We aren't going to lockdown tonight.

Stop scaremongering.

Maybe at the end of the week or next week. I reckon 10 days. But not tonight.

Even still, you can still go to the supermarket, pharmacy and walk the dog.

Stop scaremongering!!!! You're sending people's anxiety through the roof!

Well this thread aged well.

Alsohuman · 23/03/2020 20:50

once a democratic government in the West uses armed forces to control its citizens we're going down a very dark path. Utilising the police forces, yes; using our armies against us, no

Just two words: Northern Ireland.

Xiaoxiong · 23/03/2020 20:50

I can't believe people on this thread are already trying to pick holes in what he said. Just fucking STAY HOME. It doesn't matter that he didn't use the word lockdown. It's a lockdown.

Mlou32 · 23/03/2020 20:50

Yep.It is pretty much a lockdown.

Janus · 23/03/2020 20:50

To be fair OP I thought we’d get some notice to some stuff. Stay safe everyone.

MoonlightMistletoe · 23/03/2020 20:50

😂🤦🏻‍♀️

Goingunderground2 · 23/03/2020 20:50

Ha ha ha scaremongering

ilovecakeandwine · 23/03/2020 20:51

Of course it's a lockdown, it's been said so many times on various threads. Lockdown is different in different countries people still go to work and the supermarket in a lockdown you can exercise once a day that's it . If you are found out the police will stop you and if it's for none of these reasons you will be fined. It's a lockdown!!

ArriettyJones · 23/03/2020 20:51

Can we now please ban the word “scaremongering”?

Frankly, OP you look as stupid as everyone else who has used the word in the past fortnight.

PeterPanGoesWrong · 23/03/2020 20:52

The whole country has just gone into lockdown.

BlokeTarget · 23/03/2020 20:54

LOCKDOWN. Unlucky OP so stop scaremongering by trying to second guess your government.

follow the scientific advice and guidelines- or its simple. WEll end up like Italy with thousands dead because people are inept and cannot accept authority in any form.

You have two choices:

1.Dry your eyes, stay at home. Survive.

  1. Ignore advice- pretend/assume it doesnt apply to you because "insert BS excuse here" and contaminate and allow the virus to spread. NIce work.
Pumpkintopf · 23/03/2020 20:54

Oops.

XingMing · 23/03/2020 20:54

@Sostenueto, if you have treated your family, friends and neighbours nicely, then I am sure you will get brought milk and necessities.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 23/03/2020 20:54

My niece's partner, who isn't very bright, is saying "but he didn't say it was lockdown" . FFS, driving me nuts.

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/03/2020 20:55

I can see this thread aged well...

AuditAngel · 23/03/2020 20:55

Scaremongering? We are on lockdown

oldbeforem · 23/03/2020 20:55

Lol

oldbeforem · 23/03/2020 20:55

Called that wrong

AuldAlliance · 23/03/2020 20:56

For info, here in France, Macron didn't say " ze lockdown" either, but it bloody is one.
Most gvmts try to avoid using the term when announcing it to their citizens because the verb has unfortunate connotations...

Irial · 23/03/2020 20:57

So mystic meg, been busy since the news of the world closed??

Wink
Sostenueto · 23/03/2020 20:57

Alialialiali@

Are you listening? Police powers to break up groups.
Laws now going through Parliament ready on Thursday will give him the power of the army the power to forcibly keep you indoors. The power to arrest you if you break any if the rules. They may even put in barriers in towns so you can't travel out of your town. They will guard the supermarkets. That is all to come at end if week. That is what is going through Parliament wake up ffs! Wake up!

Oophs

So all those who thought that rules did not apply to them can start crying now ..... this is serious

tinytemper66 · 23/03/2020 20:58

@citrus no he can't. I have spoken to him and he says he understands. I can go and help him which is a good thing. I am a key worker so I can see him after I have done my job so he isn't bored. I have said he ca walk to the corner shop and back once a day as he can walk that for just for him to have fresh air. If possible I will take him shopping once a week when we do ours so he isn't tempted to go out willy nilly.
I am not in work tomorrow so will spend the day with him and he will be less tempted to go out. He is not vulnerable health wise so there is no issue with me calling (obviously if either of us are unwell then things will change).
