Just interested to see what is happening in different areas around the UK right now. From high coronavirus areas to low coronavirus areas.

OP posts:

Switzerland. Not going out.

pocketem · 20/03/2020 12:05

I'm a SAHM so we rely on his income and tbh we just about get by as it is. Believe me he would love to not have to go out but it's essential for us to survive that he goes to work as long as he can. Also I have two nail and eyebrow appointments booked

Maybe if you didn't get your brows and nails did, you wouldn't be so reliant on his income?

BeginningBridge · 20/03/2020 12:05

South east. Had operation earlier this month and have only left the house for medical appointments since.

But live with 18 year old and 21 year old and they have been out ( 18 year old finishes school today).

QuimJongUn · 20/03/2020 12:10

@MissyJane2 you are a disgrace. Even if this is a 'joke' post, you're still a disgrace.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 20/03/2020 12:17

Schools finish this afternoon, and we are pretty much going into lockdown after that. Will take dogs out, and exercise avoiding other humans, and will shop when necessary but will stick to social distancing rules.

In SW London. A few cases around but not really hearing of people being treated, so who knows what the true figures are.

Lots of establishments are taking it upon themselves to close their doors for the foreseeable, therefore hopefully people will have nowhere to go.

The high school has been explaining the importance of social distancing to the kids, so I'm hoping there won't be groups of kids everywhere.

I think we will end up with an enforced lockdown, as too many selfish dicks around unfortunately.

Devlesko · 20/03/2020 12:20

North west, none of my family are going out except to work and supermarket. Walk round the park as easy to distance as most still in work round here.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 20/03/2020 12:23

All those saying going to a restaurant isn't essential which technically it's not no

This is why it’s so brutal , as people fall
Into 3 camps

Fucked , such as hospitality and freelance
Might be fucked, most businesses
Not fucked as work in a critical service , ie NHS

The more we don’t follow the rules , the longer it lasts and the more fucked everyone is
Surely a 2-4 month hit is better for everyone than a 8 month hit for all ???

Blobby10 · 20/03/2020 12:30

East Midlands - still working but commute by car. Visit to shops to (try to) buy food for parents as mum recovering from stroke and dad is her carer so they can't get out but are desperate to cook and eat healthy food with plenty of vegetables.

I don't socialise normally so socially distancing myself is easy!!! I will go out for a bike ride over the weekend but won't see another person for the entire 3-4 hours. Only potentially 'social' activity is go to the gym at 5am which is huge, cleaner than its ever been, and only occupied by 4 of us at that hour so plenty of distance between us all.

AlwaysColdHands · 20/03/2020 12:33

North west.
Going outdoors (woods etc) with kids for fresh air and exercise, and necessary visits to shop.
Livid with people carrying on with their social lives

RasberryRoyale · 20/03/2020 12:34

I’m not going out unless to the supermarket.

My husband has to go out to work. His company are refusing to allow work from home. ( He works in an office environment) because they claim it’s impossible. All the staff have laptops and can connect remotely but they won’t budge. Big office building with no social distancing whatsoever. He can’t drive so has to get a bus and a train to work. I’m worried he’s going to catch it.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 20/03/2020 12:38

We will be home but sending kids
To usual CM ( 2 people ) next week as have to work
My circle will be 10 people
But still feel guilty , and if we formally lock down I clearly won’t

I feel guilty even sharing that , and who am I to judge people going to cinema
And Westfield

I won’t be having social events , haircuts etc

But I am so scared about work too

Thisisworsethananticpated · 20/03/2020 12:40

Also , my friend I think had it
Went to an event in France full of multiple nationalities (including some of the ‘red ones he and came home and was sick badly
For a week with the symptoms

This was Jan before italy kicked off , and we all Socialised and shared food

So I think we might have been exposed anyway
Fuck it’s a mind melt

UYScuti · 20/03/2020 12:41

North east staying in

JadziaSnax · 20/03/2020 12:42

NW England. I'm only going food shopping when needed.

LePimpernelScarlette · 20/03/2020 12:45

We are all at home now, only going out to get food (not that there is any fresh food) and to walk the dog, but that does not involve being near other people. The only appointment I have is 31st March when I give blood. I am happy to do that as I have Oneg blood which is really needed - if we are on lockdown then I guess it is up to the donor service what I should do. We live in SW London.

happinessischocolate · 20/03/2020 12:45

Dorset - still working, in company of 250 employees. 1/3 of the staff are at home self isolating, only 2 are actually ill with symptoms. Feel like I'm in a weird parallel world. Kids are home from school, for probably at least 3 months whilst I just carry on going to work.

blackteaplease · 20/03/2020 12:49

South west England. I'm wfh, only going out for school runs and food. DH is a teacher so he could be at school depending on numbers, not sure on that yet.

Treaclepie19 · 20/03/2020 12:51

West Midlands. The 3 of us (Me, DH, 4yo) haven't left the house since Tuesday morning. I'm pregnant and have mild asthma.
We do need to go collect my sons stuff from school, drop some paracetamol outside my moms house (almost 70 and has none in) and take some free from pasta to my friend.
I'm debating whether it's okay to go for a short walk every few days or if we should stick to the garden. I've seen both advised.

LouQoo · 20/03/2020 12:54

North West. Going out for essentials but staying local and avoiding supermarkets.

Nothing sociable planned so no restaurants, cafes, cinema theatre.

The weather looks nice this weekend, so we are going to drive out of the city and go for walks on both days.

Femail · 20/03/2020 12:55

South west still going to work

Karmagoat · 20/03/2020 12:57

In the Southeast, self isolating at moment because DD had to be sent home from school on Tuesday with a high temp (she's fine now but still sticking to the rule) DH and DS both been working from home since Monday and will be for the foreseeable (usually both work in London)
I work in a school but as a midday supervisor so not required to go in once schools are shut, might have to carry on with my second job as school cleaner but not sure what will happen yet.

PsychoWiener · 20/03/2020 13:07

My DP WFH so he's been in since Sunday. I went to the post office on Monday and I had to go get milk and bread today but apart from that, me and my 18mo DS have stayed in.

We had plans for the whole weekend for Mother's Day - cancelled. We had plans for the following weekend for my birthday - cancelled. I desperately want to see my mum, it's so upsetting.

But we will not be going anywhere that is not essential. It's just not worth it. I am climbing the walls staying in like this. STILL NOT WORTH IT.

None of us have any symptoms either.

MissyJane2 · 20/03/2020 18:07

I am watching the news on the TV at the moment it's 6 pm evening and Boris the Prime Minister is telling us that he is just going to ask pubs, cafes and restaurants or to close and only open for take away's
But there is no lockdown and I am pleased about that.
As I don't want to be forced to stay in my home for what could be months if this does not go away.

And unfortunatly it looks like it won't so it could go on for months with the no food in the shops.

As I said I am fed up with it.

I just want them to resolve this crisis and get back to normal so I can start my life again.

potbellyroast · 20/03/2020 18:11

Yorkshire. Work for a local authority and despite being able to do my job 100% from home I’ve been called into the office to work there rather than from home. Beyond furious.

Giganticshark · 20/03/2020 18:14

I'm Cheshire. I can assure you EVERYONE is still going out up here. Old people, young people. Less families than usual though. Queues till midday in supermarkets. I'm going to work (supermarket) then going to my mums and home. No socialising.
