Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

I wondered why the old one was so quiet then I realised there was this one!
Just joining as I was on the old one

Nadine Dorries MP 's mum Nowabruptly was diagnosed after her daughter gave it to her. She is 84 and had had recent heart surgery. The MP suffered reasonably badly (not hospitalised) but her mother was very mildly affected. Both are now recovered with no ill effects apparently!

tobee · 17/03/2020 23:29

And that's just one!

Tom Hanks is 63, not so very old but diabetic. He and his wife both now recovered apparently.

Nowabruptly · 17/03/2020 23:30

Oh thank you Tobee. I didn’t know she’d had a heart problem.

Nowabruptly · 17/03/2020 23:31

Just seen the other responses. Thank you!

I love this thread. It's a life saver.

Can anyone tell me if the rumours are true about not being able to remove restrictions without bounce back? Or a second peak in the autumn/winter? I keep hearing it and just thinking it'll be like this or locked down for a year.

I'd love to hear the positive counter point.

tobee · 18/03/2020 00:27

Well I'm looking at China's figures ... so far not bad - touch wood.

gingerbreadslice · 18/03/2020 00:36

Sainsbury's also have made changes today from now on you can only buy 2 of the same item it accounts for every single product so say two toffee yogurts, two tins of beans but you could obviously get two four packs of beans. I think that's brilliant

LaneBoy · 18/03/2020 00:39

Just found that on Tesco too. Not every item but popular stockpile type stuff like tinned veg and rice packets

I do wonder if it will be a lasting rule to prevent future panic buying surges

Bloodybackpain · 18/03/2020 02:02

I’ve woken up to find dh gone, he has obviously had a call out (he is in emergency services in a specialist role). Nothing unusual there about him vanishing in the night but don’t like the thought of him being out of the house at the moment.
I’m going to use my time productively to order some flowers for my mum and mil and then do some work!

userxx · 18/03/2020 06:31

There's a story on sky new about a 9 month old who has recovered. The doctor said it's going to be very common. So many people will get this and recover from it.

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 18/03/2020 07:27

@Nowabruptly, I did read that while Nadine and her mum both had it and Nadine was still feeling rough, her mum was well enough to push the Hoover round her feet saying something like, "We're tougher than you, us Northern stock..."

LaneBoy · 18/03/2020 07:38

It’s now in the BMJ about avoiding ibuprofen due to the potential worsening of symptoms so I’m hoping that could mean a reduction in numbers of people with complications if people follow the advice.

marmitecheesetoast · 18/03/2020 07:54

That’s positive about the supermarket changes, hopefully it’ll stop the crazy panic buying and empty shelves, or at least to some extent.

I turned off my phone and news last night and watched the stand up to cancer celebrity bake off and ate a hot cross bun (ok two hot cross buns!) which helped me switch off at least partly and was quite soothing.

Main thing I’m feeling massively anxious and stressed about at the moment aside from pregnancy/labour stuff is how on Earth we’re going to cope when DDs nursery closes. DH and I agreed we’ll sit down tonight and work out some sort of schedule. I’m hoping work will give us both some more guidance soon on how to manage this when suddenly no childcare. How are others in the situation managing?

I’ve got a midwife appt this morning and then a physio appt this afternoon for PGP which is at the local community hospital.... feel anxious about going but I still feel the physio appt is essential for me right now for dealing with the PGP pain.

marmitecheesetoast · 18/03/2020 07:56

Hugs to you @Bloodybackpain

Love that @Zoidbergonthehalfshell Grin

A few people mentioned upthread about trying yoga from home, I can really recommend yoga with Adrienne on YouTube! It’s so calming and she has a lovely soothing way... even better she has a large gorgoeus dog who usually snoozes at the bottom of her yoga mat!!

MollyWindley · 18/03/2020 08:03

We're semi-isolating, but are lucky enough to have allotments behind our terraced houses - we have access via our back gate which lets us avoid the crowds on the main road. Yesterday afternoon the sunshine was beautiful and I was able to wave at one of my elderly neighbours who has an allotment ( yes he probably should be self isolating but he was a safe distance away from us ) , there were primroses in flower and the apple trees have leaf buds....it was a lovely moment and I was grateful for it.

Nowabruptly · 18/03/2020 08:26

@Zoidbergonthehalfshell I love that!!

LaneBoy · 18/03/2020 08:31

I love your name zoidberg!

tobee · 18/03/2020 08:36

I sent my 83 year old mum some flavoured gin for Mother's Day (Grin) via Amazon. It was only after checkout that a notice popped up that, as an 18+ item, they'd need a signature for it. So I had to ring her and explain and give away the surprise. I had to explain that she wasn't to talk through the letterbox. I hope she doesn't forget. If they can't deliver it then that would be better than she opens the door.

tobee · 18/03/2020 08:37

Was to talk through the letterbox not wasn't

Alsohuman · 18/03/2020 09:06

It’s a bit grey here this morning. I’ve had to cancel a much anticipated lunch with a greatly loved mate but we’ve decided to have a weekly phone date while all this is going on. We really need to keep one another’s spirits up, don’t we?

Bloodybackpain · 18/03/2020 09:11

@tobee ah rats I added a bottle of Prosecco to my mums Mother’s Day flowers - didn’t think about the over 18 bit! Hopefully she and the delivery person will be sensible

tobee · 18/03/2020 09:15

Bloodybackpain someone posted something on Facebook about Royal Mail having plans in place so hopefully that will work for lots of delivery companies. My mum was also scammed on her credit card yesterday (Sad) and will be sent a new one which they normally need signature for.

Orangeblossom78 · 18/03/2020 09:23

tobee I heard with alcohol deliveries they ask the person to stand at the window and wave!

maybe it will be a suprise to them!

That's funny, and liked the image of the allotment also. I would like an allotment but not to do the work on it! Just have the end result.

Normal kind of morning here, in the south west (small city) walked DC to school, went to the co-op and got some bits. then home for coffee
