London lockdown by Saturday?

I live in a top 5 CV London borough. went to the supermarket today.

I was the twilight zone. My children and I was in full protective gear complete with anti bac wipes to wipe down my shopping. But no one else was. I saw 3 people with rubber gloves but that's it.

I was openly ridiculed, laughed at, treble and quadruple looks, recorded. Hello we are in the grip of a pandemic!! Now I can understand how Noah felt when he was building the ark: except we all know what's coming, heck it's already here.

Methinks the severity of the situation is not getting through to people.

Now the schools are to be officially closed from Friday, considering London is a CV hotspot, I'd wager a London lockdown by Sunday night.

What do you think the likelihood of that is?

Yes, heard from a very reliable source that there will be a lock down by the weekend!
Everyone but key workers will need to stay at home!
The army will be there to ensure that this is adhered to and help with the influx of patients and setting up isolation hospitals in hotels etc...

winterbear990 · 18/03/2020 20:17

I've seen alot of talk about the army stepping in to help, what is it likely that they would be doing?

winterbear990 · 18/03/2020 20:24

Crossed posts with you wowser, that makes alot of sense

adiposegirl2 · 18/03/2020 20:25

The reason why you CANT get Dettol anti bac spray and wipes for nothing.

Or will I now be accused of photoshop?

I think we all know the type of outfit I must of been wearing.
A man actually told me CV can only be caught by touching it is not AirborneShock Yes- sneezing and coughs come under airborne particles. How can one still be so ignorant?

OP, just wanted to say that I don't think you're being OTT at all. DH is an animal health officer, and has had plenty of infectious disease training. When he's popped to the shops for things, he does a full 'farm gate Foot and Mouth' routine, washing shopping before putting it inside, then he strips off and goes straight in the shower before coming into the main part of the house. He's even wearing Crocs out so he can wash them on his return (he actually asked me to wear Crocs to teach my 6th form class last week!!! I refused). And we're rural.
You crack on.

SugarSugarShimmy · 18/03/2020 20:41

They explained this on the news @adiposegirl2 this relates to the normal CoronaVirus cold virus not COVID-19. These packs would have been made long before anyone even knew about it.

zonkin · 18/03/2020 20:46

I think Tuesday or Wednesday next week for London lock down.

TiddyTid · 18/03/2020 20:49

Too late. The second home owners from London are already infiltrating coastal areas with less infrastructure, emptying shelves and spreading the crap just like Italy. Thanks. Should've locked those fuckers down last week.

hopeishere · 18/03/2020 20:49

I think we all know the type of outfit I must of been wearing

No - that's why I asked.

Were you in full PPE? Gown, gloves, apron, mask, visor, cap?

Slurpy · 18/03/2020 20:58

TiddyTid - that's so shit. We live in a holiday cottage part of the country and a friend with a property was considering cancelling all her bookings. Hope she does.

Crunchymum · 18/03/2020 21:18

@Growingboys

Yes there are some wipes that kill Coronavirus but it's not the Covid:19 strain.

adiposegirl2 · 18/03/2020 22:18

hopeishere

No cap or visor

Oh...

Thanks for that

I hope the lockdown is announced at 11pm at night with immediate effect and the police and army already in place at train stations and all roads out of the M25

My money was on Thursday as in tomorrow but now I’m thinking later.

Wannabangbang · 18/03/2020 22:34

They've left it too late rich beastards already infultrating everywhere. They need to lock everywhere down today its already out of hand

TeaMilkNoSugarThanks · 18/03/2020 22:38

Does that Dettol label REALLY say 'kill's' instead of 'kills'?!

PegLegAntoine · 18/03/2020 22:39

I don’t understand how a London lockdown would work as opposed to the whole country.

I live near Gatwick, so not actually London, but surely we should be too?

I would welcome it at this stage.

BadCatDirtyCat · 18/03/2020 22:40

@adiposegirl2 hazmat suit?

MadameJosephine · 18/03/2020 22:41

Did you seriously go and do your shopping in a gown, gloves, apron and mask?

I’ve been working on the front line in the NHS wearing less

CeibaTree · 18/03/2020 22:46

How far from the city do you think the lockdown would go to - zones 1- 4 or all London boroughs?

TiddyTid · 18/03/2020 23:03

It'll be country wide if people don't start bloody listening.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 18/03/2020 23:08

My children and I was in full protective gear complete with anti bac wipes to wipe down my shopping

Say what? Full protective gear? What did that entail?! Were you in full bio protective suit and helmets?! Confused
Can just picture the funny looks you were getting if so lol.
I get people are scared but your full protective gear and wiping down you shopping sounds waaaay OTT.
Are you OK?
Thought this was going to be a sensible OP post about discussing possible London lockdown going by the title.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 18/03/2020 23:11

I think we all know the type of outfit I must of been wearing

Nope, really don't.
Was a genuine question, what were you wearing and why are you being vague about it?
This thread's weird.
