Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

My new positive thought is that once people start to get it and recover they can slowly return to society and help everyone else. I believe they're fairly certain you can't catch it twice so hopefully that will be 100% certain soon and those who have recovered will be able to help protect the vulnerable.

Love the links that have been shared this morning, thank you! Very cheering. DH is working from home today but I'm off with DD so we've been making a card for her lovely nursery who she will miss so much. Also turned bathtime into an hour-long activity which used up some energy! The other bonus I've found this morning is the knowledge that we won't get any vomiting bugs for the next how ever long we're isolated for! I haaaaate vomiting bugs!

Millie2013 · 19/03/2020 12:07

DD is doing something educational on line (bbc bitesize) so I’m actually getting a bit of peace and getting on with some work
I’m lucky in that she is motivated to learn stuff and we’re lucky that we have such s fab range of resources too

Just wanted to remind people to join in with the Mumsnet mindfulness thread. Very much looking forward to seeing people's suggestions/contributions etcSmile

We will win the war against this together. There is a cure and there are vaccines, they just need to be tested. We just have to wait it out by ourselves at home and stay strong, supporting the healthcare workers who are walking in to the fire. We will overcome this.

I just wanted to post this again:

Beat wishes to you all and your families.

Slightly frustrating today. IT people trying to set me up but the main bit that I use (never been done remotely before by our firm) isn't working. So he's investigating and I'm just killing time at home. It wasn't helped by kittens "trying to help"! Blush

During one of the many calls our respective postmen knocked at the same time. By the time we got back to our desks (both upstairs), he was out of breath but I wasn't. Not great for him but encouraging for me Smile

HonestlyItsFine · 19/03/2020 13:40

Ooh, I love an animal live cam. I've just checked but none of the animals are active right now. Will keep an eye!

marmitecheesetoast · 19/03/2020 13:49

Ooh totally bookmarking that @CaveMum!

StCharlotte · 19/03/2020 13:50

There are so many global positives. The free range penguins in zoos, the drop in pollution, Venice recovering, community spirit (for now!). It's like the world has pressed "reset".

It suddenly feels like we're no longer at the top of the food chain and Mother Nature is taking back control which in the long term might be a good thing?

I just hope the price isn't too much higher for us humans because I quite like my life Smile

Anyway, hurry up and ring IT man, philosophy wasn't on my agenda today Grin

marmitecheesetoast · 19/03/2020 13:53

Just heard a cheering news story on Jeremy vine show about a gin distillery which has now switched to making hand sanitiser to help address the shortage, not making any money from it but instead asking for donations to charity. Even better they are asking people to bring their own bottles to the distillery and filling them for them so as not to add to plastic waste!

StCharlotte · 19/03/2020 14:03

Said "helpful" kittens. I swear she's laughing at me!

Oxford scientists have developed a test that gives results in 30 minutes.
Not sure if its the same one that was linked earlier, but looks promising!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/03/2020 14:23

What I really want is a test which will tell not only if you have it, but if you have had it and are therefore no longer likely either to catch it or to infect anyone else. That would be exceedingly useful, since it would mean all sorts of places could open again with people who were not a danger or in danger working in them; not to mention that knowing about anyone in any sort of health profession (doctors, nurses, surgeons, dentists) who had had it and recovered would be a very good thing.

I am confidant such a test will be developed, if it hasn't been already.

Hippofrog · 19/03/2020 14:31

This is a lovely thread, thank you

HonestlyItsFine · 19/03/2020 14:36

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime yes- that would be ideal! Apart from the points you raised, it would save so much worry and stress in a lot of people. I'm sure that Boris or one of his medical advisors yesterday said they are developing one, so fingers crossed.

gingerbreadslice · 19/03/2020 14:42

@StCharlotte OH MY GOD! they are so cute I want one Sad

Siameasy · 19/03/2020 14:46

Oh kittens 😍
I also think that the positive side of this is that people are having to slow down. Everyone I know is adamant about not wasting food. Even the little tomato slices that came with our takeaway last night got chucked in the chilli I made just now

StCharlotte · 19/03/2020 14:49

gingerbreadslice

This morning you could have had both!

Siameasy · 19/03/2020 14:52

This is my cat. She is extremely ~needy~ affectionate with a very loud purr and sees herself as some sort of guard cat. She does inspections and security checks. If someone comes to the door she runs to answer it😂

OMG almost cried with relief to find you all again! I’ve been deliberately keeping away from MN but realise I need this thread. I felt v down yesterday after the schools announcement. Even though it was expected, the full enormity didn’t hit until it was declared. However, I think each new announcement has that effect on me and I just need a day or to to absorb it until it becomes my ‘new normal’.

Just getting my head around timetables and stuff for my 2 DC who I’m sure think they are in for one long holiday - they are in for a shock 😂

Canshopwillshop · 19/03/2020 15:13

@Siameasy - she’s beautiful!

Riv12345 · 19/03/2020 15:17

Yeah me too I always feel really anxious after an announcement!
Then as you say I'm ok after a while, at the moment I am up and down but this thread make me feel better Grin

AutumnRose1 · 19/03/2020 15:21

I know this is meant to be a happy thread but a cat just ignored me in the street and I need to sulk about it....

tobee · 19/03/2020 15:32

Lol AutumnRose1!

Funnily enough I was coming on to say I was checking on a few safe threads I've been on. I seem to be a thread killer! SadGrin
