Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

Amazing with butter on them ❤️

Alsohuman · 18/03/2020 20:10

Oh. My. Goodness. Thank you @Spudlet. 💕

AutumnRose1 · 18/03/2020 20:12

I haven’t had potato farls for aaaages.

Millie2013 · 18/03/2020 20:14

Only one case recorded in Wuhan today! How amazing is that? (source = channel 4 news)

Alsohuman · 18/03/2020 20:16

Bloody brilliant.

Bouncingbomb · 18/03/2020 20:17

There is a new series of the Repair Shop on BBC - very feel good for me.

I worked from home for the first time today and everything worked really well (I am in a vulnerable group).

I have got tons of food, I have always lived rurally so long life milk and a full pantry and freezer = way of life. I haven't been shopping/had a delivery but could easily eat for several weeks. Have got plenty of eggs, chocolate, wine and my medication.

Teenage DD will be at home from Friday which will be ok, I am planning on a daily walk with her and doing yoga.

I hope to help to teach her to cook a bit more while she is off too!

I am going to light the chiminea once a week so we can have a night in the garden and have got three tins of paint so I can decorate three bedrooms!

Lots of plans which depend on staying well!

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 18/03/2020 20:21

Don't worry @tobee, no offence taken. Just didn't want things descending into gloom!

tobee · 18/03/2020 20:21

Did anyone read that ASMR thread that was on Mumsnet a few weeks ago?

I was cooking dinner tonight and was in rather a rush and didn't put my usual music on. The meal was one of those box kits of Vietnamese pork and involved a lot of cooking at high temperature and then turning down to simmer a bit.

This may sound a bit silly, (Grin) but the bits where the pan was really sizzling a felt quite relaxed and calm. Which I only noticed when the sizzling noise wasn't there!

Now I've revealed myself as a bit strange.

Spacecadetagain · 18/03/2020 20:43

I’ve spent the day ordering DDs presents and promised her we will still make her birthday a lovely one . I’ve got stuff to make a cake and one of my friends said we can have a video call and do party games with her kids too which is a lovely idea . We are going to face time her dad when she blows her candles as second eldest DS lives with him too so it will be a bit more fun for her and they can join in too as expected as ex lives three hours away so contact visits are probably going to end for a while . She seems happy with all that !

Callybrid · 18/03/2020 20:50

Ha, tobee, well that made me laugh anyway Grin - I don’t get the asmr thing, but on a related note the bloody extractor fan noise gives me real rage so DP and I have lots of silent wars switching it on and off as he thinks it needs to be on far longer than I deem necessary.

All the major supermarkets have been emailing today and I think the fact that many are rationing items is great news - if they can just slow down the buying a bit and the shelves don’t look bare then other people won’t panic and over-buy.

Read a nice article about people in Wuhan going fishing and going out for hotpot today, and enjoying watching entertainment shows on tv again now it’s not all cv all the time.

Speaking of which, I have been watching Love is Blind on Netflix - so awful and trashy that it is the perfect antidote to real life.

HonestlyItsFine · 18/03/2020 20:54

Spacecadetagain that sounds like a lovely birthday! I hope she has a great day.

StCharlotte · 18/03/2020 20:56

This may sound a bit silly, (grin) but the bits where the pan was really sizzling a felt quite relaxed and calm.

Only a bit strange!

We've switched to Radio 2 after years of Five Live but Rachel Burdon's doom mongering was so depressing. Anyway, I find Jo Wiley' s voice extraordinarily soothing.

peachgreen · 18/03/2020 20:59

I've spent more time chatting to friends today than I have done in months and it's been lovely. There's no "silver lining" to a situation where so many people have died and will die, but I'm determined to focus on the small positives in my own personal situation.

winterbear990 · 18/03/2020 21:00

Can I join please?

I've just logged into Facebook after a week and the conspiracy theories and forewarnings of impending doom have frightened me terribly. I have panic disorder and can't get my prescription of beta blockers. I need to read something light and reassuring Sad

nellodee · 18/03/2020 21:02

I don't know if this one has already been posted...

The World Health Organisation has announced that dogs cannot contract Covid-19. Dogs previously held in quarantine can now be released.

To be clear: WHO let the dogs out.

AsMuchUseAsAMarzipanDildo · 18/03/2020 21:04

winterbear . I need to read something light and reassuring

Watch this 😍 . twitter.com/akkitwts/status/1240271220773285888?s=20

DaffodilThatch · 18/03/2020 21:05

@Callybrid totally agree about Love is Blind! Completely addictive trash, a great distraction. Unfortunately I finished it a few days ago, so started watching 100 Humans which is a bit silly but good fun. It's kind of like a game show where they do "experiments', e.g. do people learn better from being criticised or praised.

@HeartsTrumpDiamonds that is worrying me too although do you have any local corner shops/farm shops? They are better near us

Bloodybackpain · 18/03/2020 21:24

My positive thought tonight is that at some point this must get better ...

Millie2013 · 18/03/2020 21:27

And it will get better. And people like us can seed the tiny bits of positivity that will grow ❤️

Letsdoanamechangeagain · 18/03/2020 21:28

For anyone that may be struggling with their mental health at the moment.

Headspace have put together some free mindful meditation resources in relation to reducing anxiety around the current situation. The section is called "weathering the storm" in the Headspace app

Nononononono33 · 18/03/2020 21:32

Hello, delurking to thank everybody for the positives on this thread. They’re really helping me. I called in to see my mum last night (probably shouldn’t have done but we are both feeling well and we sat apart, and she’s under 70) and I felt so much better as we had a bit of a laugh about it all (mostly as that was the only positive reaction we could have). We had a lovely chat with a cuppa.

Don’t want to stray too far into the panic buying thing, but I popped to a Spar on my lunch break today on the off-chance, and they had everything in except loo roll - plenty of milk, bread, meat etc. I know it can be pricier than a supermarket but it goes to show not everywhere is a panic-buying nightmare.

winterbear990 · 18/03/2020 21:32

@AsMuchUseAsAMarzipanDildo oh my, what a beautiful little bundle of joy!! That has warmed my heart - thank you! Smile

To add something positive that I'm glad about, my nonverbal DS who has autism has began talking a little. After having his bum changed today he approached OH and proudly told him "no poo poo" (this is unprecedented in our house)

I'm VERY proud Smile

dappledsunshine · 18/03/2020 21:32

@nellodee 🤣 My first proper laugh today- thank you.

Alsohuman · 18/03/2020 21:36

WHO let the dogs out

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
