WIBU to send a complaint about this aggressive text message?

I have just received this from my GP (and yes, it was recieved in capital letters, I haven’t edited it):

COVID-19: FOLLOWING LATEST GUIDANCE, Edited out MEDICAL CENTRE WILL BE OPERATING A TELEPHONE CONSULTATION ONLY SERVICE. ONCE YOU HAVE BEEN ASSESSED, THE CLINICIAN WILL DECIDE IF A FACE TO FACE CONSULTATION IS NEEDED. WE ARE WORKING HARD TO PROTECT OUR PATIENTS AND STAFF. IF YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT BOOKED IN THE NEAR FUTURE, YOU WILL BE CONTACTED, DO NOT ATTEND THE SURGERY.THANK YOU FOR YOUR CO-OPERATION.

Is that unnecessary and rude? I haven’t even seen a doctor at that surgery since eleven months ago, it’s not like I’m hounding at their door every day and a walking risk.

I get that it is important and needs to be clarified but wtf, does anyone else think it’s really rude to send spam messages to random people in that tone of manner?

OP posts:
Oakeyy · 16/03/2020 12:44

What an idiotic thread.

OhCaptain · 16/03/2020 12:45

Eh?

shinyredbus · 16/03/2020 12:45

Jesus fucking wept. You don’t even know what spam means. And in troubled times like these where we have a pandemic with no vaccine in sight and no slow down and the health services are on the brink - you want to complain about a caps text? For real? You have got to be shitting me.

SageRosemary · 16/03/2020 12:46

*Actually, do send a complaint.

A proper, written one.

On paper.

I'm sure they can find a use for it in these Andrex-free times.*

@LaMarschallin. Love it, brilliant response!

golddustwomen · 16/03/2020 12:46

Your being ridiculous never mind unreasonable.

Bluntness100 · 16/03/2020 12:47

Op is there something else going on with you? Your reaction to and interpretation of a perfectly normal text message, which is neither aggressive or rude is not within the realms of normal. Is there something else going on that is making you interpret things incorrectly and React badly?

Becclescake · 16/03/2020 12:48

YABU - it's in block capital letters, but it's certainly not worded in an aggressive manner

Weregoingonanadventure · 16/03/2020 12:49

It's not spam. Spam is like junk mail, or trying to sell you something or other pointless crap.

That is akin to a public service announcement. They need to tell all patients the info, whether or not you've been in to see them recently. And the content if the message is calm, explanatory and to the point. Its not rude or aggressive.
The capital letters will be for those who struggle to read the small text and to try and grab the attention of everyone so they dont just delete it.

You are being so unbelievably ridiculous.

Justaboy · 16/03/2020 12:50

No ones sent me one but then again almost 70 suppose i won't be allowed out:(

Some might say thats a good thing; !!

SallyWD · 16/03/2020 12:51

It's fine. It's clearly written and not rude. It's obviously a message they have to send to all patients. Why are you taking it so personally?

pbdr · 16/03/2020 12:52

As a doctor working in a GP surgery, the idea of someone wasting our time with a complaint about the essential distribution of an extremely important public safety notice during a near unprecedented global health emergency makes me absolutely despair. Do you not think we perhaps have bigger issues taking up our time right now than having our focus dragged away from trying to keep people safe and minimise mortality because someone got offended by capslock?

If you do choose to make a complaint at this time, I hope you remember in years to come that your contribution to the coronavirus disaster was to heap additional pressure on the overwhelmed NHS with absolute nonsense. We are trying to save lives here, let us do our job.

Hallloumi · 16/03/2020 12:54

It's a standard communication which will have been sent to all patients. Despite sending these out people are still coming in to surgeries with cough and or fever and some are lying about these symptoms on the phone. We have better things to do right now (but in fact even without COVID-19) than respond to these kinds of complaints.

Best wishes - a GP

Hallloumi · 16/03/2020 12:55

Although some of my patients were worse- we sent similar text last week and several texted back saying things like ' FO I will come in if I want to'

OhCaptain · 16/03/2020 12:56
Shock
Skeeter2020 · 16/03/2020 12:57

You're being so unreasonable, I can't even

Sleeplessnights1234 · 16/03/2020 12:59

What is it that you find unnecessary and rude?

Buffy81 · 16/03/2020 13:01

There is nothing wrong with that text. Is is in no way spam. You are registered with a GP surgery and they need to get information to all of their patients to inform them of what the practice is doing and this the only way that they can do it.

How long ago you last went to see your GP has no relevance to your OP. You come across as the type of person who will get offended when they have to ask you the following :

.have you had a cough and/or temp over 37.8
have you been abroad in the last 14 days
have you been in contact with anybody who had the virus

GET A GRIP!! There are bigger things to worry about in life at the moment than a text message

Indiemeg · 16/03/2020 13:02

Someone just decided to put it in capitals because it’s an important message. They’re not shouting 😂

Saucy99 · 16/03/2020 13:02

I'm sure your company would be top of their list of priorities

loobylou10 · 16/03/2020 13:03

Get a grip OP. It's not a 'spam' message, it's a mass mail to get a very important message out to everyone at the same time.
Probably in capitals so that everyone can read it.
Give them a break and don't be 'that person'.
They have much bigger things to worry about at the moment don't they???

LagunaBubbles · 16/03/2020 13:03

Seriously what is wrong with you?! That you would even begin to take offence to a mass - not spam - text under the current public health circumstances!

nornironrock · 16/03/2020 13:04

Seriously?

Get over yourself.

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 16/03/2020 13:04

YABVU if you think there is anything at all to complain about.

There is nothing rude about it. If you can deduce a tone from that then you need to realise you are attributing it with a rude tone from yourself.

It is just a statement and a directive written in perfectly acceptable language and terminology.

TARSCOUT · 16/03/2020 13:05

FFS in CAPS!!!!

EL8888 · 16/03/2020 13:06

No aggression there. You are being precious and overly sensitive. Feel free to complain but it’s kind of pointless. Even if it was aggressive it’s probably needed so people don’t go to the GP for nonsense reasons e.g. sore toe, hay fever etc. It’s kind of obvious but l know a lot of people are stupid and may consider going to GP’s
