Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

@tobee in answer to your question does a member of a house have to also self isolate because the people they are living with are doing 12 week isolation due to ill health or age - no, I don't think they do. Obviously it will increase the risk for the family members who are staying in for protection but they are increasing their safety by the fact that they are only coming into contact with one person not dozens/ hundreds.

We have to consider that a lot of people who will be doing the 12 week isolation for self protection will need to come into contact with carers and/ or medical professionals any way.

Obviously it makes sense for your DD to practice social distancing as much as she is able outside of the home, and also distance as much as you can within the home.

@Spudlet I like the idea of the potato farls. I'm thinking that gnocchi must follow a similar recipe - so if we have flour and potato we can make these things and not worry about the empty bread and pasta shelves!

Spudlet · 19/03/2020 08:34

I made gnocchi years ago! I think you also added an egg? Loads of recipes online, anyway. They were yummy, much lighter and less stodgy than the ones you buy in the shops.

tobee · 19/03/2020 09:22

As of, well, when I just looked, 85,769 people so far recovered.

Orangeblossom78 · 19/03/2020 09:27

I have been thinking about London, remembering that it has a generally young populations, e.g. see here

www.trustforlondon.org.uk/data/topics/population-geography/

Low proportion over 70 (who should hopefully be isolating anyway)
Maybe this will be a good thing, compared to e.g. Italy which has a high proportion of elderly...anyway just a thought as might be a positive thing for London

Can I just ask people a question about contact with grandchildren through this.

We are fairly young grandparents, 55 and 57 and were looking after our 9 and 4 year old grandchildren for a day and a half per week. As my daughter is a teacher she will still have to go into school at least some days as they are remaining open for key workers and vulnerable kids, but because of this she will be taking her own children with her as well as they are then considered children of key workers.

This obviously means we wont be looking after them as usual, we are practising social distancing particularly as we are in SE London.

However we don't want to not see our grandchildren for the next few months. Are we ok yo visit them? I know it says no family gatherings but we are not over 70 or particularly high risk, would meeting in the park be ok?

Hate the thought if not seeing them.

Majestic, sure ❤️

DPony (orange one) DNeighbour (I share his care, he’s in trouble here for emptying the bin) and DBunny

Siameasy · 19/03/2020 09:40

My DH’s parents are still in their 50s so are still working Key so they will be seeing DD
so yes it’s fine imo

tobee · 19/03/2020 09:44

Is it too outing to share names Millie?

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 19/03/2020 09:51

@Millie2013 Thank you for the photos - Dpony is very stylish, wearing his hat at such a radish angle!

The kingcups in my tiny wildlife pond are just coming into bloom (photo with added frogspawn), and while I was taking the photo there was a songthrush at the top of one of the neighbour's trees singing his heart out Smile

Given that most of my friends are in the hysterical camp, I don’t think it’s too outing, as doubt they’ll come on here
DPony is Phoebe
DNeghbour is Patrick
DBunny is George

I might add an eff off daily mail, in case they find this thread and out me 😂😂

(everything crossed).

MajesticWhine · 19/03/2020 10:33

What a gorgeous bunny he is. 😍

foxessocks · 19/03/2020 10:33

Just wanted to say quickly that Ken Bruce on radio 2 is really comforting to listen to right now!

TheChampagneGalop · 19/03/2020 10:36

George looks so cute!

purpleme12 · 19/03/2020 10:38

Oh lovely bunny and horse!

Orangeblossom78 · 19/03/2020 10:38

I've seen this test online, would like to know as had symptoms after France trip, any thoughts? www.alphabiolabs.co.uk/workplace-testing-services/coronavirus-testing-kit/

purpleme12 · 19/03/2020 10:40

Well I wouldn't trust it they'd be more publicised if it was a credible thing

Spudlet · 19/03/2020 10:41

Oh, lovely ponies and bunny!

@Orangeblossom78 I would be a bit sceptical about buying a test like that online, if I’m being honest. Of course it may be legit, but this whole thing is a shyster’s dream...

HonestlyItsFine · 19/03/2020 10:44

I saw that a British company had developed a breathalyser test- can't find the link now as all I get is the bollox about holding your breath for 10 minutes! But that would be amazing if true.

Orangeblossom78 · 19/03/2020 10:45

There's more about it here. Know what you mean...

www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/coronavirus-fingerprick-test-a4390471.html

HonestlyItsFine · 19/03/2020 10:51

Hopefully if it's proven to work, they can use it in hospitals to quickly identify who does and does not need isolating.

HonestlyItsFine · 19/03/2020 10:52

obviously as well as elsewhere- but for A+E's for example it would be very, very useful.

Spacecadetagain · 19/03/2020 11:00

@honestlyitsfine Thank you 😊 I will still try and make it a special day . Had to comfort a distraught DS ast night after learning GCSES were cancelled but I’m hoping some kind of solution will be put forward . I’ve signed DD up for some interactive maths lessons with an entertainer friend of mine who has been going into schools for years so she’s really looking forward to that !
