Ocado orders - edit closing a day early?
copperheart · 18/03/2020 07:27
Anyone else have their order for tomorrow close for editing a day early? It's a right bugger - I hadn't done my weekly shop, just the minimum to hold the slot!
AuntieStella · 18/03/2020 08:52
Waitrose have emailed to say they will be having an earlier cut off. So it seems likely this will be a general move across suppliers to reduce some uncertainty
I don't remember seeing anything from Ocado. And it would be shoddy if they did it without notification
Standrewsschool · 18/03/2020 08:56
I’ve done the opposite. I added extra stuff and intended to cull it today. Too late to change the order.
DerbyshireGirly · 18/03/2020 09:03
Worth bearing in mind. I always check out just a bottle of Moet to "place hold" my slot and then go back and edit my order (unfortunately the bottle is removed at this point). Wouldn't want that turning up in place of my week's worth of food! I did set up a 'Reserved' slot yesterday for my usual Saturday morning and while I did have to change to a different slot next week, it looks good to go after that. Definitely worth doing as the wait for a slot is just getting longer and longer.
PickleSarnie · 18/03/2020 09:07
I always check out with a bottle of gin and cat food. Once I completely forgot to go edit my basket and the delivery man turned up with a bottle of gin and a load of cat food - was v embarrassed.
Ocado has been closing editing a good few hours earlier for a few weeks now - used to be 9:20pm cut off for next morning delivery but it changed to 5:15pm. Wouldn’t surprise me if they moved it even further.
copperheart · 18/03/2020 09:10
I don't remember seeing anything from Ocado. And it would be shoddy if they did it without notification I have confirmation from them that I can modify my order till 10:35 tonight - so if they've changed the policy then they have forgotten to tell their customers! Worse still - they are not answering their phones, they are not operating live chat, the only method of communication is email and they are not promising to get back to me for at least 36hrs, which is a bit late! My shopping is a mix of stuff they have shoved in there and bits and pieces - no proper food! It's so bloody frustrating.
I even got up at 5.00am to complete my order - bastards!
copperheart · 18/03/2020 09:11
I did the bottle of Moet thing for until one week I completely forgot - it was so embarrassing! Now I just get it populated with my favourite items - less embarrassing if I screw up.
MinkyWinky · 18/03/2020 09:15
Good to know it's not just me. I was planning to add a couple of extra items and found it was locked. I was surprised to say the least! (Luckily it's got most of the stuff we need for our normal shop!)
irregularegular · 18/03/2020 09:15
Yes I couldn't edit mine this morning for tomorrow evening. It is odd they didn't say as there has been quite a lot of communication generally. Fortunately I have Ocado reserved and it fills it with my "instant shop" which obviously isn't quite what I wanted but isn't bad. Will remember to do it early next week!
irregularegular · 18/03/2020 09:17
Ocado has been closing editing a good few hours earlier for a few weeks now - used to be 9:20pm cut off for next morning delivery but it changed to 5:15pm.
Evening delivery cut-off had stayed at 11pm until now I think.
copperheart · 18/03/2020 09:19
Evening delivery cut-off had stayed at 11pm until now I think. Yes that's right - I'm always last minute on this - but this morning I decided to be super organised...
copperheart · 18/03/2020 09:38
Just received this text from them Hi, tomorrow's order is due between 8am-9am. You can edit your order until 10:25pm today.
WhenDoISleep · 18/03/2020 09:43
Yes - have an order due tomorrow and can normally edit until early evening today. Logged in last night to find I can't make any further changes. Fortunately I had been organised and edited it early yesterday - however the website and email confirmation still had the usual editing deadline. Totally understand Ocado making changes like this - but they should at least remember to tell their customers.
Standrewsschool · 18/03/2020 12:44
My delivery isn’t due to midday tomorrow, but I couldn’t edit it any further.
Mumdiva99 · 18/03/2020 12:47
I have had a text message apologising for the early cut off and saying I can return anything I don't want - I had over ordered as we were meant to host a party - but obviously it's been cancelled. No longer need the champagne....or 20 jacket potatoes....
Aurorie11 · 18/03/2020 12:48
had a text to say we're very sorry but due to high demand you can no longer edit tomorrow's order. On this occasion, we will take back any products you don't want at the doorstep
scoobyd2 · 18/03/2020 12:51
If you are normally permanently logged into your Ocado account, check (when you eventually get onto the site) you're still logged in. I think they've implemented changes in the last couple of days that logged people out, as I couldn't find an edit option yesterday (my order not due til Friday) and eventually realised I wasn't logged in.
DameXanaduBramble · 18/03/2020 12:53
Yes, i tried at 1am to amend but it was already in dispatch mode. Just had the text saying cut off had already happened.
coronamoana · 18/03/2020 12:57
aren't they trying to reduce people booking slots & also harder for them to pick the stock when under pressure
Housewife2010 · 18/03/2020 13:01
You don't need to save your slot with things you won't buy. I save my slot with the recommended order and then update closer to the cut-off.
viccat · 18/03/2020 13:18
I imagine they're doing it to help with stock control - it's easier for them to make sure everything is available when they know a bit in advance rather than people changing orders last minute.
I'm not finding their communication particularly helpful at the moment in general though. Yesterday I only knew my order was arriving but delayed because the driver texted me. No email/text from Ocado itself.
WhenDoISleep · 18/03/2020 13:44
Housewife2010 but the point is that the cut off time was changed without notice to be over 24hrs earlier than normal for some of us.
PickleSarnie · 18/03/2020 13:52
I have an order for Friday morning. Just had text from ocado saying I can no longer edit it further.

peachypetite · 18/03/2020 14:36
It’s a two hour wait to get back in so I’ve given up trying to edit.
minipie · 18/03/2020 14:37
Yes this happened to me today. Order due tomorrow. Usual email to say I can edit till this eve. Then a message mid morning to say no edits possible.
No warning given of the change in editing deadline.
