Lockdown conditions in France

CroissantsAtDawn · 17/03/2020 06:01

Ive seen lots of threads with people worrying about lockdown.and how they would cope/ it would be enforced.

Last night, following the President's announcement I received a text message from the government confirming the lockdown for 15 days and linking to a site with details.

From 12 today we are only allowed out to go to work if work from home isnt possible, buy groceries, see a doctor, help elderly/vulnerable family in need (with reminder about barrier actions), to let a dog do its business or for individual physical activity close to home.

Each time you need a paper dated and signed explaining why you are out. Infringements are fined 38-135 euros. The paper can be downloaded and printed, shown on your phone or just hand written.

100 000 police and army personnel are being deployed to enforce the conditions.

No mention of how children can exercise. Just that parks etc are closed and there should be no family or friends gathering.

We are going to test going out early for run with 1 DC each and hope that is allowed in "individual activity". If its not I ll stand on the doorstep and watch them run up and down the road (2 highly active boys living in a flat....)

I think Macron is speaking tomorrow night 20H, not Monday

KatharinaRosalie · 08/04/2020 22:08

Le Monde says Monday, I understand instead of tomorrow

Roseau18 · 08/04/2020 22:17

Le Monde didn't explicitely say that Monday had replaced tomorrow (and neither did my local paper). However, after a bit more hunting I found this:
"Emmanuel Macron prendra la parole lundi 13 avril à 20 heures, et non pas jeudi 9 avril contrairement à ce franceinfo avait annoncé dans un premier temps,"
So looks like we will have to wait until Monday to find out. I find it a bit frustrating that they have just confirmed it will continue without giving any more details - I don't think anyone really thought it was going to be lifted next week anyway.

It means I'm going to have to go and do some proper shopping rather than just topping up on fruit and vegetables.

StrangeLookingParasite · 08/04/2020 23:28

Oh great like we don't have enough extra restrictions, local papers are just reporting that now we also can't exercise between 11 and 7 in department 68.

10h and 19h here in 75.

NomadNoMore · 08/04/2020 23:41

These blanket no exercise rules are mad. I can understand in cities but I used to be out for two hour walks without seeing another human.

MadameF · 09/04/2020 06:49

Yes, Macron is definitely going to speak Monday instead of today (which is what they said on the 20h France 2 news too last night).
He is going to justify the prolonging - with no date this time - of confinement.
Nomad it is frustrating when you live in the countryside and see no-one but I can understand why it isn't possible to legislate individually. I think everyone is interpreting the rules somewhat differently. I'm running twice a day with the dog, but I see no-one when out. OTOH I've managed to get my supermarket shop down to once a week which is where I do meet a lot of people and that is more important to reduce contact.

Wallywobbles · 09/04/2020 06:59

@Watchagotcha try the BFMTV app. Very good headlines and notifications.

Mimishimi · 09/04/2020 07:04

Can't believe we are living under the Gestapo again

Mistigri · 09/04/2020 07:19

These local rules (they're nothing to do with the national govt) are the stupidest public health measures I've seen so far in France.

My daughter lives alone in central Paris in a minuscule studio with no outside space. She goes out walking about every other day (can't exercise at home, no space) - up till now the streets have been empty.

Last night she was forced to go out at 7pm and for the first time in over 3 weeks there were significant numbers of people on the streets because of the new restrictions.

Fucking stupid decision by Hidalgo, with totally predictable consequences.

CroissantsAtDawn · 09/04/2020 07:48

Walking is ok in Paris all day. It's running that isn't allowed. I took the boys out at 5pm yesterday and there were lots of families walking the DC....

I read Le Monde, Le Figaro and 20Minutes.

And when I want direct info I check the Mairie de Paris website.

@Mistigri

Walking is fine in the day and before 10am it's really nice out at the moment. Warm but not too hot and not busy (I think a lot of people are lying in - certainly my colleagues without DC are!)

The updates by the local govermnets are really not well organised. I can only find one sentence in a local paper. Is there anything on any local government websites? No. So does the restriction mean I can go out with kids and dogs, or does it mean I can't use the 'exercise close to home' box only after 7?

poppadopolis · 11/04/2020 14:21

Just seen this in our local paper Angry. Twat.

English precis: Idiot stopped numerous times for breaching the lockdown. He went to meet his mates for a kebab in the nearest big town. Just been sentenced to 18 months.

KatharinaRosalie · 11/04/2020 15:33

All while law abiding residents are trying to figure out what the rules now are that we need to abide by..
Over here as said, jogging is not allowed this weekend between 11 and 19. I normally do not meet a soul when out - today it seemed that the entire village had decided to take up running, exactly at 10AM. If the idea was that there would be fever people out at the same time, it certainly did not work.

On positive news, Sante Publique France has stated that cases in Grand Est have peaked on the 23-29 March week.

poppadopolis · 11/04/2020 16:03

That's good to hear @KatharinaRosalie (the stats, not the runners)

MadameF · 11/04/2020 16:36

Has anyone heard anymore about possible un-confinement date? My daughter was chatting to her Fac friends today and two parents (one gendarme, another who works in a Labaratoire) have received emails saying it is programmed for June 6th.

KatharinaRosalie · 11/04/2020 17:28

June!!
The start of de-confinement? Didn't they say something about gradual one last week?
Spain is allowing some non-essential businesses to open next week.

AuldAlliance · 11/04/2020 18:20

Blanquer and Vidal are to make a joint statement on Tues about concours.
Rumours I've heard about what they will say are not reassuring for anyone who thinks that being able to speak English is a vaguely useful skill for an agrégé d'anglais...

BurneyFanny · 11/04/2020 18:50

Thé FCPE 93 agrees with you Auld...

BurneyFanny · 11/04/2020 18:54

I have to say I’m skeptical about people who claim to be in the know. If they tell every gendarme they might as well just make a general announcement

justasking111 · 11/04/2020 18:55

I am worried about a friend in France remote area, her mental health has been fragile, any strengthening will push her further into depression. Her nearest neighbour 2km away, only a cat for company, it is grim. Her OH did a runner last summer so money worries too.

Roseau18 · 11/04/2020 19:05

We were supposed to be having "jurys d'examen" on 6/7 June. On Friday we got an email saying that they had sought and obtained permission to hold them via video-conference if necessary. I have to say that the idea the university might still be closed the 1st week in June made me feel very depressed.

BurneyFanny · 11/04/2020 19:08

As in the fcpe cr of their meeting with the Inspecteur du 93

BurneyFanny · 11/04/2020 19:10

Sounds like you might be a colleague of me and Auld Roseau :-)

Roseau18 · 11/04/2020 19:16

Possibly but I'm nowhere near 93.
