Hello. Are you in the Ocado virtual queue? What position are you?
Would you like some company?

Ocado reserved slots come available on themselves. A day or two after delivery.

FreakStar · 25/03/2020 08:19

I think they have closed booking for all slots that are more than 2 weeks away- that way no-one can go on and block-book a slot for very every week in the future. Because of this Ocado Reserved slots which are more than 2 weeks away are showing as unavailable- but as they get closer and Ocado open up booking for that day they should be booked automatically for you.

YoursTunbridgeWells · 25/03/2020 08:29

My latest theories (porbably absolute rubbish)

I have a resreved slot every Friday. This Friday - got in an amended fine after the huge queue.

They might allow existing orders ahead as they are - they are not telling you to remoove stuff when your basket already has too much of something in (I removed something tried to re-add and was told I max quantity exceeded.)

I think they are allowing already prebooked slots to continue - if you already have 2 orders booked in one week - they haven't cancelled mine or asked me to choose. BUT i think if you have new order - you can't book one less than a week after the last one.

I think they still haven't opened up orders beyond 5th/6th April. Normally you can book 3 weeks in advance.

Reserved - took my smart pass money yesterday, My order for 10th says I have to rebook but I don't know if that's down to no slots being opened for the 10th yet or them having all been booked.Reserved slots are not automatically booking anymore. OCado confirmed that to me.

Item limits - some seem to have limits and others don't. I had a play around. I could only have 2 of quiche, ham and pate. I think there might be 5 item limit on frozen goods excluding icecream. I think there may be a limit on meats. There is a limit on milk (? what), there is a limit onf 2 I think on eggs, and 2 bakery items like bread or rolls. There are limits on baked beans, tinned tomatoes etc, loo roll, soap, tissues, kitchen roll and cleaning products.

Melfish · 25/03/2020 08:36

I think they could have planned it better. It's all centralised in a couple of warehouses as opposed to the other shops (except Morrisons) who pick from local supermarkets. They actively encourage you to buy the smart pass and set up a regular delivery slot. Normally it runs well but the extra number of new customers, plus long term ones like me who only order every month but switched to weekly/fortnightly have sent it into meltdown.
I think what they can sort out is the communication, which is awful. Many on the twitter feed point out that they pay for the smart pass to waive delivery fees (I think you need one for the reserved slot but as I don't use that I'm not sure), will they get a refund? The tweet people skirt around the issue, but essentially say no.

Lordfrontpaw · 25/03/2020 08:43

Waitrose isn’t taking any new orders. Morrison’s site is kaput, Tesco has no slots showing.

mumof4males · 25/03/2020 08:48

I couldn't get on all day yesterday
I have a delivery once a week from Ocado and once a week from waitrose
Always have online shopped, I'm very concerned how they have both organized it,
Waitrose website hasn't allowed me to book a slot for days and days.

SurpriseSparDay · 25/03/2020 08:49

But ... A SmartPass pays for delivery, it doesn’t guarantee delivery, whenever you want it, under any possible or impossible circumstances.

Seriously - we’re all struggling to come to terms with a previously unimaginable situation, but I really can’t see the point in being affronted. It’s only been a couple of weeks or so.

Not a single person on this thread is stuck in an overcrowded refugee camp. A little perspective might be useful ...

FreakStar · 25/03/2020 08:57

A smartpass actually makes delivery cheaper for you- it's not so you can have priority over anyone else- if there are no slots you can't have them!

RoseyOldCrow · 25/03/2020 09:00

I haven't rtft so forgive me if I'm duplicating other posts.

For those of you complaining about how supermarkets (on line or otherwise) could have "planned" this better - WTAF?! Are you serious?

This is an unprecedented situation in the FMCG world, as well as everywhere else.
It is akin to having to supply Christmas volumes, with zero notice - all the way through the supply chain & with reduced staff.

Retailers, particularly Ocado & others who deliver, are having to review all their operating systems to actually supply consumers with what they "need", plus recruit & train more staff throughout their business.

So stop being so unappreciative & demanding and give them a chance to do their job!

