No more Sainsbury's deliveries

They will now only deliver to you if they have identified you as elderly, vulnerable or disabled. I assume other supermarkets will do the same.

I'm glad they have done this, but at the same time worried that the supermarkets will be busier germ factories than ever!

Almost impossible to self isolate at the moment without outside help due to it being impossible to get delivery slots. We didn’t hoard... slightly suffering for it now!

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 08:46

@Marieo Pregnancy does not put you in the most vulnerable group.

Makinganewthinghappen · 23/03/2020 08:47

Argh I was dreading this. No car - no large shops nearby and the trains are on a reduced timetable and apparently probably reducing even more.

No idea what I’m going to do tbh.

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 08:47

@Olliephaunt4eyes If he is in the most vulnerable group he will get a letter from NHS today or tomorrow. If he qualifies, I think he should be included.

Marieo · 23/03/2020 08:48

I know, that's why it is odd.

RainMinusBow · 23/03/2020 08:49

@Marieo The worry for pregnant women is that because the virus is new so little is known about it.

There have been cases where it may have been the virus has been passed on from mother to baby in the womb.

Medical professionals cannot say with any certainty that our babies will be OK should we become infected because there is no data yet.

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 08:49

Why is it odd? Pregnant women are in the wider vulnerable group, not the most vulnerable group.

Smellbow · 23/03/2020 08:49

My mum is over 70 and hasn't had an email, so no idea how it's working. She gets the flu jab. I helped her set up an account and it never asked her age, but it does have her nectar card on there.

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 08:50

I suspect just being over 70 is not enough.

ineedaholidaynow · 23/03/2020 08:51

Everywhere you see posts saying 'stay at home'. Then online deliveries stop so you have to go shopping, so there will be even more people in the shop and even more panic buying. How come other countries don't have this? Surely the people who have panic bought everything must have a house full now and don't need anything else.

I am the only family for DM, and I am like family for our elderly neighbours as their family live hundreds of miles away. I just feel so responsible for them, and if I can't get food for them (never mind us) I don't know what we will do.

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 08:51

The Government said this was going to happen. I knew there would be meltdowns on here.
In terms of people self isolating for 2 weeks, you are supposed to buy enough food that you can do this without going out.

Marieo · 23/03/2020 08:52

@alloutoffucks eligible for home delivery, fine to work in hospitals. Seems odd.

mrsawhite · 23/03/2020 08:53

I have an Asda one already booked. Wonder if it will get cancelled then

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 08:54

The most vulnerable people will probably die if they get it. This is to protect them.

Oakmaiden · 23/03/2020 08:54

I haven't been able to book an online shop for ages.

EstuaryBird · 23/03/2020 08:54

In the same position Sad. We didn’t hoard and running low now, have an Asda delivery booked for next Monday (fingers crossed).

I have old scar tissue in my lungs but won’t be classed as vulnerable although GP has warned me that CV very dangerous for me. DH is severe asthmatic. What do we do? I’d have to go out and risk bringing it home with me...

RainMinusBow · 23/03/2020 08:55

I don't really get it either. I'm not in the most vulnerable group as I'm pregnant but with no underlying conditions. I'm the "wider vulnerable" group.

So how come I'm being offered a slot but over 70's without any underlying conditions (also "wider vulnerable") don't appear to be?

Having said that, haven't had my email link yet!!

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 08:55

Marieo That is odd. Sounds like they got it wrong then.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 23/03/2020 08:55

Well pregnant women are still working for the NHS. My sister knows several pregnant nurses working on covid wards. How it's allowed I don't know. I think being as we know so little pregnant women should be in the most vulnerable category until we know for sure that there will be no long term problems caused to babies.

starrysimon · 23/03/2020 08:56

Thank god. All the other supermarkets are still available for others. 35 weeks pg, asthmatic with no access to a vehicle. Had to put myself at risk yesterday just to do a weekly shop (with a few extras) and carted £80 worth of shopping home. I’m suffering for it now

OkMaybeNot · 23/03/2020 08:57

How? What little there is left on the shelves, you're only allowed 2 of.

Jenasaurus · 23/03/2020 08:57

what if your not in those groups but live rurally and cant drive so getting food will be impossible.

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 08:57

Sounds like they have not got it right. I am waiting to see if I am in the most vulnerable group, but Sainsburys say I am not eligible for home delivery. It depends on the definition of severe used. If it is hospital admissions in last 2 years I am just outside that window.

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 08:58

@Jenasaurus Surely that is a lifestyle issue?

alloutoffucks · 23/03/2020 08:59

There is not enough online delivery slots for everyone to get one. It sounds like they have not got it right yet. But the aim is a good one.
