UK death toll rises to 133
A further 29 people have died in England from Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in England to 128, NHS England said. It takes the UK total to 133 from 105 on Wednesday. Northern Ireland reported its first death today and there three more casualties in Scotland.

The 29 patients were were aged between 47 and 96 years old and had underlying health conditions, NHS England said.

Christopher Hope - 'NEW - 'Wartime' anti-coronavirus powers could be in force for two and a half years. The powers need to be in force by March 31 and are designed to end after two years. However ministers can shorten - or lengthen - this period by six months. So they could apply until Sept 30 2022.'

The huge jumps in numbers in Spain and Germany today feel really concerning.

I'm amazed by how low the German death rate is still. What are they doing that everyone else isn't?