Ontheboardwalk · 25/03/2020 09:10

FreakStar not that I have to justify my shopping habit to you but these slots have been booked for many weeks. I have a regular weekly shop on a Saturday with Ocado and a top up shop every couple of weeks mid week for cat litter, cat food and household goods. These deliveries have been edited for my elderly relatives that can’t get out

We will all be limited to one shop going forward, regardless of our households and who we are buying for

awayfromhome · 25/03/2020 09:16

@RoseyOldCrow. I don’t think it’s about being unappreciative or demanding.. I’m not expecting things to run as they were before. I know as everyone else does this is an extremely difficult time for all..

However, I do think their communication has been woeful, and this is something they can/should absolutely address and change.. the lack of communication only serves to ensure that people panic and add more to their shopping baskets as they don’t know when or indeed if another delivery slot will appear.. perpetuating stock issues. I for one don’t want to do just a normal weekly shop now (which I was before they closed the site for a few days) as I have no idea if that’s going to be my last weekly online shop, and being in the group supposed to be shielding for 12 weeks, that’s an issue.

Justajot · 25/03/2020 09:19

Does anyone know the limit on milk please?

Pinkfizzy · 25/03/2020 09:33

@justajot

2 cartons, of whatever size.
Plant milks, counted separately, also limit of 2

The range has been drastically reduced & simplified. Understandably & in common with other supermarkets, I imagine.

twosoups1972 · 25/03/2020 10:15

@RoseyOldCrow completely agree. I am very grateful to all supermarket workers/online food suppliers.

wondering7777 · 25/03/2020 13:51

The latest from Ocado:

If you have a delivery booked for Thursday 26th March please log in here to edit your order.

If you have a delivery booked for any other date, wait in the queue to go through and edit your order.

If you do not have a delivery booked, we have very limited availability over the next few days. This is constantly under review and we are releasing slots as soon as they become available.

At least they're allowing people with existing orders to log straight in now - that seems like a sensible move.

I don't have a delivery slot booked though and am wondering if I'll ever get one again! I'm heavily pregnant and am not particularly keen on DH going to the supermarket in case he picks up any germs Sad

ChequerBoard · 25/03/2020 13:57

I logged on at 3am this morning (couldn't sleep so thought I would give the website a try) and edited my pre-booked orders for this Friday and next Friday with no problem at all.

wondering7777 · 25/03/2020 14:09

At least they're allowing people with existing orders to log straight in now - that seems like a sensible move.

I take it back - I just clicked on the login link out of interest to see if it was working, and it's not!

usernotfound0000 · 25/03/2020 14:17

Does anyone know how far ahead you can book? I'm in the queue now but wanting a slot around 14/15th April (have a Morrisons order next week (hopefully) that will see us through until then. I won't bother waiting if the slots aren't that far ahead.
I joined the Morrisons queue, luckily a lot shorter, and they said they had slots for 15th April but nothing was available.

wondering7777 · 25/03/2020 14:19

Does anyone know how far ahead you can book?

I logged on in the early hours of this morning to see if I could get a slot - you could only look three days ahead and nothing was available. I'm south-east.

usernotfound0000 · 25/03/2020 14:20

ah ok, thanks, I'll leave the queue then!

tryingtoprep · 25/03/2020 14:27

I'm sorry if I've missed this. It's a long thread. I've had the email about one order a week limit. Is that per account or per address? I need to order for my elderly relatives who don't understand online shopping. I can't drop things off as I don't live anywhere near them.

Standrewsschool · 25/03/2020 14:49

I was also on ocado during the small hours. Edited my order okay, but no new slots available (south east).

WhatTheHellHappenedArgh · 25/03/2020 14:52

If you already have an order booked can you book another one in for the future, does anyone know?

bookgirl1982 · 25/03/2020 14:54

You can usually book up to three weeks ahead (with a smart pass anyway), but they may have changed this.

You can book more than one slot but not more than one per week.

tryingtoprep · 25/03/2020 14:59

I'll get for my relatives first in that case. If I can find a slot. DP and I can manage a bit longer. I wonder if they're prioritising smart pass holders? I cancelled mine a few months ago. Still spending a lot with them but I was looking at leaving when they stopped the Waitrose stuff.
