️❤️
Having a good day. Yesterday was a pyjama-y day but I’ve worked out they make me feel slobby. Off topic but I have long suspected I have ADHD and I thrive on a loose structure.
Further to that I am actually mentally disturbed by wind (!) and today it’s almost completely calm. Aaaaah

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/03/2020 13:12

We are being boring tonight: fried pork sausages with mash and spinach.

DogsAreTheShizz · 30/03/2020 13:18

@M0reGinPlease hmmm.... Maybe some paprika wedges? Or boiled potatoes, crushed a bit with some garlic and crispened in the oven? Peas with some mint thrown in?

@Siameasy I've worked out that, for me, it's not the pyjammas or slobby clothes it's not getting changed that makes me feel rubbish. I'm find if I get up and washed and then into comfies! I also love the lose structure!

Spudlet · 30/03/2020 13:23

@DogsAreTheShizz That sounds lush though 😋

No idea what to cook for dinner tonight, we went totally rogue yesterday and had tortellini, which is the usual Monday night dinner! Considering whether to get some mince out to defrost and make a chilli, or whether to go lazy and do a freezer dinner instead.

Did my first garden run today, just 1k to the great bemusement and amusement of both DS and ddog. Tomorrow I have to do 2k, wondering how long it will take before they get bored! Both of them trailed me like ducklings for a minute this morning but then they just waited at the bottom and ambushed me every time I went past 😂 Then it’s 3k on Wednesday, and after that I can start incorporating my usual loop into each day.

I am wearing my running leggings still because they are so comfy - they are my pants of perspective as they are so cheerful. If anyone wants a nice read in these times I highly recommend The Pants of Perspective by Anna McNuff - adventuring inspiration for when we can get back out there again!

They're salmon so paprika wedges sounds a good shout Dogs

Slowdownandsee · 30/03/2020 13:41

Callybrid well done with the good homeschool morning! We had a good one also but now on a go slow, about to take a walk with kids and dog, hopefully it will re boot us all abit so we can do at least one more constructive activity this afternoon! Have been searching high and low for a trampoline online but all out of stock for the sensibly sized ones! Our garden couldn’t really cope with 14ft and doubt the neighbours would thank me 😁

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 30/03/2020 13:44

Hi, everyone Smile

We had half a slab of roast beef in the freezer, so we thawed that out yesterday and I sliced half of it and braised it with onions and beef gravy - we had it with some home-made Yorkshire puds we found in the freezer at the same time, roasties and some veg. Tonight will be the leftover chili from Saturday with crusty bread.

I've been planning a second wildlife pond with a stream running between the two for ages, and with being at home all the time we're finally getting on with it - it's at the checking the water level hasn't gone down every five minutes stage at the moment! So far, so good...

M0reGinPlease · 30/03/2020 13:47

@Spudlet Pants of Perspective is a great read isn't it.
