Just interested to see what is happening in different areas around the UK right now. From high coronavirus areas to low coronavirus areas.

OP posts:

East*

Been hand washing lots. People in shops are still working so I figured unless were on lockdown it’s still ok to go out ?

ShanghaiDiva · 19/03/2020 20:07

Going to the supermarket and that is it. I have my 78 year old mum under house arrest.
In south west

Chinks123 · 19/03/2020 20:08

We’re not high risk either @Xdes but I still thought we all had to stay indoors? Dp is leaving for work and that’s it. My mum is healthy and 50 but is not leaving her house either..I’m not sure anymore to be honest.

MrsWx · 19/03/2020 20:09

Also Scotland, and working still so this week hasn't been any different than the rest tbh. The weekend might feel strange as DD's weekend activities aren't on.

Mother40 · 19/03/2020 20:12

From tomorrow when children finish school will only be going shopping for food and walks in quiet areas. We aren't high-risk our selves, but this is meant to apply to everyone unless we want to end up like Italy. I think people going to push etc. are very.foolish and selfish. We are in East midlands.

Elieza · 19/03/2020 20:14

Staying in. Doing my bit to stop the spread. Working from home.
Food shopping once a week.

Missing junk food already. Sad

SuperlativeScrubs · 19/03/2020 20:14

Norfolk Key Worker here. Dropping the kids at school, going to work, going home.

I actually haven't been to the supermarket since before all this started. Today was the first time.

Xdes · 19/03/2020 20:17

@Chinks123
I don’t know I’m confused , I just thought if the shops are still open it’s ok to go if your not high risk and sensible with hand washing etc , I’ve got to admit I was un easy eating out but there was no one else in there and I thought it was the risk or crowds ? I feel guilty now , but am moving next week so had stuff to sort.

tempestterra · 19/03/2020 20:17

Southwest lots of people isolating. A few confirmed cases, but likely to be many, many more unconfirmed.

FthisS · 19/03/2020 20:17

Pembrokeshire we have gone into isolation for 12 weeks, my husband has even moved out.

Duchessofblandings · 19/03/2020 20:18

We don’t know though, which are high and low, because hardly anyone is being tested atm.
Not going out here, North West.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 19/03/2020 20:19

I have to go out to work so I'm still going out. Not going out socialising though. East Midlands.

ClashCityRocker · 19/03/2020 20:19

I'm in York and pass through town for my commute.

It has been quieter during the day, certainly, although I've switched my hours about to travel outside of rush hour. Looking in at pubs and restaurants there's usually just a couple of people in at any one time.

I'm not leaving the house other than work and shopping.

However, I suspect this weekend might actually end up busier as the lockdown rumours mean people want 'one last hurrah' - although that is pure speculation on my part.

Goawayquickly · 19/03/2020 20:21

Those who are saying they’re not high risk, you realise that means you probably won’t get severely ill right? It doesn’t mean you won’t get the virus and pass it on to someone who would get really ill or worse.
Anyone can get this virus.

Sunshine1239 · 19/03/2020 20:22

Lancashire

Not going out

All self isolating as I’ve been il but on recovery other than walking dog on remote farm field near house we won’t be going anwherr

We are basically on lockdown

Chinks123 · 19/03/2020 20:23

@Xdes I think we’re supposed to be all doing social distancing (impossible if you have to go and work) so not interacting unless essential. So no soft play/ cafe/pub/ etc etc. So we have stayed inside.

I was supposed to go to the hairdressers this morning, and they are still open but dp said it wasn’t essential (Angry) that I have my roots done so I haven’t gone.

It’s not enforced though and from what I can see a lot of people are still eating out. My local cafe was advertising its kids menu today

Harveywoo · 19/03/2020 20:23

Southern England. Working from home, doing only essentials outside the house (dentist, food shop, getting cash and fuel today). Have cancelled all gym visits, outings, kids clubs, work meetings and site visits (unless using Skype). Our kids finish school tomorrow, at which point we’ll only be going out for walks (in the woods, we’re lucky we can access the countryside easily) and dropping off supplies to the aged mother. I wish those not treating this situation seriously and sticking to their usual habits would stop, so risky for everyone!

MNnicknameforCVthreads · 19/03/2020 20:24

Southwest

Still going out for school run, shopping, doctors appointment, had friends round. So yeah, not really been following guidance I’m ashamed to say, as stuff was in the diary and didn’t want to cancel. Also getting prepped/making the most of a bit of freedom before schools close...dreading it Sad

Gillian1980 · 19/03/2020 20:24

Have been doing school run and popping to local coop for supplies. Otherwise staying in and not socialising. DH working from home and not socialising.

DD finishes school tomorrow and we’ll be at home the majority of the time but will go up to the moors a bit for walks and air.

We’re in Devon.

Chinks123 · 19/03/2020 20:25

The Angry was a joke by the way, I’m very aware my hair isn’t essential. Plus if I’m not going out it doesn’t really matter about the roots. Hairdressers were abit snippy when I cancelled though, as they said they were up to very high hygiene standards but I just couldn’t risk it.

Potplant · 19/03/2020 20:27

I had to go into office today but I'm working from home from tomorrow. I'd bought some new clothes last week, but I think i need the money more, so I went to the shops to take them back.
Supermarkets are heaving here every time I've been in.

I'm not anticipating doing anything other than going to the supermarket, and running. I've no plans to socialise (to be fair that's not that unusual).

I've got two teens who finish school tomorrow, I honestly don't know what suggest to them.

You work in an HOSPITAL and you’re still meeting up with friends? God help the already vulnerable patients you are coming into contact with every day.
Do your employers know you’re deliberately flouting the Chief Medical Officer’s advice?

happytoday73 · 19/03/2020 20:32

North West... Went to get my child's gift (April birthday) this evening before specialist shop shuts, got a couple of gifts for other children birthdays, cards and Easter eggs. This takes me to June organisation wise. It was quiet... Number of shops shut..

Oh hand cream and toothpaste when picking up my usual medication.

Gifts, cards, e eggs will drop off at houses without going in tomorrow or at final school pick up.

Organised a few fresh deliveries so hope is we can now stay in for quite some time. Even got paint earlier in week to keep us busy.

No meet ups. Not even mothers on Sunday. Working from home from Monday.

RoryGillmoresEvilTwin · 19/03/2020 20:34

We will end up in an official lockdown. The fact that people think a pedicure and going for a burger are essential trips says it all.
