FFS just change the time of announcement to 5pm or something.

Most countries are doing multiple data releases a day. We can’t even manage one.

From previous thread, I think this comment is really unfair. This is an unprecedented situation and quite frankly letting the nation know how many people have the disease or have died should not be the priority.

People are mildly ill, people are very ill, people are critically ill, people are dying. Knowing the figures daily, weekly, monthly shouldn't make a difference. Listen to the advice. Stop going to the fucking pub, seeing friends, etc and do what has been asked otherwise many more will die and they very well might be your friends or relatives.

I have a stark question.

In the case of a threshold, are those not admitted for intensive care still nursed and given drugs to make them more comfortable?

Does anyone know the likelihood of anti-psychotic meds being at risk of a shortage? My dm relies on these to keep well enough not to need hospitalisation. I don’t know what we’d do if we can’t access them. She also has a recent Alzheimer’s diagnosis, is in her mid 70s and lives on her own.

I can't believe how many parents are sending their children to school next week. Our school is over the 10% of students anticipated. DC's class has 5 attending so far out of the 30 in the class. I don't know what jobs they all have. I think they will have to clamp down to 2 key working parents for a place as more staff go off sick.

Protecting the doctors: The reality of the equipment supply problem

There are widespread and extensive reports of other kinds of shortages.

Some hospitals have a lack of goggles. Intensive care doctors have resorted to making their own by using elastic bands to strap an overhead projector sheet to their face. Anaesthetists have resorted to buying visors in B&Q.

In general, doctors and nurses across the country are crying out about the lack of equipment they have. When you put out a call to hear how they feel about the working environment they are being asked to work in, a wave of outrage and fear comes back.

And that's the thing. That's why medical staff struggle to have confidence in what they're being told about equipment. That's why doctors' bodies like the BMA simply cannot say that they have confidence that their members are being kept safe. Because all around them there is evidence that they do not have the resources they need. The government response looks reactive, sluggish and opaque.
