Because we are too rebellious. I cannot envisage people staying indoors for any length of time

OP posts:
EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 15/03/2020 22:59

We are not particularly rebellious we are quite compliant though there be lots of rebellion online

Now the French well if they manage closing non essential places and a lock down than we certainly can

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 15/03/2020 23:09

That wasn’t an insult to the French they have a history of the people fighting back against those in power

The point was if the French can manage this then the UK will as we are certainly more compliant in our culture

kissmewherethesundontshine · 15/03/2020 23:09

Going on the selfish attitude of so many people, IMO the best way to ensure everyone locks down is for the police to take the name and DOB of anyone not complying, then if there are 5 people needing a bed/ventilation the ones who didn't lock down go to bottom of the list, when it affects them rather than 'just old people' they may think twice.

StampMc · 15/03/2020 23:20

Right. So no ones being diagnosed unless they’re in hospital really though. Unlikely to be walking the streets breaking curfew

Some of the people in ED in my hospital could do with being arrested. We’ve had patients who are supposed to be confining themselves to one room wonder about the whole dept, go out for a fag, use the vending machine, by a twix from the wrvs etc. These are people who have been swabbed but their results aren’t back so technically not diagnosed but plenty of people are ill enough to be in hospital and well enough to be absolute wankers.

JustInCaseCakeHappens · 15/03/2020 23:53

the people in this country typing the loudest on their keyboard about going on with their life as they want will be the first ones to bow to the first sign of authority.

It could be funny if the government wasn't so slow to impose strict measures now before the shit hits the fan.

turdtimelucky · 16/03/2020 00:20

If Boris told everyone to stay at home, the British would. They're obedient like that. He hasn't told them what to do, so they're running around the place like lost souls. Don't know what to be doing with themselves apart from buying toilet roll.

Everyexitisanentrance · 16/03/2020 00:23

Maybe some will stay at home to guard their toilet roll and tins of fruit Smile

todayisnottuesday · 16/03/2020 00:33

plenty of people are ill enough to be in hospital and well enough to be absolute wankers

That sounds horribly familiar, @StampMc - perhaps we are in the same health trust Wink

rocketmen · 16/03/2020 00:56

What if you don't have enough food in stock to live on? :S

squeekums · 16/03/2020 00:58

Your attitude is awful.

Guess your bigger than your teens yeah?
My 10yr old dd will be taller than me by years end. Physically an even match almost. Im screwed lol and thats with NO ADHD or the like.
I can only imagine the physical strength it would take to keep a teen down with ADHD.
The poster saying she cant physically stop him may be right on, he may be much stronger than her, that simple. She may try and get KO for her trouble.

FortunesFave · 16/03/2020 01:43

Rocket People are allowed to go to the shop.

HeIenaDove · 16/03/2020 01:49

So people on key meters will be faced with the possibility of going without electric or being arrested. Nice.

Popsandevie · 16/03/2020 02:03

As someone who works within the police force I can't envisage an enforced lockdown, we do not have the numbers even if they were all available and healthy at once.

Evybody · 16/03/2020 02:22

Your friend is telling porkiesHmm. No army deployed in Dublin. Free to move around, social distancing and asked to stay home. Army helping with admin at present really.

feelingverylazytoday · 16/03/2020 02:33

My daughter is autistic, I am absolutely dreading self isolation and or lockdown. We have to go out every single day, to the shops and for at least one walk, it's a big part of her life. And she gets violent when she gets told no. This is going to be a nightmare.

LonginesPrime · 16/03/2020 02:53

Where are they putting the arrested people?

In the big warehouse where they're keeping all the toilet paper, obvs.

Pixxie7 · 16/03/2020 04:37

Kids and teenagers are the same the world over they have managed it in other countries so we will have to manage here.

bellinisurge · 16/03/2020 06:34

Shopping is allowed, even in lockdown. Just a bit more tedious with lots of social distancing.
Lots of countries have rebellious traditions but most people in them who don't have specific difficulties with remaining inside grow the fuck up and comply. As has been shown by posters in this thread there are people for whom this would be immediately difficult. They are the people who need help and support.
Being a bit bored is not a reason to create a problem for other people.
Spend this time working out strategies for tackling boredom.
And get the fuck out of the way so that people who need help can try and access it.

Alwaysreadyforbed · 16/03/2020 07:18

bluepeace

I keep wondering if I should stay away because of the hysteria. I can’t though. It keeps me amused. I mean, someone likened it to 28 Days Later. Absolute gold.

Toomboom · 16/03/2020 07:34

You won't have a choice if it comes to it!! It would be for your own protection, so why do you think that you can flout that?
You can end up being fined for breaking this. In Spain now they have to stay at home for 15 days, not even allowed to go for walks. It is coming here, so start planning.

Snowy111 · 16/03/2020 07:40

Reality hasn’t hit people yet. With a few thousand cases each the Italian and Spanish health facilities and doctors/nurses are reaching breaking point. UK need around 37 million people to get it for herd immunity. Without some drastic change for the better in the disease, which doesn’t seem likely, this is going to overwhelm us soon, and people will realise why things like lockdown are needed.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 16/03/2020 07:53

I agree people will comply apart from the very few who might use this opportunity to create an issue they shall be dealt with by the authorities

I think it’s harder to implement in Europe than say a country like China but it will work because it has to

I feel for those facing added issues

Bananabixfloof · 16/03/2020 12:05

It would be for your own protection, so why do you think that you can flout that

Sigh, because I have the capabilities of simply leaving my house and walking off. What if I dont want protection? I'm happy enough to catch this now and have done.

You can end up being fined
Then I'll be fined, not gonna ask anyone else to pay so why would you care?
And obviously the next thing is I'll be put in a cell. So if half my street decide to leave the house all at the same time, where will they put us. Theres not enough cells in the area to put us all in.
All of this too assumes that the police force as it is wont also be stripped of staff as they too can catch this. Same with our forces.

Alsohuman · 16/03/2020 12:23

Lots of selective reading here. Did anyone who insists enforcement will happen read this?

As someone who works within the police force I can't envisage an enforced lockdown, we do not have the numbers even if they were all available and healthy at once

BirdandSparrow · 16/03/2020 12:32

Sigh, because I have the capabilities of simply leaving my house and walking off. What if I dont want protection? I'm happy enough to catch this now and have done Aren't you communtiy minded? I bet your neighbours will be thrilled to have you possibily infecting them all.

Why are people such twats, honestly? Once you get to cases going up by the thousands every day I hope you aren't so selfish about it all
