I just dont get how anyone can be against vaccines after this ( unless you think it was created on purpose by the powers that be in order to make money or control humanity through fear.)

That is exactly what they think!

Yallreadyforthis · 16/03/2020 23:16

Jesus- move to right topic. YABU for trying to stir more hatred. Uncalledfor

DappledThings · 16/03/2020 23:23

They think it isn't actually a virus but is a weakness caused by radiation poisoning from the 5G rollout and is designed to make people sick so that they will accept a new vaccine which itself will make them sicker which is all part of the plan for global population.

Yep. You heard it here first fans of craziness.

AgentPrentiss · 16/03/2020 23:24

The insanepeopleoffacebook sub on reddit has been my amusement for many days with the anti vaxxer crowd.. 🤦‍♀️

JustOneMoreStep · 16/03/2020 23:26

Is everything an opportunity to dig at antivaxxers? There isn't a vaccine so it's a non issue.
-Some people choose not to vaccinate.
-Some people base their choice to vaccinate on bad science/research
-Some people choose not to vaccinate because they have personal experiences that cause them concerns about vaccines.
-Some people dont vaccinate because they are advised not to due to underlying health issues.
-some people dont vaccinate due to cultural or religious reasons
-Some people just dont care/are too lazy to bother vaccinating
-Some people just dont think it will happen to them

The organisation of those reasons will differ from person to person and we will all judge at least some of those reasons based on how we individual value those arguments, that's human nature. However Covid19 is unrelated and dramatising the argument in this way is unhelpful and potentially causes more people to not vaccinate. We as a race make pretty good sheep

No, but ridiculous bollocks does tend to be Grin

EmpressMcSchnozzle · 16/03/2020 23:30

@AgentPrentiss...thank you, that's cheered up my Monday evening. (Must...resist...the....lure...of...Reddit....)

SooPDoZang · 16/03/2020 23:32

It depends what you grew up hearing/believing i think, which then warps the way you view them as an adult

My mum was dead set against vaccines. None of my siblings or I received them growing up. We grew up believing they were all poisen and were population control by the government, that they cause problems in your children ect

It is very hard to shake that belief having it installed in you your entire life. I have 2 children 5 and 3 and my eldest has only just started having her vaccines a few months ago, she's only had 2 so far. Even though all the logic points to them being safe I still struggle accepting that they are healthy , to the point no matter how much i read i just couldnt bring myself to have my tiny babies vaccinated, just incase.

I am scared about coronovirus but my mum's beliefs are that deeply installed in me I dont think I could trust the vaccine yet,

People talk about anti vaxxers like their crazy, but in my experience it comes from fear. I hope to not pass this fear onto my children which i dont think i will as I do not mention anything about them to the kids or in general tbh

TheClaws · 16/03/2020 23:35

They have their elderberry, breastmilk, colloidal silver, and urine supplies all ready to go. Immune systems fired up and COVID-19 impermeable!

Cattenberg · 16/03/2020 23:38

My New Age anti-vaxxer friend believes that Coronavirus has been blown out of proportion, and she quoted a statistic about the number of people who die annually from TB.

I think she also said that she wanted to catch Coronavirus soon so that she’d be immune (I don’t know if that would work) and that if “they” wanted to vaccinate her, they’d have to strap her down.

TheClaws · 16/03/2020 23:39

Well done to you, SooP. That must be an incredibly difficult thing for you to counter. Your children will thank you, though.

Neome · 16/03/2020 23:39

What you said SoopDoZang made me think maybe the important messages might be positive attitudes to disability ie autism doesn’t make someone any less of a valuable person.

malificent7 · 16/03/2020 23:54

Im not stirring up hatred..i was scared to get dd vaccinated...but i did it as im more scared of polio etc.

OP posts:
Vinylsamso · 16/03/2020 23:59

I’d imagine they all think different things as they are different people. Wouldn’t your question make more sense if it were “what do anti vaxxers think about a possible corona vaccine, would they take it?”

user1473878824 · 17/03/2020 00:06

Can’t believe I’m reading what amounts to a defence of anti vaxxers. And while I am very very sorry for your experience @SooPDoZang, vaccinate your children.

WhatTiggersDoBest · 17/03/2020 00:14

Some anti vaxxers are in a breastfeeding group on Facebook which I left recently because they were telling each other they could "immunize" their babies if they got Coronavirus then breastfed. They were even planning to BF their older children to "protect them". Some people literally think breastmilk is a substitute for vaccines and they get really angry if you question them.

WhatTiggersDoBest · 17/03/2020 00:16

@SooPDoZang "People talk about anti vaxxers like their crazy, but in my experience it comes from fear."
This is what I think too. Some anti-vaxxers are just scared and they end up looking for information in the wrong places.

PutColinInTheCorner · 17/03/2020 00:17

Why aren't people posting this kind of stuff in the appropriate topic areas? It's not difficult sigh

malificent7 · 17/03/2020 00:47

I am more scared of disease than vaccinations....i am more scared of disease damage than vaccine damage.

Interesting question OP.

There isn't a vaccine so it's a non issue

I thought someone would come straight out with that but I think you've missed the point ie, COVID-19 is an example of the destruction viruses can cause if left unchecked OR if people do not comply with vaccination programmes.

For example, measles killed 150, 000 people worldwide last year, that would be way higher if everyone decided not to vaccinate.

I’m genuinely amazed that Mumsnet, usually the bastion of vaccinate your children you dangerous idiot, are having a go at the OP. Anti vaxxers could result in your child dying.

Luckystar777 · 17/03/2020 01:09

You relise some people cannot get vaccines and used to be PRO vaxxers, right? You realise several hundreds if not more of PRO vaxxers have had injuries from vaccines, right? The WHO etc are just laughing at you. Wakey wakey.

user1473878824 · 17/03/2020 01:11

Jesus Christ.

ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen · 17/03/2020 01:20

Well Jeremy Corbyn's brother Piers seems to think no one should be vaccinated for Covid-19 even if/when they find a vaccine because Bill Gates or something conspiracy conspiracy.
