Sore throat and high temp. I think I've got it

It’s weird isn’t it? I’m the same. Bad cough and a temp. It could easily be a cold or normal flu but who knows, I guess I’ll never know quite probably?

Pinkyyy · 16/03/2020 06:49

How long ago did your symptoms start?

BizarreBizarre · 16/03/2020 06:49

No cough yet but my throat is literally killing me

OP posts:
ballsdeep · 16/03/2020 06:51

Hope you're both ok. Have you been out of the country?

BizarreBizarre · 16/03/2020 06:52

Pretty sure DS 12 has got it, started with awful sore throat and temp, followed by horrible headache and neck/back/ shoulder aches and pains. He's actually felt pretty grotty. His cough started yesterday ( Day 3 ) although temperature seems to have calmed down now.

BizarreBizarre · 16/03/2020 06:55

Suppose I'm phoning in sick to work

TeacupHalfFull · 16/03/2020 06:57

It's more likely just a cold or perhaps a flu however more and more people are going to say it's coronavirus and we have no way of confirming unless hospitalised.

On the small chance it is CV, government advice is to self isolate for 7 days.

NeurotrashWarrior · 16/03/2020 06:57

Just to be aware, there is also a lot of tonsillitis about. Obviously self isolate, definitely, but be aware of your symptoms.

Well, not literally, I hope.

Straycatstrut · 16/03/2020 07:39

I've been ill for 2 weeks since visiting a hospital for dental treatment. The cough is drying me insane, it's really chesty and rattly.

I feel feverish but never have one (37 at most), tired and achy all the time and have a fuzzy head. Constant headache. Could be a result of the treatment (2 teeth extraction) could be corona. I think so many of us will have "normal" colds and just presume we have it so you end up panicking and making it worse. The not knowing and not being able to find out drives you mad.

My 7yo has woken up shivering and coughing. So that's me and him SI and my 3yo and 6m old puppy stuck inside with us all day. Which is really hard work for everyone. The poor dog won't understand why she's not getting the walks she needs.

Hard usually being a LP but with this on top it's awful. My shower, boiler, oven and all plug sockets upstairs aren't working either so can't use them. Landlord is away (may be stuck somewhere) and said he'll "try" send an electrician over today. I don't know how that's supposed to work when SI but I need hot water!

I don't have any money until tomorrow. I need food. No delivery slots until Saturday. It's just all such a mess.

Sparklfairy · 16/03/2020 07:42

@Straycatstrut that sounds awful. Truly hellish. I hope things turn around for you soon Flowers

Can you ask your landlord if you can ring round some electricians to speed things along?

Wait4nothing · 16/03/2020 07:48

@Straycatstrut
Are you on any local fb groups for your area? Ours is arranging drop offs for those in situations like yourself. It may be worth a quick search. Hope you’re feeling better soon

C3line · 16/03/2020 07:51

Thing is that almost exact bug was going around weeks ago, I had it. Has left a thickly cough. How do u know it’s CV?

Northernsoullover · 16/03/2020 07:53

I guess we must all assume it is and behave accordingly Sad

KaptenKrusty · 16/03/2020 08:12

Sore throat is not a symptom - it’s prob just a usual cold/flu

I’m in the same boat - temp and sore throat all weekend but temp gone down now. Not overly worried

FromEden · 16/03/2020 08:17

Sore throat is a symptom, but without a fever it probably isn't it. A fever and a sore throat could definitely make coronvirus a possibility.

FromEden · 16/03/2020 08:19

A fever with a cold is rare so if you have a high temp it's unlikely to be that. And if it didnt come on suddenly like the flu then it's unlikely to be that also.

Copperas · 16/03/2020 08:22

What about shortness of breath?

KaptenKrusty · 16/03/2020 08:24

Well what can you do - you’ll prob never know if it’s a cold / flu or the new virus ! Just get yourself well again not much more you can do! Look after yourself x

peridito · 16/03/2020 08:24

Neighbour swears that steeping a good handful of fresh sage leaves and drinking is excellent at soothing throats .

Or Difflam if chemist has it .

Isn't the music membrane in our body supposed to protect our cells, can't imagine stripping it off with vinegar is going to do much good 🙄

Same goes for soreness in any area, especially the throat, stick some acid on it 🙄

Stop listening to this shot and spreading bollocks!!

Vinosaurus · 16/03/2020 08:36

There’s been a graphic doing the rounds this weekend showing where it starts in the throat and saying gargling with salt water or water & vinegar can stop the virus progressing

this is a hoax

BizarreBizarre · 16/03/2020 08:45

My toddler hasn't been well so I wonder if it's a virus from him. I'm an NHS worker so I might have to self isolate.?
