To think it was extreme?

Took my daughter to A And E as I was concerned about her as she's not been well for 4 days. I have been really worried about her. ( not corona virus related at all )
Anyway she gets seen by the nurse in triage and he's said that I've put her at high risk of corona virus getting her seen and made out she will now get the virus because I've taken her to hospital. I've never taken her to hospital when I'll but on this occasion I have been really worried.
Now I feel like a terrible parent and feel like I can't win 😢 will she now get the virus because she's entered the hospital

I thought it was appendicitis you were worried about?

worriedmumishere · 10/03/2020 11:06

@WhenISnappedAndFarted it is, I'm just saying they can't keep dismissing fevers as constipation

I think you're more upset I called you out on calling a health care professional who will be totally overstretched a "bitch"! I stand by calling you out on that, it's not acceptable and not right.

Not at all, I stand by it. Anyone who makes someone feel deliberately bad when they’re distressed is a bitch or an arse amongst many other descriptions.

I think you should feel bad that you have said you feel OP has anxiety but then gone on to try to prove she’s lying. I’ve dealt with anxiety over a different issue, it’s awful, if OP does indeed have it, why are you being so nasty? People like you enjoy showing people up. As I said before, vile.

vodkaredbullgirl · 10/03/2020 11:08

Does she have constipation?????

worriedmumishere · 10/03/2020 11:10

@vodkaredbullgirl no she does not, she's going to the toilet perfectly fine, that's why I'm not happy to be told her fever is from constipation

@worriedmumishere I understand what you mean. I was dismissed as a child after having issues and was in hospital/doctors throughout my childhood to be told it was constipation/period issues. Turned out I had stomach ulcers that weren't diagnosed until I was in my mid teens. They can get things wrong and I understand why you're worried about that.

However, I do think in this case it was wrong to take her to A&E.

If you took her to GP and she got worse, did you contact 111 for advice? I have RTFT but can't see that. If not, YABU to bring her to A&E

frumpety · 10/03/2020 11:17

Was she seen in A&E by a Doctor , someone who examined her ? I imagine you were triaged by the nurse ? So they examined her and said she is constipated , but you and your child will both have said that she is having no problems pooing , what did they say then ?

frumpety · 10/03/2020 11:18

Also did they give anything to help with the constipation ?

worriedmumishere · 10/03/2020 11:20

@OhCaptain I was meant to make 2 different threads as they are in different places on the forum but I wasn't meant to use different names. The other name was meant for another post and I didn't realise about names

My baby has been ill with a cold for 4 days. I took him to A&E yesterday as he looked like he was struggling a little with his breathing. I had tried to get through to 111 with no luck. Good job I did bring him as he is now in the high dependency unit with Bronchiolitis. I know the. NHS are stretched but you also need to trust your instincts.

Mayaaaaa · 10/03/2020 11:23

I hope your baby is better soon.

But ops child isnt in hospital. Her instincts were to take a child who us clearly not an emergency to a&e.

Ops various other threads show she is struggling, anxious and very down. Encouraging the 'you must be right, if you think it's really bad. It is really bad.' Isnt really helping her.

If she still felt worried, she should have sought further medical attention. But a&e wasnt the right place.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 10/03/2020 11:24

All the best OP and OP's DD. Ignore the cuntish ones on this thread Flowers.

worriedmumishere · 10/03/2020 11:28

They were told she's been going to the toilet but seemed to think she has it. My gp didn't mention it when she saw him first. They didn't give anything for constipation .

OP posts:
frumpety · 10/03/2020 11:38

So they said the reason she is poorly is because she is constipated but didn't give you anything to help resolve it ? Did they give you any advice regarding it ? What was her temperature when they checked it at the hospital ?
More importantly , how is she now ?

worriedmumishere · 10/03/2020 11:44

@frumpety yes it's exactly that. They gave no advice nothing. She's got a temp of 40, I've given her ibuprofen because the paracetamol I gave her is doing nothing !
She's not eaten properly in days either as she's not up to eating. I'm trying to get her to drink as much as I can. I feel like something isn't right but no one is taking me seriously

OP posts:
Bringringbring12 · 10/03/2020 11:51

They didn’t give i anything because they are not concerned as don’t think it’s serious

You have a poorly child. Keep up with the ibuprofen, fluids and rest

Book a doc app for tomorrow afternoon

I reckon she will improve today. No more a&e trips unless ibuprofen stops working and temp stays at 40

worriedmumishere · 10/03/2020 11:53

This is the lat reading on my thermometer Incase anyone thinks I'm making it up

To think it was extreme?
OP posts:
OhCaptain · 10/03/2020 11:57

It doesn’t matter if people here think you’re making it up, though.

Medical professionals in real life have told you she’s ok. Nobody here is going to tell you any differently. Or they shouldn’t! Because it would be irresponsible in the extreme for strangers on the internet to start doling out medical advice and opinions.

Goingunderground2 · 10/03/2020 11:58

My boy gets a terrible temperature from constipation.

When did your lo last have a bowel movement?

heartsonacake · 10/03/2020 11:58

YABU. This was not an emergency situation and you should not have taken her to A&E, Coronavirus around or not.

You have both wasted valuable emergency healthcare time and put your daughter at a greater risk of getting seriously ill.

If you were unhappy with your GPs diagnosis you should have booked another appointment to see a different GP and get a second opinion.

Whattodo1610 · 10/03/2020 12:02

worried ... please go back to your gp ... my daughter almost died from a burst appendix. Her only symptoms were a continuous pain in the centre of her tummy and a temperature of 40. I knew she was very poorly because she just sat all day and did nothing, just complained of a sore tummy. Her temperature wouldn’t come down at all despite having calpol and nurofen regularly. 3 times in a week I took her to gp and they all said tummy bug. But I knew there was more to it as my daughter was just not herself at all. Eventually she had a searing pain in her appendix area and I was told to take her to hospital. They found her appendix had burst, infected and had an abscess .., she was rushed straight to theatre. The surgeon said 3 more hours and we’d have lost her.

You know your daughter, go with your gut instinct. I knew my daughter was very ill but no one would listen.

worriedmumishere · 10/03/2020 12:07

They say she has no signs of infection her upon leaving checked her temp and it was high and they let her go and did nothing
