Hello. Are you in the Ocado virtual queue? What position are you?
Would you like some company?

I don't know how it knows...

I know there is no point. I just can't get over the craziness of this forcing people out of their houses...

What do you want them to do?
They don’t have any stock left or any more capacity to deliver.

YoursTunbridgeWells · 22/03/2020 13:11

But what has happened to future slots. Who can book in the future?

FlamingoAndJohn · 22/03/2020 13:25

No one. There are no future slots right now.

Not true.

It was true at the time I wrote it because that is what it said on the website Hmm I'm not making this stuff up FFS

FlamingoAndJohn · 22/03/2020 13:50

There was a point where if you had a delivery in the subsequent two days you could access your order via a link.
That doesn’t mean that by some kind of magic the website knows that you have an order due in the next two days and shows you in through a back door.

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2020 13:54

Don't know what I want them to do but I do know if Ocado sorted this out (as, to be fair they said they would) it would stop people form leaving their houses.

That's kind of important right now.

It's not just them : it is all online supermarkets creaking under the strain obviously. But I think they should have been able to sort the website issue so at least you could get on it.

viccat · 22/03/2020 13:55

I just don't understand how they didn't prepare for this at all after the news from other countries. They could have put purchase limits in place much earlier. Yes these are unprecedented times but still, the retail sector has very high tech systems in place already to manage stock and fluctuations in demand in general.

On 5th March I got an email from them advertising the Ocado Reserved scheme, encouraging me to join so I could always have the slot I want every week and promising a money off coupon if I signed up by the end of the month. Now they are saying they are not going to honour the reserved slots in the coming weeks, as they don't take priority over new bookings. Hmm

YoursTunbridgeWells · 22/03/2020 13:58

So there are no future slots for anyone.... They must open them at some point

FlamingoAndJohn · 22/03/2020 14:02

But they can’t. They can’t magic up more stock or more vans.
What about all the other supermarkets that deliver?

OP posts:

Have they said that?

OP posts:
viccat · 22/03/2020 14:07

Flamingo Yes, they said that in response to someone on Twitter. There are also people in their Facebook comments who would have had a reserved slot automatically generated early April but when they get on the website, it's saying it isn't available and to re-book (but there are no other slots to book either!).

They really need to send all their customers an email about all this and communicate clearly!

I'll be ok for at least two weeks with what I have at home if I get anything in tomorrow's delivery, but many others won't be as fortunate. Sad

Reastie · 22/03/2020 14:29

So if we can’t do new bookings, they aren’t honouring all existing bookings and they aren’t keeping regular weekly prebooked slots what are they doing?!

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2020 14:36

OP are you aware there are no deliveries from any supermarket chains atm? This isn't about me being precious specifically wanting Ocado. This is about the systemic failure of the online shopping services. This in turn contributes to panicking people going out to actual supermarkets, mingling with crowds and stockpiling.

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2020 14:45

I think they’ve overloaded completely. Not sure why the reboot has made it so much worse.

FlamingoAndJohn · 22/03/2020 14:45

I’m fully aware of there being no online deliveries.
I still don’t understand how you expect them to ‘sort it out’.

THIS.

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2020 14:54

Dunno OP because I don't head up the huge industry that is retail distribution. But I do think they have resorted to blaming the public because it is easier.

AnaphylacticAnnabelle · 22/03/2020 15:25

The Ocado communications have totally dropped off. Nothing about when to edit an order or what has been cancelled.

Clearly things aren't great for them.

viccat · 22/03/2020 15:47

Finding their latest social media post about stockpiling very annoying, basically blaming all of their customers when they could have taken action two weeks ago to control this...

TheGreatWave · 22/03/2020 17:12

The Ocado communications have totally dropped off. Nothing about when to edit an order or what has been cancelled.

Yes this, thankfully I went on yesterday to edit tomorrow's order that I can usually amend to 11pm today. Then they closed the editing feature saying they are sold out. Tuesday's said that midday today. There has been no notification of this, at all.

At least Sainsbury's have sent an email (even if I can't ever get a slot)

AnaphylacticAnnabelle · 22/03/2020 17:37

I take that back. I've just logged in and they've apparently sorted a number of issues re current orders, for me at least. Still no future slots though.

AnaphylacticAnnabelle · 22/03/2020 17:37

Actually I stand by the no comms issue!

viccat · 22/03/2020 17:42

I can't even edit the order I have for 30th March now, it just says "placed". Confused Everything in that order is okay but may not be what I want in two weeks time...

YoursTunbridgeWells · 22/03/2020 17:52

i can't edit my order for 27th even though it's in the window
