Are you sending your kids to school Monday?

Yes, No or Maybe answers only please.

As the WHO have now criticised the UK Government's strategy; death rates today doubled and we simply have no idea of the actual numbers of cases due to very limited testing. I'm seriously considering following the advice of WHO and most other European governments and self-isolating me and the kids from Monday.

Deciding tomorrow but swinging towards no.

Helpwithaversion · 14/03/2020 17:38

No
They’ve been off over 2 weeks already now I think the government are wrong. They don’t know enough about this virus to reassure me that children aren’t affected or that immunity is possible let alone herd immunity

Wake up everyone. It’s not just the elderly and vulnerable at risk

bizzybuzzy · 14/03/2020 17:39

yes because who knows how long they may be closed for. Everyone saying yes are you SAHPs. I work p/t & often wfh but would struggle doing that for a long time with kids about.

RoryGillmoresEvilTwin · 14/03/2020 17:40

Yes. Because when the schools do close and we're having to socially distance ourselves it's going to be difficult. I'm not going to do it before I think we need to. Choosing to cage my 8 year old in a small flat is very different to doing it because we have to, I will 100% do it, and do it properly, when its needed though. I would also be keeping him off if there were cases in his school. My choice has definitely been made easier by the fact that there's no known cases where I live (although now it's impossible to get tested who knows...).

DeathMetalMum · 14/03/2020 17:40

Dd1 has a cough so she is off school all week.

Not certain with dd2 she may end up staying off as its easier, as it's difficult to do the school run with one of us having to go to work.

DeathMetalMum · 14/03/2020 17:41

They'd both be going in if dd1 was okay though.

chillychicken · 14/03/2020 17:42

Yes

BeardedMum · 14/03/2020 17:42

Do we have a choice? Attendance officers will go mental!

BecauseReasons · 14/03/2020 17:43

Do we have a choice? Attendance officers will go mental!

Say they're ill.

Wannabangbang · 14/03/2020 17:43

Im unsure at the moment, but if it escalates much more then im going to. Will i be fined?

Keastrogen92 · 14/03/2020 17:44

No. BJ has got it wrong and I'm not prepared to pay the price.

formerbabe · 14/03/2020 17:44

Yes

sawyersfishbiscuits · 14/03/2020 17:47

Yes reluctantly.
Mine are going in and I'm a teacher so I'm also having to go in. My setting already has had many absences due to concern over CV. I'm hoping we'll close Friday.

Underhisi · 14/03/2020 17:50

Yes because ds being at home for an extended period will be very difficult for him and me ( severe autism and challenging behaviour) and currently the benefits of him going outweigh any risks. I believe we will eventually get it and I want us all to be as physically and mentally well as possible in preparation for that.

Baaaahhhhh · 14/03/2020 17:51

Yes. But the school has suspended all trips, sports events, in house assemblies, competitions, end of term events etc etc

I suspect they may close in a week's time though when we are closer to the Easter holidays anyway.

Mozartinmyfanjo · 14/03/2020 17:51

Yes. And l will be commuting to office as usual (train and tube). I am going to continue normal way until advice changes.

Would only not send DC if any of us was ill (fever/ cough).

Underhisi · 14/03/2020 17:51

All being my family.

I'm hoping we close Friday too and if we don't im not risking my families lives for the sake of an guinea pig experiment. So im choosing after this week to keep them off regardless of what our misguided government says. Can't believe the ul are the only place not doing nout about it, typical tories trying to kill us off. They won't have much an economy in the end anyway when it kills millions that spend their hard earned cash

happymumof22019 · 14/03/2020 17:53

Yes because I’m not allowed to work from home until the government say so and I can’t risk my job.

KilljoysDutch · 14/03/2020 17:54

No, He's 6 so not too important to be in, we have very high risk family members and neither of us work due to my disabilities so it will have no impact on anyone else except for a positive one by being one less child potentially spreading.

APurpleSquirrel · 14/03/2020 17:56

Yes they will be going to school on Monday unless the schools close. Only one case in our county at present so low risk.

middleager · 14/03/2020 17:56

I'm doing one more week max.
One son, 13, gets asthma.
I'm so nervous about this.

banjaxxed · 14/03/2020 17:57

Yes. Because they will close eventually and that will be hard enough to manage

Genuine question, how is anyone going to be able to handle 4 months with kids out of school? No one will get paid?
