Lockdown conditions in France

CroissantsAtDawn · 17/03/2020 06:01

Ive seen lots of threads with people worrying about lockdown.and how they would cope/ it would be enforced.

Last night, following the President's announcement I received a text message from the government confirming the lockdown for 15 days and linking to a site with details.

From 12 today we are only allowed out to go to work if work from home isnt possible, buy groceries, see a doctor, help elderly/vulnerable family in need (with reminder about barrier actions), to let a dog do its business or for individual physical activity close to home.

Each time you need a paper dated and signed explaining why you are out. Infringements are fined 38-135 euros. The paper can be downloaded and printed, shown on your phone or just hand written.

100 000 police and army personnel are being deployed to enforce the conditions.

No mention of how children can exercise. Just that parks etc are closed and there should be no family or friends gathering.

We are going to test going out early for run with 1 DC each and hope that is allowed in "individual activity". If its not I ll stand on the doorstep and watch them run up and down the road (2 highly active boys living in a flat....)

Cote it's actually easier than the paper one, in some ways.

This is the link:
media.interieur.gouv.fr/deplacement-covid-19/?fbclid=IwAR25_1fBqxlWs8tRN6K16dHF1B7_mow30a4XiqqpwcaMtpJlOvvvxnwzOwk

The trick is to open it on your phone in whatever browser you use, but don't close it after you've generated the pdf. You can then just change the date/time/tickboxes as necessary, without having to re-enter every bloody thing.

AuldAlliance · 08/04/2020 06:46

Hi Cote
Nice to hear from you, too!
I'm glad everything went OK. Can't believe that was so long ago...

CroissantsAtDawn · 08/04/2020 08:15

I had my date and time written in pencil when the Gendarmes stopped me yesterday - they didn't say anything.

I also haven't had post (Paris) for days but I have received 3 parcels over the past 2 weeks.

Ive just been to the supermarket though and could hardly get anything I needed - bread, milk, flour, sugar, lardons....

I think I went too early as lots of shelves were empty but I cant go later as I have meetings....

Ooh just spotted this thread. Bonjour everyone. I'm in the 93 which is hit particularly hard.

KatharinaRosalie · 08/04/2020 09:46

Bonour Burney! I'm in 68 so it has been very challenging here, but the numbers are clearly improving, more people getting out of hospital than going in.

I went to Switzerland yesterday and there was nobody at the border crossing on my way back to France. So much for closed borders..

MadameF · 08/04/2020 09:54

Roseau we are only getting La Poste deliveries Thurs - Sat at the moment but everything I've ordered has arrived, albeit later than normal.

KatharinaRosalie · 08/04/2020 13:12

Has anybody seen any estimates of how many people are really infected? I was just reading an article that they estimate that about 40% of people in Madrid have it, meaning they might be able to relax the confinement there, as there is stronger herd immunity compared to places that were not as badly affected.

NomadNoMore · 08/04/2020 13:59

Re deliveries, my dog food from Amazon came two days early.

I ordered a radio from Darty as I only have very limited internet. It took them less than a day to despatch but Colissimo a further week to deliver. I just caught the driver throwing it over my six foot gates!

clearsommespace · 08/04/2020 14:24

I have just done my weekly supermatket shop. They had lardons but a limited selection of cheese. No flour but plenty of sugar.
I phoned the garden centre in the hope they would be open for edible plants but they aren't. (Hauts de France).

More people in masks this week. Not sure if due to govt advice or just because they are available now.

CroissantsAtDawn · 08/04/2020 15:43

There's always been loads of masks where I live, even when the government was saying they were more risky than not and begging people to donate them to frontline health professionals who didn't have enough masks.

I went to a second shop and managed to get everything except flour. bad to do 2 I know but I was missing lots of basics.

Now they're talking again about several more weeks of lockdown. I can feel the walls closing in..

NonUrinatInVentum · 08/04/2020 17:21

Is anyone else in 01? I went to the supermarket today, Migros, and it was uncomfortably full. It was hard to practice social distancing. I think people are getting antsy and going out more Sad

CroissantsAtDawn · 08/04/2020 17:55

There is no way we'll be out of lockdown before May 4th ie the end of all school holidays (to avoid a mass movement of people). But then there's May 8th so that puts end of lockdown at May 11th....but what about May 21st?? Grin

I think it'll be the 11th at the earliest with possibly not being allowed to leave your region. Those at risk will still be in lockdown at first.

I'm going a bit stir crazy. Went for a walk with the DSes earlier and there were loads of people.

20 minutes was reporting that an estimated 25% of "Parisians" left Paris in the 48 hours before lockdown. Over half of that number was foreigners going back to their home countries and "provinciaux" going back to their home towns.

Goes a long way to explaining why Paris feels so empty! Especially as no one is coming in to work...

MadameF · 08/04/2020 17:59

My money is on 18th May now at the earliest and by region.
Croissants I'm not surprised you have cabin fever in a Paris appartement.
Here in the countryside it is much easier, I'm working remotely quite well and don't miss the commute to Rennes at all,

missclimpson · 08/04/2020 18:10

If I have understood the figures correctly, this is the first time in our region we have seen a diminution and not an augmentation in the number in hospital and in reanimation in the last 72 hours. They are the figures from ARS Normandie.
Sorry about the franglais.

Watchagotcha · 08/04/2020 20:11

Where do you guys hear about when Macron / Philippe are going to make the next big announcement(s)? I tend not to listen to the radio (deaf) and the children are hogging the tv (Fortnite and Netflix).

KatharinaRosalie · 08/04/2020 20:16

Newspapers, I read Le Monde and Le Figaro. Next announcement on Monday, but they already said the lockdown will be extended. www.lemonde.fr/planete/article/2020/04/08/alors-que-la-france-recense-plus-de-10-000-morts-du-coronavirus-une-multiplication-des-mesures-pour-eviter-un-relachement-du-confinement_6035903_3244.html

Watchagotcha · 08/04/2020 20:29

I do read le monde - and that article I suspect my French is not good enough and I pick up the general intent but not the specifics.

KatharinaRosalie · 08/04/2020 20:30

Over in Grand Est we're also having more people getting out of hospital than going in, so the patient numbers are going down.

Gfplux · 08/04/2020 20:30

Just checking in from Luxembourg

We have very similar extreme social distancing laws as France. However no document to be filled out if you leave the house.

KatharinaRosalie · 08/04/2020 20:53

Oh great like we don't have enough extra restrictions, local papers are just reporting that now we also can't exercise between 11 and 7 in department 68.

MadameF · 08/04/2020 21:09

Katharina Castaner has given more power to the préfets and I think most will follow the example of Paris and restrict runners to going out before 10H and after 19H to reduce the social distance. Runners have got a really bad press so far with the Coronavirus in a lot of countries it seems!
About time Macron gave an update!

KatharinaRosalie · 08/04/2020 21:17

it's really unclear from the newspaper article what the restriction applies to, they say 'sport', but not clear if I can still take the kids out for a walk. Or dogs? They're used to having their long walk at lunchtime.

Roseau18 · 08/04/2020 21:31

Macron was supposed to be talking on the televison tomorrow evening (9th April). I can't work out if that has now been cancelled and replaced by Monday or if he will be doing both.
