Covid
The Virus. Think I've got it.
Wigglewaggle01 · 15/03/2020 15:42
Got a really sore throat that's been getting progressively worse. Quite concerned it's 'The Virus'!
Anyone else that's Ill? How are you coping?
RedSheep73 · 15/03/2020 15:44
Stay in, keep away from people, ring 111. Odds are you'll be ok.
Faircastle · 15/03/2020 15:47
Inaccurate advice in both of the first two posts.
They are not routinely testing anyone not in hospital.
People with symptoms have been asked not to phone 111 but instead use the 111 online questionnaire.
CoraPirbright · 15/03/2020 15:47
I thought that a sore throat was a definite symptom but today in the papers I read that it is only occasionally one. The most common are the dry cough and a fever. Do you have those?
Wigglewaggle01 · 15/03/2020 15:47
Well I'm hardly going to increase incredibly overstretched NHS resources unless I get more symptoms that a sore throat. It could potybe hay fever or just a random sore throat.
Wigglewaggle01 · 15/03/2020 15:48
WTF is my phone play at.
I mean could potentially be hay fever.
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 15/03/2020 15:49
Please don't 'go and get tested' because they won't test you and you'll put people at risk. Self isolate, feel better soon.
LemonRedwood · 15/03/2020 15:49
I've had it. Now recovered. Stay away from other people as much as you can until you're better and practise good hygiene. The vast majority of people who get it will be fine. It's about protecting other people.
HeronLanyon · 15/03/2020 15:49
I’ve had sore throat for two days. History of tonsillitis. No fever and no cough of any sort. Putting all of that together - neither main symptom and symptom not mentioned - I am in bed/sofa anyway and keeping an eye on things in case of any change.
Gargling with salt water / difflam and drinking hot lemon honey ginger.
Good luck op.
ludothedog · 15/03/2020 15:49
Or you have a cold. Sorry but you need to isolate and follow medical advice. I don't think you can just "go and get tested" and if all you have is just cold like symptoms then do what you would normally do for a cold, but in isolation. GOOGLE the Nhs website for further info.
Sparklesocks · 15/03/2020 15:50
Well go on the NHS website and read the full list of symptoms, keep an eye on what else does/doesn’t develop. Maybe try and keep away from others as a precaution too.
crustycrab · 15/03/2020 15:50
@Angeldelight68 leave the house? Go get tested? Seriously?
@RedSheep73 OP does NOT need to call 111.
It's no wonder the NHS can't cope with the level of stupidity just in the first 2 replies
Snoozysnoozy · 15/03/2020 15:51
What size shoe are you?
Can I have them if you don't make it?
Wigglewaggle01 · 15/03/2020 15:51
I've been gargling the salt water too and warm drinks.
Have self isolated just in case.
I'm a little concerned as I have an auto immune deficiency but we'll see what happens.
Wigglewaggle01 · 15/03/2020 15:53
Of course, size 6 and a dress size 12. (Just in case you want some clothes too)
I have a lovely new pair of heels I haven't worn yet so you might be in luck!
LemonRedwood · 15/03/2020 15:54
I'm not sure I would have confused the symptoms I had with hay fever tbh.
Hope you feel better soon though
Lockheart · 15/03/2020 15:54
A sore throat isn't one of the core symptoms, is it?
If you develop a fever and / or a cough, then use the 111 service.
awaynboilyurheid · 15/03/2020 15:59
A sore throat is how it started in someone I know who has it, not tested but after visiting GP (and was given a time to visit to save infecting others ) was told that it was a definite sign along with the start of other symptoms, exhaustion mild temp etc. She has gone on to develop other symptoms so I would def self isolate.
mumtumdocare · 15/03/2020 16:02
If there are no other complications you do not need to call 111! Testing is no longer being done on patients who are not in hospital or immuno-compromised. Please go on to the 111 website where it will give you self care advice and information regarding self isolation.
MinkowskisButterfly · 15/03/2020 16:06
@Angeldelight68 you cant get tested. I was sent to a and e yesterday due to breathlessness and a cough (I'm asthmatic) by 111 (sent to 111 by gp) and got sent away again (presenting at a and e not a good idea!) As they are only testing patients admitted to hospital with respiratory issues. Nobody else can get tested.
NaturalBornWoman · 15/03/2020 16:06
@LemonRedwood perhaps you could share some more information about what symptoms you did have? And were you tested and confirmed? TIA
