Sorry if this has been done already, but wondering if you’re sending your kids into school tomorrow. Just reply with a yes or no. Intrigued to know what everyone is planning on doing. Thanks

*no childcare issues, even

Treescaper · 15/03/2020 13:26

No

User24689 · 15/03/2020 13:26

No.

And I don't live on "another planet" I am a SAHM with a younger toddler. It is no issue also having my 4 year old at home and my DH will also be home as his company has told everyone to work from home.

Cafeconleche · 15/03/2020 13:27

Nope, but no judgement either way - everyone has their own circumstances and considerations. My DS is in Yr 13 so A Levels coming up, but has to get the tube to and from 6th form college. DH is 72 and prone to pneumonia, so even with the best hygiene practices on behalf of DS, it’s still risky. DS has emailed teachers asking for homework and revision notes. He has a friend whose mum is in the middle of chemo so won’t be going in tomorrow either. I also have elderly DF who lives on his own to consider, and I need to stay well in order to drop off groceries and medicines to his front door.

I think the government will close the schools at the end of the week anyway. DH and myself are both self-employed (no idea what we’re going to do for money tbh) but completely get the dilemma for parents of Primary school kids who cannot afford not to work. I can’t understand why Secondary schools haven’t already been closed - the kids are old enough to look after themselves at home and they tend to use public transport far more than Primary school kids. Yes, the exam season is almost upon us, but when you look at what’s happening in Italy and Spain, we need to put it in perspective. We have a window of opportunity to slow this nightmare down which those counties weren’t afforded

ParkheadParadise · 15/03/2020 13:27

Yes, dd will be attending nursery as usual.

DioneTheDiabolist · 15/03/2020 13:29

No.

effingterrified · 15/03/2020 13:30

No.

By the way, is this like the third thread today asking exactly the same thing??!

joffreyscoffees · 15/03/2020 13:31

Yes.

MacronsPensWiper · 15/03/2020 13:32

I really wish people would say the gov will shut schools!

They won't. There is nothing at all they have said so far to say they will ever shut the schools!!

1 dc no, chest
2 yes for Monday, from the Tuesday off.

Biscusting · 15/03/2020 13:33

Yes, they won’t be in direct contact with anyone vulnerable and neither will we. It’s a small school also.

MacronsPensWiper · 15/03/2020 13:34

Cafe I agree, keeping schools for older dc open, colleges and uni is utter madness.

Even today on TV someone said they are mass gatherings in themselves

effingterrified · 15/03/2020 13:34

I call bullshit on some of these posts.

eg "DS is returning to uni after a weekend at home for birthday celebrations."

Er...no, he won't. Everyone with kids at uni is currently shitting themselves over the fact that pretty much all unis in the UK are sending the students home and tuition will be online only for the next few months.

There is some pretty blatant disinformation going on at the moment.

Biscusting · 15/03/2020 13:35

@MacronsPensWiper the government have said that they are discussing measures such as closing schools, so it is a possibility, and worth preparing for.

iismum · 15/03/2020 13:39

DD - probably, though we’ve considered not as were trying to do a bit of social distancing ourselves and it seems a bit pointless if she’s going into school. DS - probably not as he has a bit of a cough. I’m pretty sure it’s nothing but I’m aware that the symptoms can be very mild in children, so I think better safe than sorry.

Babyfairy0923 · 15/03/2020 13:39

No! We have an at risk in the family & it’s not worth the risk!

missyelloww · 15/03/2020 13:42

University student here! The only Universities I know of that are closing/have closed are those that have had multiple cases or large numbers of students self-isolating (as in 1000+). My University has made it very clear that they will be open unless they are told to close.

SemperIdem · 15/03/2020 13:43

Yes, until they close.

Emcont · 15/03/2020 13:43

No

BreatheAndFocus · 15/03/2020 13:45

No

theDudesmummy · 15/03/2020 13:46

Yes he is going in. But if I had an elderly or vulnerable person at home it would be different.

SodaSodaBanana · 15/03/2020 13:48

DD has a cough so can’t. DS is fine so will be going.

shivermetimbers77 · 15/03/2020 13:49

Yes. Until or unless the school shuts.

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 15/03/2020 13:50

Nope, we'll be home schooling.

Toothsil · 15/03/2020 13:51

Yes

backaftera2yearbreak · 15/03/2020 13:53

Yes. And I’m praying his trip to PGL will still go ahead in the morning.
