Everyone on this thread seems to think they're going to part of the 20% modelled as getting sick and dying
Tbf 20% is a high percentage.
Everyone on this thread seems to have a compromised immune system
Tbf anyone with a compromised immune system is liable to be particularly worried and therefore more likely to be taking part in this thread than the average person. Also see above about 20% being high percentage. Its not just immune compromised either. It's comorbid conditions generally.
Personally for me I have a grandmother in her 90s who lives in sheltered accommodation, two uncles who have heart conditions (mums side), my dad who has a heart condition and diabetes, a uncle (dad's side) with diabetes, my step grandmother in generally very poor health and my FIL who has diabetes. All but one are retired and over 65. That's 7 people in my immediate family who have serious issues which put them at higher risk than the general population. Running through the stats it's more likely than not I will lose at least one family member in the next couple of months, if I look at the death rate by age and the importance of comorbidity.
That's not a pleasant thought.
That doesn't even take into consideration that my mother has asthma as does my brother.
Nor whether the high number of family members on both sides having heart related issues bode badly for me (I'm fit though have a long term cough I can't shift)
I think this is reason enough to be pretty concerned without being mocked as being unable to assess risk.
Reality is if I assess risk properly it gets pretty grim very quickly for my family.
Others on the thread will have similar situations.
It's entirely possible given where risk is stacked I could lose a lot of family members in quick succession.
