Think would be good to keep this thread going! Will link to the previous threads in a bit.

My anxiety has been awful today and I've not stopped crying since finishing work.
thanks for this thread, it's really helped bring me down and think of positive things.

shinynewapple2020 · 17/03/2020 21:03

Thanks everyone for all the positive stats about medical developments and recoveries.

Thanks also for the updates around the National Trust grounds and Leisure Centres.

@Rassy - snap about the Pilates class -our instructor has emailed us saying that this week she will do it online - not done anything like that before so that will be interesting- will need to shut the dog away first I think!

Love that article @alsohuman

Also was recommended this website by someone on another forum:
It's a counselling bot and quite good.

Poppyliveshere · 17/03/2020 21:17

Sorry, just scrolled back some pages and it’s already here, but no harm reminding ourselves again 😉

HonestlyItsFine · 17/03/2020 21:23

Poppyliveshere- indeed. We all need reminding of the good news frequently!

Small bit of good news: the recovery numbers are up to 81,691. This morning they were around the 8,000 mark, so rising rapidly. (and of course, not accounting for the thousands and thousands of people who haven't been tested is probably well over the 100,000 mark).

Poppyliveshere · 17/03/2020 21:34

I have a friend who started with a dry cough last Thurs. She self isolated straightaway, developed temperature and tight chest so classic CV, but no longer testing round here. Not felt great for a few days, but much improved on day 5 today, and she’s up and about cooking fresh food and feeling much better. She said it really wasn’t too bad at all, and had worse colds 😊

Sunshineanddogwalks · 17/03/2020 21:39

The empty shelves got to me a bit today and I posted about having to eat chocolate easter eggs instead of sandwiches tomorrow, and a lovely friend popped round with "the last loaf of bread in Sainsbury's!". What a fab mate. Quite made my day.

tobee · 17/03/2020 21:39

Don't want to be a downer Winkbut the number was at 80,000 this a.m not 8,000 Honestly!!

Siameasy · 17/03/2020 21:51

I find watching cheesy films eg chick flicks or rom coms help me
Also exercise a million percent helps. Just got back from my gymnastics class. They aren’t closing until they’re told to.

HonestlyItsFine · 17/03/2020 21:52

Oops- that's what I meant of course! Thanks topee.

gingerbreadslice · 17/03/2020 22:05

Has anyone started being kinder to themselves with all this going on? Usually I try and be strict with what I buy myself or eat and today I've ordered a new bag and I've had a LOT of chocolate and I've just finished a creme egg Grin

HonestlyItsFine · 17/03/2020 22:13

tobee, I can't see anything- although that may be me, because I also can't see some of the animal pictures on previous threads that people were commenting on!

gingerbreadslice I've been too anxious to eat, really. Forced myself earlier to cook a small, easy meal and managed to eat it- felt much better after!

HonestlyItsFine · 17/03/2020 22:14

Although chocolate does sound good, and when I do my next online shop (got plenty at the moment!) I'll get myself some.

ExpletiveDelighted · 17/03/2020 22:15

I've gone the other way Ginger - it has motivated me to try harder to lose some weight, I have not touched a crisp simce Friday (which is highly unusual for me!)

gingerbreadslice · 17/03/2020 22:24

See I did say I will use this time to lose weight but I haven't made no attempt at all just yet I am going to order a yoga mat though and try that.
No idea what I'm doing never ever tried it in my life but thought it might be good to help calm me down when I do get overwhelmed

ExpletiveDelighted · 17/03/2020 22:26

Well, I has to have an e-consult with the GP last week and after filling the form in the receptionist phoned me to ask how much I weigh which was quite embarrassing. Made me feel I ought to be doing more for my own health.

Layladylay234 · 17/03/2020 22:36

So just to back up the whole "The media is reporting generally bad news" theory, did anyone see that the Abel's we're back in the UK? What wonderful news. And remember, they were all over it a few weeks back with being quarantined and testing positive.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 17/03/2020 22:38

I was told this evening by email from a friend that 24-hour-a-day Tescos are going to be closing at ten in the evening for a bit so that they can completely restock each night. Apparently they are not suffering shortages, just people buying everything in sight in a frenzied way faster than the lorries can bring supplies in from the warehouses. So we can hope that the empty shelves will pass fairly soon, mostly because people will run out of a] spare money to do it with and b] room in their houses for 78,000 loorolls and 98 3kg bags of pasta...

bingowingsmcgee · 17/03/2020 22:42

Thank you for a lovely thread. Just what I need. We're self isolating from tomorrow but we're viewing it in a positive light. The children have a strict routine in place to stop us getting that 'Christmas holidays' ennui, and we're going to do loads of stuff we've been putting off - especially cleaning and tidying! Let's see all the opportunities this time brings us.

StCharlotte · 17/03/2020 22:53

Well it's been a weird day. Work has been divided into two teams who will alternate days, working three days one week and two the next. So there was some sadness as each team said goodbye for the duration.

I dropped the "I'm diabetic" bombshell at work today and they were brilliant. They're setting me up to work from home so I will be able to work five days so hopefully won't have to take a pay cut. But it means I won't see "my" team either and I will miss my room mate so badly.

Also had to cancel the family Mother's Day get-together for MIL as DSIL and niece both work in schools. It was to be a last hurrah before MIL (and I) go into isolation.

We're okay financially but have lost about a third of our pensions which is gutting.

So I'm feeling a bit wobbly tonight as it all sinks in that I'll be housebound for so long but on the positive side I am so impressed with my employer for genuinely caring about their staff and protecting me. Along with three friends who are also wfh, we've arranged to have a virtual "teabreak" twice a day on whatsapp Grin

IdrisElbasLeftTesticle · 17/03/2020 22:54

Oh my goodness thank you so much for this thread you wonderful people ❤️

I have had completely out of control panic for most of the last week (have panic disorder anyway but this was a new level of awful). I haven’t been able to sleep or eat or concentrate on anything. I’m still not great, mainly due to worry about our economic circumstances, but I’m doing a lot better today and reading this thread has really helped.

Nowabruptly · 17/03/2020 23:08

This thread is such a help. Thank you everyone for the positivity. Can anyone share any stories of any people in the higher risk groups (especially older people in higher risk groups) recovering or, even better, not having severe symptoms. I’d love to hear some good news along these lines. Thanks!
