Fat face have closed their stores.

My brain still won't compute all this at all. I'm cocooned at home which might be influencing that as I can't see beyond my windows.

It doesn't seem real.

LBC News - 'Two more people have died in Wales after contracting COVID-19.'

DaisyDoo09 · 21/03/2020 16:25

Is there any reason why the numbers are later yesterday and today ?

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 16:28

My friend says the death rate in San Marino is very high, more than 12% and he thinks it gives some support to the theory that the virus might have suffered a mutation in Italy.

ofwarren · 21/03/2020 16:30

@Angryrant55
It just keeps climbing and climbing. When is it going to reach its peak?
Feels so hopeless

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 16:31

'Netherlands has to move 500 to 700 patients out of Brabant to other parts of the country.'

Lifesavesocialdistance · 21/03/2020 16:31

We need various ways to communicate this message

Clear graphics and a chart. Some of sort of clear poster. Illustrating infection spread. And then picture of real person in intensive care.

Propaganda?

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 16:32

Lombardy case peak should be very soon but the death peak might be sometime next week.

Helenj1977 · 21/03/2020 16:33

I'm so happy shopa are closing. My 65 year old mum works in one and I hate that she's still going 😢

ofwarren · 21/03/2020 16:34

What's the most terrifying is that this is coming. We are getting a view into the future.
I can't even get my head round that, even though rationally I know that's what's happening.

CrunchyCarrot · 21/03/2020 16:35

Have we had Italy's death tally for today yet? I have 4032 - was that yesterday's? My head is scrambled. Have been extending my table with Italy vs UK deaths. Similar to the one someone posted above but with the latest days.

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 16:36

the figures from italy come at 5pm - and always comes at same time.

CrunchyCarrot · 21/03/2020 16:37

Thanks Angryrant. Not long to wait.

CrunchyCarrot · 21/03/2020 16:38

My MIL said a little earlier today 'oh it's ok in Shropshire, we've only had 2 cases'. headdesk

VivaLeBeaver · 21/03/2020 16:38

Africa has over 1000 cases now. Obviously that’s a big continent but do the countries involved have the ability to stop the spread?

ofwarren · 21/03/2020 16:40

Surely the world is going to have to stop flights for a while? When the likes of China arent getting any cases but the rest of the world have not even reached their peak, how can you stop transmission from travellers?

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 16:41

Allie Hodgkins-Brown - 'Two more people have died in Wales after contracting coronavirus - brings the total number of deaths there to five.'

“The Chief Medical Officer has confirmed that the patients were a 75 year old who died at Singleton Hospital, and a 98 year old who died at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. Both patients had underlying health conditions.

Singleton is in Swansea and Ysbyty Glan Clwyd near Rhyl.

woodencoffeetable · 21/03/2020 16:41

Africa has over 1000 cases now. Obviously that’s a big continent but do the countries involved have the ability to stop the spread?

unlikely.
plus many countries are major food exporters.

CrunchyCarrot · 21/03/2020 16:42

I think countries like Africa and India to name but two could develop a terrifying number of cases, due to areas where people live so much on top of each other. They're behind us but I don't think they have the facilities if things get bad there. I just hope the developed nations will have enough equipment and expertise left to be able to help them.

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 16:43

I think global flights will mostly cease permently - only a few people will travel. The era of tourism is dead forever.

Angryrant55 · 21/03/2020 16:44

South Africa will fall apart - lots of hiv or aids suffers there often without the vital meds used in the uk.

ofwarren · 21/03/2020 16:45

UPDATE on #COVIDー19 testing in the UK:

Today's figures will be published later today.

We are working hard to provide you with the latest information and will tweet this out as soon as possible.

MarshaBradyo · 21/03/2020 16:46

Yes friend from South Africa said borders clamped early due to that issue - hiv etc
