Are you sending your kids to school Monday?

Yes, No or Maybe answers only please.

As the WHO have now criticised the UK Government's strategy; death rates today doubled and we simply have no idea of the actual numbers of cases due to very limited testing. I'm seriously considering following the advice of WHO and most other European governments and self-isolating me and the kids from Monday.

My DS's school have a coach load of pupils and teachers returning from France on Monday. Returning early due to change in government advice. They will all be in school.

I am very uneasy

yatapina · 14/03/2020 16:01

No.

DD has a persistent cough since Thursday so we've been advised to isolate her.

DeRigueurMortis · 14/03/2020 16:01

Yes.

Tfoot75 · 14/03/2020 16:02

Yes of course. And the government said likely 5-10k cases on Thursday. Out of 70m. No idea how many hundreds of thousands of cases there are of other potentially fatal viruses circulating at the moment however.

Not even 0.00001% of the population of the UK have known cases of coronavirus yet. But I understand the anxiety that thousands could have it without realising and be spreading it around

Waxonwaxoff0 · 14/03/2020 16:05

Yes, because I don't have the luxury of option.

Starbuck8419 · 14/03/2020 16:08

@colouringinpro it could also have the impact it reduces nhs staff who can’t find childcare and push people to use older relatives who should be isolated anyway

BloodyBoris · 14/03/2020 16:09

Maybe.

As I say on my thread, our school has emailed to say they have decided to stay open, despite having a direct link with a confirmed case.

I will send dd to school and I will be going to work, but I am anxious. DD is doing GCSEs, so doesn't want to miss stuff, and I will lose my job if I don't turn up. However, we are avoiding my elderly parents because I'm concerned about putting them at risk.

pomegranatepie · 14/03/2020 16:12

No. He has a cough and I have lost my work, event catering, all cancelled due to virus.

Krazykitty · 14/03/2020 16:12

Yes

ashtyler · 14/03/2020 16:12

No we are not sending them in.

Butternutbrownie · 14/03/2020 16:13

No.

They will be 'ill' and need to beisolated fir 7 days from Monday.

Then I will be 'ill', and told to self isolate so I can't take them in to school the following 7 days.

Takes us about to the Easter holidays.

Might dereg them if schools are still open afterwards.
