I just dont get how anyone can be against vaccines after this ( unless you think it was created on purpose by the powers that be in order to make money or control humanity through fear.)

OP posts:
longwayoff · 17/03/2020 03:01

Bloody hell, Piers Corbyn! It's another world. If it were so easy to acquire herd immunity then there would never have been a need for vaccines or any desire to protect ourselves and others from polio, smallpox, etc. So CAPITAL LETTERS, VACCINATE your children.

Luckystar777 · 17/03/2020 03:05

That link implies we could choose to be vaxxed or not, lmao. As if.

Coyoacan · 17/03/2020 03:34

Well said, JustOneMoreStep

Henrysmycat · 17/03/2020 05:54

@Luckystar777 what are you talking about? Your word salad posts make no sense!!! What’s that wakey wakey about?

Henrysmycat · 17/03/2020 05:59

@Luckystar777 as someone who nearly lost a sibling due to a fucker antivaxxer, all antivaxxer nut jobs deserve a place in hell.
And what I hate about this Andrew Wakefield and his circle of brainwashed idiots is that they vilified autism and it’s spectrum.
Being autistic or on the spectrum is not a death sentence, it’s not terminal cancer.
I’ve seen more idiots that are meant to be “normal” and your average Joe than people on the spectrum. Ffs.

finn1020 · 17/03/2020 06:05

Yeah I wonder how many would still be happy to be part of the herd once we do get a vaccine. Guess it will make it easy to draw the line if it’s in short supply.

Crackerofdoom · 17/03/2020 06:07

Some anti vaxxers are in a breastfeeding group on Facebook which I left recently because they were telling each other they could "immunize" their babies if they got Coronavirus then breastfed. They were even planning to BF their older children to "protect them"

Do they not realise that this is effectively what a vaccine does?

Just in a more scientific way Confused

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 17/03/2020 06:14

Gosh, let’s try to spread hate whilst we deal with this, shall we?

I like to comment on these threads as it interests me from the perspective of a shut down of debate. I am a cautious vaccinator meaning my kids have had most but not all.

Perhaps I am indeed crazed as like many people, suspect this virus was accidentally leaked from the Wuhan lab that opened last year which was testing various corona viruses on monkeys.

I very much hope a vaccine is created soon. I will not be rushing for any such vaccines being in a low risk group. If I had elderly parents or health issues in relatives I would be hoping they could receive it, provided the data from the studies looked ok and it wasn’t going to cause more issues rather than less. And that’s my issue with some vaccines - if a vaccine is fairly ineffective and possibly has side effects - it’s a careful balancing issue.

One question for the vaxxers. Do you now see why “science” is never settled and is a constantly moving feast? That even the best scientific minds can disagree?

I remain utterly convinced for the need of proper research into the side effects of the HPV vaccine; for example, and do not give my children the annual flu vaccine.

BecauseReasons · 17/03/2020 06:16

Personally, I would not vaccinate my child against coronavirus with a speedily-approved vaccine with no long term safety record, and I've vaccinated her against everything else. So I daresay most anti-vaxxers would not be moved by this particular disease to change their stance.

BecauseReasons · 17/03/2020 06:19

I'll modify that statement to say, unless there turned out to be long term health complications to acquiring coronavirus for a significant subset of the under tens.

Pukkatea · 17/03/2020 06:36

Not everything is a chance to have a dig at anti vaxxers, but more things should be.

Bezalelle · 17/03/2020 06:52

Jeremy Corbyn has a brother named PIERS?

misses point

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 17/03/2020 06:54

Pathetic pukka are people like you are the reason that people can’t air any concerns about any vaccines.

One thing I hope the next few months is teach compassion and understanding. We desperately need to be better able to debate kindly

Ginfordinner · 17/03/2020 06:58

and she quoted a statistic about the number of people who die annually from TB

That will be all the people who aren’t vaccinated against it then. You can’t argue with stupid.

I simply don’t understand how anti vaxxers don’t believe how smallpox was eradicated or how we very rarely see polio in this country.

Are you OK Luckystar777? Grin

LaStreng · 17/03/2020 07:00

As soon as someone says wakey wakey or wake up sheeple it's game over for reasonable discussion Grin

My cousin is an anti vaxxer. Lovely girl. But totally sucked in by that 5G conspiracy theory 🙄 and it's allllll over certain Facebook groups. "Sheeple" of a different kind I guess.

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 17/03/2020 07:40

I was also wondering if uptake of other vaccines would be higher now people have seen what an epidemic looks like in reality. But it might be too far removed to make a difference since it doesnt affect children much- it may just reinforce their beliefs that children's immune systems can fight off anything

HarryElephante · 17/03/2020 07:44

I love all the frothing at the mouth a good old vaccination chat provokes.

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 17/03/2020 07:44

@Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow I dont think the current outbreak changes my view of science. Science relies on peer reviewed studies and lots of them. There hasn't been the chance for this yet with corona which is why the advice varies so much - there are so many unanswered questions. This doesnt make me question unrelated vaccines

LimeTreeGrove · 17/03/2020 08:16

The WHO etc are just laughing at you. Wakey wakey. Laughing about what?

Noodlenosefraggle · 17/03/2020 08:24

Surely the anti vaxxers are dead pleased with the government's previous 'herd immunity'
approach of letting everyone get it naturally so they are immune? Or are they only in favour of herd immunity if their DC's are protected by other people vaccinating but not if their dc's might actually have to get it to contribute to herd immunity?

DappledThings · 17/03/2020 08:26

Surely the anti vaxxers are dead pleased with the government's previous 'herd immunity'
approach of letting everyone get it naturally so they are immune?

They are. But are also doing that really annoying faux naivety thing where they profess not to understand why "natural" herd immunity isn't therefore also the approach to measles, rotavirus etc etc.

Noodlenosefraggle · 17/03/2020 08:47

Well that's now easily explained by the 'natural' herd immunity causing 250,000 deaths. Measles, mumps, German Measles etc deaths will be of children. Every year until only those who live long enough to get immunity live to adulthood. The worst thing about anti vaxxers is that this would be unpalatable to them. The only reason they are anti vaxxers is because my children and most other children's parents have taken the risk to vaccinate, and that in turn protects their children.

Luckystar777 · 17/03/2020 13:42

@Ginfordinner I'm fucking awesome thank you. Grin

@Henrysmycat you need to do more research, the vaxxing has two sides, sure it saved some, but it has also harmed/killed some too. There are even nurses who used to give them and be pro vax and have seen damages and now refuse to do it. They are on youtube #vaxxed

check it out.

and chill out.

Luckystar777 · 17/03/2020 13:43

@LimeTreeGrove Laughing at you all for believing they give a shit about you. You really think any of them actually care about us? LOL.

Henrysmycat · 17/03/2020 14:14

@luckystar777, you forgot you tin foil hat. And still you need to learn to write. You make zero sense.
“It saved some” Some? It saved your ass and the human race. It saved billions, vaccines eradicated diseases like smallpox but it’s some to people like you that want to pretend they are more clues up that the rest of us. I sure, you’re a fountain of knowledge and wisdom. Grin Biscuit
