Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

The sun is shining here and it’s amazing how it can lift your mood. My wonderful middle boy lives abroad and sent me a lovely mother’s day message. I call him mine, but he came to live with us as a 16yr old homeless lad. I’m so proud of him. He’s still mine though. Grin

That's lovely to hear. What a great mother you must be Smile

AutumnRose1 · 22/03/2020 11:10

Totally - of course he’s your boy. That’s really lovely.

Orangeblossom78 · 22/03/2020 11:48

Do we not get an extra hour in the evenings next week with the start of British summer time?

AutumnRose1 · 22/03/2020 11:56

Orange, yes we do. Blossoms are in bud round here.

Cornettoninja · 22/03/2020 12:09

MN must be earning a fortune through me - I keep accidentally clicking their Disney+ advert Grin

StCharlotte · 22/03/2020 12:25

My adult nieces have just dropped round (from a safe distance of course) a lovely "Aunties' Day" bouquet as neither their other aunt nor I have children. They do it every year but I didn't expect anything this year so am extra touched Smile

Spudlet · 22/03/2020 13:14

Had a contretemps with DH this morning about his woeful Mother’s Day performance - all friends again now though and we’re in the sunshine, digging out an extension to the vegetable patch. Well, DH and I are. DS says he’s digging for treasure, and I even found him some - a marble! He’s very pleased with it.

This year, we plan to grow strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, three types of potato, leeks, carrots, perpetual spinach, beetroot, little gem lettuces, pumpkins, courgettes and blue sprouting broccoli. So we need the extra space!

To say thank you for this thread...

I had a lovely walk around the Loch near me this morning in the sunshine and spent a happy 20 minutes watching a pair of herons going about their business and hearing a woodpecker - couldn't spot it though.

Lovely. Onwards and upwards. We'll get there.

Robin233 · 22/03/2020 13:33

@totally - you're amazing 😉
@StCharlotte - that's awesome 😎
Love this thread - I do keep dipping in and out some of the other simply to check in reading then right 😳

Spudlet · 22/03/2020 13:34

DS also painted a rainbow yesterday, and we put it in the front window today. Not that anyone walks past us, we’re a bit too far out! But it’s cheering us up 🌈

Somebody sent me this, which I found very cheering. It goes along with the clear water in Venice and the lovely quiet sky outside my house.

What has everyone been doing today?

I have been v productive 😀. Sorted out my masses of recycling for tomorrow. I don’t usually bother with the collection and recycle it myself once a month at the dump.

Cleaned my bike and turbo trainer and brought them in from the garage - just need to set it up now.

I am really looking forward to Mallory Towers on iplayer tomorrow 😍. Well done the BBC for bringing it forward and making it all available on day 1 - planning on binge watching it.

DD thought she was a fairy from the age of 4 until she was about 9 or 10. I saved her little outdoor fairy houses and doors that we used to have all over the garden. They were out until we moved two years ago. I got them all out this morning and cleaned them/dotted them about the garden for a bit of cheer!

I have also washed all my outdoor cushion covers, I thought I might need to make new ones as they were all green after I left them out all winter but no, they are gleaming, cream once more.

Millie2013 · 22/03/2020 14:13

I love the rainbows in windows, Monday would see ours, but we may do one anyhow 🌈
We’ve just been for a lovely long walk in the country park behind our house. We’re so lucky to live here, but rarely venture in

I told DD that back in the day, people from the city centre me used to get the bus out here for the day, with a picnic. That was their summer holiday, just that one day

We also discovered a community orchard up there and a stream to paddle in

Simple pleasures ❤️

Bunnyflop · 22/03/2020 14:18

Hi everyone! God do I need this thread. I have manic depression, severe anxiety and body dysmorphia (as well as fibromyalgia) and after a rough winter illness patch I was SO looking forward to being out and about, day trips, doing the garden etc. And now all that has become self isolation.

So I’m trying (trying!!) to make the best of it by ordering some new roses for the garden and laying some grass seed etc. Also getting outside every day.

Here’s a couple of photos of our pet rabbit to spread cheer to you all!

That’s so cute about the fairy stuff, Bouncing, DD has a little fairy garden, it’s a bit messy, so we might give it a tidy up

Millie2013 · 22/03/2020 14:23

Hey Bunny and welcome! I feel a bit the same in that the only thing that gets me through winter is the thought of spring and planning days out 😢 Stick with us though, this thread is very mental health boosting

Love the bunny, I’m about to sit outside with mine and have a cuppa ❤️

Bunnyflop · 22/03/2020 14:27

@millie2013 ooh a fellow bunny owner! How old is yours?

HonestlyItsFine · 22/03/2020 14:36

Having a major wobble today after unwisely reading some threads and news articles. Feel sick.
Have been pottering around though. It's been a nice day.

Oops, hit post too soon! Anyway, the link above made me smile today.

Bouncingbomb · 22/03/2020 14:50

I have switched to reading the Guardian Honestly, the reporting seems more balanced.

Hi Bunny 👋. Welcome. I am really appreciating getting outside in my garden, can you do that? I overestimated the sunshine/temp earlier and came in for a coat but still lovely.

A photo of ‘Kitler’ the destroyer kitten to spread some cheer.

Re the death rate that was being discussed last night, there was a very good article on the BBC a day or so ago which talked about what is not being taken into account is that some of the patients would probably have died during the Outbreak anyway, regardless of infection. Of course that is still very sad and awful for the families, but it refocuses the mind on whether deaths are additional to the “natural deaths” that would have occurred anyway.

I read something about the cruise ships in isolation. A Dr said that, taking the average age of your average cruise passenger, usually 70-ish, if you locked 2,000-odd 70yo people away for a few weeks, by the law of averages a handful would die regardless of a virus circulating.

I know it’s not a cheery subject, but I guess I’m trying to help put things a little into perspective. I will try and find that BBC article which explained it much better than me!
