Are you sending your kids to school Monday?

Yes, No or Maybe answers only please.

As the WHO have now criticised the UK Government's strategy; death rates today doubled and we simply have no idea of the actual numbers of cases due to very limited testing. I'm seriously considering following the advice of WHO and most other European governments and self-isolating me and the kids from Monday.

Star, people can choose whether to look after older relatives or older relatives can say no as many are.

Schools could be opened on skeleton basis like many other countries, but forcing thousands of staff who are also gp, elderly themselves into germ pits of schools is inhumane and I hope teachers union do something about it.

Mummyoflittledragon · 14/03/2020 16:13

I want to say no. Dd is refusing to even discuss it.

Widget123 · 14/03/2020 16:14

What happens if we pull our kids out is it generally just a fine?

MacronsPensWiper · 14/03/2020 16:14

Butter, good strategy!

Fantasiaa · 14/03/2020 16:14

@Caramel78
They aren’t testing most people. Cases are far far higher than confirmed.

Lucindainthesky · 14/03/2020 16:15

Yes.

MacronsPensWiper · 14/03/2020 16:16

It's taken 3 weeks for Italy to get out of control that for us is start of easter holidays. Another 2 weeks of utter carnage!

By that point UK public will be clamouring for action.

colouringinpro · 14/03/2020 16:16

I totally appreciate that Starbuck which is why I'm not asking "Should they close?" It's a difficult situation, kids are germ carriers and if families have vulnerable members then imo taking their kids out is worth considering. I'm a single parent of 2, Dr asthmatic, ds disabled. I need to stay well for as long as possible.

Unsure. I don’t want to send the kids in though.

I wish the government would allow the option to home tutor from NOW though as it’s definitely an option for us (both work from home)

On balance, will probably check with school on Monday if they will take action if we pull the kids out. If not, they won’t be going from there on

colouringinpro · 14/03/2020 16:17

dd asthmatic.

Also totally appreciate many do not have the choice.

Yes, I will check temps every morning.

colouringinpro · 14/03/2020 16:18

Given what LA will be dealing with over the next month's I woukd be amazed if anyone is fined over this period.

No

One severely disabled with a heart condition.
One asthmatic.

I am very grateful that we can both work from home and therefore have this option.

Others I know with very vulnerable children are HCPs and so cannot do the same. They are in bits about the whole situation.

FairfaxHigh · 14/03/2020 16:19

Yes

Rocketmam · 14/03/2020 16:19

No.

@Widget123 you can't get fined if you follow the above strategy, it is following government advice so I'd like to see them try! I've recommended the same thing to a couple of fellow worried mums.

Gives you four weeks to see what happens without having to make permanent decisiobs like deregistering just yet (The situation certainly isn't going to be getting any better!)

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 14/03/2020 16:20

No

JustUrggghhhh · 14/03/2020 16:21

No, me and my kids are in self isolation until Thursday. I am silently praying schools start to close by then as I am getting more nervous about going back. If their school is closed I dont have to work. Sorry not the yes/no answer you wanted!

MinkowskisButterfly · 14/03/2020 16:22

No because I have to self isolate (ì think, my advice has been contradictory to say the least) and that means I cant get my little one there. (She was sent home Friday with a cough that lasted all of 30 minutes and then a bit of a sore throat and runny nose), so went donher any harm to stay home (she is reception age).

steppemum · 14/03/2020 16:22

mon inset day.

Tues - kids will go in. (unless something changes)

AccountAntsy · 14/03/2020 16:23

Yes. It’s a private nursery but yes.

MacronsPensWiper · 14/03/2020 16:24

Orange.

Everyone is safer in a thinned out situation, with Skelton staff, stringent cleaning, easier to manage with far less students, would be better for everyone.

Everyone should have this option.

I'm in education and I'd be far happier working with few students and few staff members.

Iliketeaagain · 14/03/2020 16:24

Yes, and will continue to do so until the schools close.
When the schools close, it's not going to be for a week or 2.

Emcont · 14/03/2020 16:26

No. We have to self isolate for 7 days.

Pinksaffire · 14/03/2020 16:26

Yes l am. The schools are open, they are both currently well and I’m frontline NHS so I don’t have a choice but to go to work.

pipnchops · 14/03/2020 16:27
