@BirdandSparrow there's an area behind our house that started off as a big construction site meant to become a large residential zone. Roads are tarmacked (?spelling?) and plots are divided but that's about it. All dog owners in the area use it to walk their pups as it's completely closed off for traffic. Running Yoga Mums know that as there's no police patrol out there, they won't be questioned and/or sanctioned.

@Novia interesting read, I was born abroad and didn’t live in England until I was ten I left 3 years ago, I think being in the uk really contributed to my life just being so bad and mental health issues. I’m so happy I left and I would never go back.

I don’t think the Spanish are better per say but they are different I just feel more removed? Because of my poor language skills? I don’t know, today is a bit of a hard day here.

Hi all, have you noticed a difference today? It's much busier near us, despite being in the back of beyond. More cars and vans, and building noise from the hotels. I went up to the supermarket, it was the first time I had to queue to pay.

BirdandSparrow · 14/04/2020 17:15

More cars in the village, but actually fewer in the shops. But I think that's the comparison with semana santa as much as the people who've gone back to work, personally. The last few days have been super super quiet because of semana santa...which was the idea of the confinamiento total, to reduce people out to the level of a festivo.

expatinspain · 14/04/2020 18:01

It’s pretty much the same here. Mind you, I’m only going by what I can see out of the window on my street!!

BirdandSparrow · 14/04/2020 18:29

I had to go out for fruit and vegetables and bread today.

expatinspain · 14/04/2020 19:34

I’ll be doing that tomorrow, so will see how busy it is. Here there are queues outside every shop daily anyway, so it’s never exactly been quiet.

Took dd out to the doctors today, poor thing first time she’s been out in a month was to be stuck with needles in a place where everyone is wearing masks.

Novia · 15/04/2020 21:12

Oh @Nameisthegame - that is tough! How is she now?

Nameisthegame · 16/04/2020 00:42

She’s fine it was her vaccinations (top up for chickenpox) but I think it scared her she kept asking to go home. I told her it was her superhero top which I think helped. Everyone seems to have masks now no idea where they got them from.

I called in at our farmacia Today , you could buy a mask if you had previously ordered one, which I hadn't. They said they'd get more in next week.

BirdandSparrow · 16/04/2020 16:47

We have 2 pharmacies in the village. In one they have a waiting list. I went to the other one today and they said they were getting a load tomorrow at 1030, that they've been waiting a month for. Don't know if there's a waiting list, but the pharmacist told me to go back tomorrow so I guess not. A friend in a neighbouring village had reserved some for me but DH isn't keen because it's just those blue disposbale surgical ones and they're €3.75 each...in normal itmes they'd be about 50c. He says it's pointless spending that on something disposable.

My argument is that if they say we can go for a walk at some poitn but need a mask, I WANT TO BE ABLE TO GO!!! Even if I have to reuse a disposable mask.

Have looked on amazon but everything is expensive and takes about a month to arrive.

Nameisthegame · 16/04/2020 17:37

We’re planning on making some with our terrible sewing skills because dd is over 2 they might make her wear one.

Children up to 12

Nameisthegame · 19/04/2020 10:20

@BirdandSparrow I saw that what a terrible time to turn 12! So glad I can take dd out though she’s starting to suffer a bit

Nameisthegame · 19/04/2020 10:23

200,000 cases now almost unbelievable compared to my first post when I was worried about 1070. And they think there’s a possible extra 400,000. Santiago compestela appears to only have 12 but I can’t find any reliable sources.

I understand that children of 12 can go out actually. But not 13 year olds. That would make sense as 6º de primaria is 12 years old but 1º de ESO would be 13. So I understand it as infantil and primaria can go out but not instituto. I hope so as DS is just 12 and in 6º primaria.
