Lockdown conditions in France

CroissantsAtDawn · 17/03/2020 06:01

Ive seen lots of threads with people worrying about lockdown.and how they would cope/ it would be enforced.

Last night, following the President's announcement I received a text message from the government confirming the lockdown for 15 days and linking to a site with details.

From 12 today we are only allowed out to go to work if work from home isnt possible, buy groceries, see a doctor, help elderly/vulnerable family in need (with reminder about barrier actions), to let a dog do its business or for individual physical activity close to home.

Each time you need a paper dated and signed explaining why you are out. Infringements are fined 38-135 euros. The paper can be downloaded and printed, shown on your phone or just hand written.

100 000 police and army personnel are being deployed to enforce the conditions.

No mention of how children can exercise. Just that parks etc are closed and there should be no family or friends gathering.

We are going to test going out early for run with 1 DC each and hope that is allowed in "individual activity". If its not I ll stand on the doorstep and watch them run up and down the road (2 highly active boys living in a flat....)

Yeah I'm not sure how that would work.

CroissantsAtDawn · 21/04/2020 16:47

Thanks for the link. DS1 (CE2) has 29 in his class which would be ok. DS2 (GS) has 32...eek! Although I'm not sure if there's ever a day when they're all there!

I'm going to be made to teletravail for months so I could juggle half days - its just my sanity that will take a hit!

OP posts:
CroissantsAtDawn · 21/04/2020 16:51

Looks like GS will go back the week 11th May but CE2 not until 25th May. Argh!!!! (Guess which of my boys is happiest to potter around by himself not disturbing me lol).

I suppose GS need to prepare for CP. CP is a key year and CM2 needs to prepare for 6eme...

BFM:

But, but..how? Our entire maternelle is in the same room with the same teacher.

LaChatte · 21/04/2020 17:19

Alternating days I would have though.

LaChatte · 21/04/2020 17:19

Or perhaps they're banking on fewer than half the kids actually coming back.

KatharinaRosalie · 21/04/2020 17:57

I think I saw a comment somewhere that the school, when it starts again, will be mandatory?

CroissantsAtDawn · 21/04/2020 18:50

They said that if you dont want your DC to go to school then you are committed to following the program at home

OP posts:
CroissantsAtDawn · 21/04/2020 18:54

Le monde:
Si une famille ne veut pas envoyer son enfant à l’école, ce sera possible, mais dans ce cas il aura l’obligation de suivre l’enseignement à distance:«Un élève ne sera jamais en dehors de l’obligation scolaire.»

Given that one of the main justifications for putting the schools back is to ensure that “disappeared” children don’t fall further behind, I can’t see them making it optional. Probably not long before a medical certificate or something is obligatoire if a child isn’t in school or being followed up at home.

CroissantsAtDawn · 22/04/2020 07:20

random question - what brand of chicken and/or beef stock do you buy? I'm a bit embarrassed that I still stock up on oxo every time I'm in the UK (and have been for 16 years...oops) but am nearing the end of my boxes and no trip to the UK in sight...

inmylifeIlovedthemall · 22/04/2020 07:34

Knorr Stick Pots. Much better than Oxo

inmylifeIlovedthemall · 22/04/2020 07:35

Stock not Stick

FingonTheValiant · 22/04/2020 08:02

Yep, I also use the knorr pots. And if desperate, knorr cubes.

CroissantsAtDawn · 22/04/2020 08:56

Thanks I'll look for them. I think I've used maggi in the past but found them really salty.

Fortunately Paris has M&S for all my marmite and cheddar needs Grin

OP posts:
MadameF · 22/04/2020 21:35

Even my local Super U in rural Brittany has Cheddar and Marmite

CroissantsAtDawn · 23/04/2020 06:23

1 local supermarket has marmite here but its horrendously expensive (and nearly out of date).

Nowhere has cheddar but they're all very small supermarkets.

Went to Marks yesterday and loads of shelves were empty although I managed to get what I wanted. I then went into monoprox which had a wall of flour in the entrance! There were at least 200 packets, and 3 different types of flour.

OP posts:
MadameF · 23/04/2020 06:31

Yes, the Marmite is expensive here too.
We have some flour now, but no levure at all, I'm down to my last sachet Sad

Frenchfancy · 23/04/2020 06:35

I got flour and yeast (fresh) this week.

Dds concours has been confirmed for the 1st week in July. The orals have been cancelled which is not good news as that is where she gets her best marks.

missclimpson · 23/04/2020 06:51

We can't get marmite in our bit of Normandy anymore. I have two open pots that are probably years out of date but it seems fine. I am rationing it because if I do get ill, marmite and toast is my food of choice.
We are feeling pleased with ourselves because we have completed and pressed the send button on the tax form without the annual tax argument. I like the new summary page at the end.
Sending sympathy to those of you sorting out complex school arrangements. Must also be a nightmare for my ex LA colleagues.

CroissantsAtDawn · 23/04/2020 07:20

I nearly ran out of sainsbury's baking powder Grin but managed to get some sachets of levure. Then when I went to Marks I found baking powder and bicarb of soda so my cakes are safe! Shame I cant post you the levure @MadameF but all our postboxes are taped up...

This is a 7 minute video from inside the Covid 19 intensive care at the Luxembourg Central Hospital.
It is in FRENCH and Luxembourgish with ENGLISH sub titles.

"Given that one of the main justifications for putting the schools back is to ensure that “disappeared” children don’t fall further behind, I can’t see them making it optional."

How are there going to be a maximum of 15 children per class, in that case?
